Can someone tell me how in the blue hell Chicago still has cap space?
-
Remember when Pittsburgh was on their way to not making the playoffs with about 30 games left last year?
-
Let me help: Hits the head are illegal. Anyone who violates this rule will be suspended Twenty seconds

I don't think anyone on here has implied that, and if they did they would be stupid. If he sits a month, its because Babs feels Jimmy Howard gives us the best chance to win the hockey game. NO REASON OTHER THAN THAT. This is not a power struggle. This is not a personal vendetta against a player. This is a business move. And I think some people on here forget that. Should Ozzie have said anything? His frustration is perfectly understandable, and if I were him I wouldn't be too happy either. It is a distraction whichever way you look at it.
-
Indeed. It seems that because a player has a long history with a team, that player feels like he's owed something. And maybe to an extent they are. But in this case, when the season is on the line, Babs needs to do whatever it takes to win. And despite everything thats gone on this season, I'm still convinced Babs is doing everything in his power to put us in a position to do that

Oh I'm sure he's not. I'm sure there's been alot of people unhappy with Babcock at one point. Just like about 95% of the team hated Scotty when he came here, and how a bunch of players still hated him all throughout his time here (Aaron Ward). I'm just saying I don't think you can make Babcock into a douchebag out of that. Like I said, we see this all throughout hockey with virtually every different coach. You'll see a group of players offer nothing but praise and another group that just slams him in the press. One coach isn't going to be either loved or hated by everyone in that locker room. Ozzie is frustrated and I don't blame him. He' a proven veteran who's proven and accomplished so much and all of a sudden he's riding in bunch in favor of the red-hot but unproven rookie. I'm sure Ozzie feels slighted. But in the end, Babs is just doing what he feels is best for the team.

Oh yeah! The person below me is Karen

Hahaha usually both happens. Conan or Jay?

And what's Babcock supposed to do? Hockey is a business. The players should understand that. Cheli didn't get his ice time cut for any reason other than he wasn't contributing. That's why Leino has been in the doghouse this year. That's why Brett Lebda was in the doghouse last year. While I don't blame Cheli for being upset, he's been around long enough to know that's the nature of the sport. And as far as veteran backlash against him. I don't see Lidstrom, Draper, Maltby, or any of the other guys taking issue with him.

The Wings look tougher this year than they have in recent memory.
RedFX replied to a topic in General
I only take issue with one thing here. I still maintain that TOUGHNESS does not always meaning fighting/enforcing/sticking up etc. I think a player can be plenty tough without dropping the gloves every game. Sacrificing your body to take hits, make hits, block a 100mph slap, or get to the front of the net (in Holmstrom's case) are all things I consider to show toughness and grit. -
In regards to the OP, Jason Williams was not included on the salary chart. So assuming he comes back (maybe, maybe not) someone else on that list would have to go

You Stupid Good for Nothing sounds more elegant. Camping: RV or tent

Junior class president...good times TPBM has faith in the Wings

Really Kenny just hasn't made any really bad trades this decade. In retrospect there have been some "what-if" players dealt (Flieschman, Avery) but at the time it turned out to be a good deal.
-
It's not really a fair debate right now. Kronwall has had more experience and therefore is far more polished all the way around. However Ericsson has shown he has all the tools he needs to develop into a solid two-way defenseman. I think a few years down the road they both can be some of the NHL's best
-
If there was ever a picture that summed up an entire decade's worth of hatred and intensity that was the Wings-Avs, this is it
-
this is just getting weird

Jeremy Roenick says "a big fall is ahead for the Red Wings"
RedFX replied to Vladifan's topic in General
Remember that big fall we were supposedly having when Stevie retired, Shanny left, we lost several key guys to the salary cap, younger guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg weren't stepping it up in the clutch, the goaltending was in shambles, and teams around us were getting younger and more physical? What happened a year after that? -
Leino's mediocrity is clearly all Brett Lebda's fault
-
Way too one-sided. If the Caps threw in Mike Green and a 1st, then maybe.
-
Please. This is clearly Derek Meech's fault
-
As the great Dave Lewis once said, "The team who scores more goals usually wins the game"
-
Word down here is Tootoo will be skating again within the next two weeks. JP Dumont and Joel Ward are also injured
-
This is obviously Jimmy Howard's fault
