Holmstrom sucks even strength, that's no secret. But as others have said, Franzen is quite worrisome, and Zetterberg has been irking me as well. Zetterberg has 2 goals in the past 17 games. I know he is killing it in the assist column, but he isn't paid to be a playmaker, he's being paid for lock down defense and 40+ goals. I know I know, "but he's racking up the points", but we need someone to score goals. We have too many damn passers. i get it, the job is getting done, but that's going to bite us in the ass sooner or later, like it did tonight. We got two fluky goals and a nice goal from Zetterberg, but we need at least one of Franzen and Zetterberg to pot at least one goal a game from her eon out and through the playoffs. Zetterberg has 1 ES goal this new year.

No it wouldn't. Your conclusion is built off a faulty premise. We're only pathetic in your eyes because you think fighting Nichol will make him stop being a ******. Fighting him won't change his mindset or how he is wired internally. Cooke fights all the time, he still cheap shots. Ott fights all the time, he still cheap shots. Mike Richards still cheap shots even though he fights. Kostopolous fights and clearly he still cheap shots. And this is true for the majority, and not the minority. Player A fighting player B has no effect on whether player B will continue to cheap shot. But if we fought him right away he won't cheap shot anyone! Why would we fight a guy and get an instigator when he hasn't done anything? Because he will do something! So as long as we every team fights Cooke/Richards/OV/Ott etc at the beginning of the puck drop, they would stop throwing cheap shots? Well, no.... Exactly.

Ericsson and Rafalski have been our most productive pairing. That is not even up for debate. They've played together for 80% of the time and have the best +/- and points at even strength of any pairing...and you want to break them up? They make their mistakes, but they are so damn good together. Who gives a flying fudge if they let in one goal a game as long as they score two goals a game? Just stop.

I beg to differ and so does his career .900 save percentage and 2.9 GAA. He's on an amazing 6 game win streak right now, but less we forget his 5-10-1 start to the season with a staggering .82 save percentage. Plus, he is the Devils starter as MB30 is trying to get back into the game. Even if he was available, he's one of the last goalies I'd want.

So a 23 years old James Neal and a 24 year old Matt Niskanen aren't going to get better but a 25 year old Alex Goligoski has the major upside? Dallas absolutely got fleeced in this deal and it really isn't even close. i see neal getting 1st or second line minutes on Pittsburgh right now and at least 2nd line minutes even when Malkin and Crosby are playing and he will for sure be getting 1st or 2nd PP time as well.

Honestly, I think shattenkirk is better. He developed properly. EJ and Shattenkirk both struggle at even strength, so if Kirk works on his pick moving and decisions at the NHL level, I think he'll be a Rafalski lite.

I don't understand why you are discounting Shattenkirk so much. He's the same age as EJ, a rookie, on an equally s***ty team, but playing much much better. On top of that, St. Louis ALSO got Stewart.
