Modano feeling good, aiming for late-February return
Konnan511 replied to DatsyukianDekes's topic in General
I think you have to keep Abdelkader in the line-up. Fact is, when he is on the ice, good things happen. I'd rather have a guy on the ice ES who is a +10 with 5 points than a guy on the ice ES who is a -10 with 20 points. Find a way to rotate Eaves/Abdelkader/Modano/Draper and I will be happy. Plus, we have to keep Datsyuk and Hudler together and Filppula and Franzen together. Switch Bertuzzi and Holmstrom and Zetterberg and Hudler. Hudler - Datsyuk - Zetterberg Bertuzzi - Filppula - Franzen Cleary - Modano - Holmstrom Eaves - Draper - Helm Miller - Abdelkader -
Just a random example of why i think the Wings will stay competitive, GREAT mangement vs TERRIBLE management. Wings 2005 Draft vs Florida Panthers 2005 draft Wings: Players that have played in the NHL:4 NHL games played: 310 On current roster: 3 Florida: Players that have played in the NHL:1 NHL games played: 27 On current roster: 0 We have great management. it's easy to see why teams stay on top and why teams continue to struggle. We draft and manage very well and we have the best owner in all of sports.

Pulkkinen, Jarnkrok, Smith. Aubry looks like another Franzen and Nyquist is going to be a very well rounded second line center. Mursak has the ability to be a second line player. Tatar has all the makings for a fabulous 2nd/1st line tweener. Sheahan is a safe bet for a Kesler lite and if Ferraro stays healthy he can be a Helm 3.0. We have very very very good forward prospects, which is why HF ranked our prospect pool top 5 in the most recent poll, the only thing we are lacking is defensive prospects.

Regardless, if it's bad enough to keep you out this long, without playing with a jaw guard, it would have to have extensive damage to the jaw, which would make it extremely painful to eat and chew food.
-
Kindl will be fine, he looks like Big E did/does in his NHL career thus far. It is also really hard to get your groove going when you are in and out of the line-up. I see Big E and Kindl rotating the rest of the season barring any injury.

Wow! That's it? That's quite amazing if that's it. The weight Cleary lost is what i would normally expect.

Canucks Dman Andrew Alberts out indefinitely

In the WCF, if we focus all our energy on shutting down Sedins/Kesler, we should be able to win 2-1, 1-0 every game. Our third and fourth lines are unrivaled in the West and if our top two lines shuts their top two lines down completely-ish, we should be golden...but that is a very tall order and very back breaking. -
Let's hope very little atrophy has set in, I've heard horror stories about massive weight loss from broken jaws.

I should have clarified, that those two streaks will put us with the best win% in the West. And as for New Math.... NSFW: -
Wasn't Voros waived recently? Should have just put in a claim....

As Matt said, the best thing to do is to be a booster, trust me when i say, it is well worth the money! Not only does it help Matt, but there is a hot tub with you name on it...

We will see. I don't see Edler coming back and Hamhuis and his concussion might sideline him for the season. Plus no one is ever fully healthy when comng back from a broken hand or foot unless your name is Pavel Datsyuk, and he still can't take faceoffs. I seem to be way more pessimistic than you i suppose. but I don't see them being "healthy" comes playoffs. -
It was really bad, way more dangerous than the Cooke knee on OV. Both guys going full speed are how Franzen and Kronwall's knees were blown out.
-
He's young, so maybe they could mold him into a steve ott?
-
If he produced more offense...then i wouldn't mind. But he plays on the line and crosses it on occasion and that might be a detriment to a team that i struggling on the PK as it is. I know he can tone down the dumb penalties (he proved it in the playoffs), but unless he can find his 20+ pint scoring touch again, I wouldn't take a chance on him...and as you said...there just isn't room unless we gave them Miller and a pick.
-
Or Gillies is a ****** and saw a guy against the boards and just saw red and went to work. Players talk s*** all the time, but players also don't do what Gillies did (cross ice charge, pummeling an injured player, taunting him as he laid on this ice in a heap).
-
Ehhh...that's very debatable. I guess he is reliable and you know exactly what you're going to get from him. Great character guy, with loads of leadership qualities, might be able to put up 10 points some day, but will always stick up for teammates and bring the pain. Wait... I think i just made your case for you... or I actually like this guy
-
I was expecting more I guess, but when they have guys who do exactly what he does but better, it's not hard to see why. Flyers are slowly weening off pure goons, they are getting guys that can fight, but also play realllly good hockey. They are a fun group to watch, that's for sure.

7 points and there are still 30+ games left. They go on a 3 game losing streak and we go on a three game winning streak and we've now taken over the lead. You can't honestly tell me with an AHL defense they couldn't lose 3 games in a row and us not win 3 games in a row now that out line-up is almost entirely healthy? -
I was more going off the basis that Cooke hadn't done anything nearly as bad as what Martin and Gillie did. Sucker punching someone from behind/side to a completely unsuspecting victim, then continuing to try to pummel them or charging a player from clear across the ice and laying into a guy who doesn't fight, then ripping his helmet off as he laid on the ice in pain an agony then blasting him in the ehad is wayyy worse than anything that Cooke has done. Cooke plays on the line and crosses it from time to time obviously, but he's never blatantly done anything this bad. The blindside hits were legal at the time and his knees to knees have never taken anyone out for anytime (or at least i don't think so, please correct me if I am wrong!), he's never sucker punched someone or hit a downed opponent. This is all on top of Cooke being a 35 point player as well. That is why i said he wasn't worse than those two.
-
Cooke is not worst than Gillies or Matt Martin. I hate Cooke, but he would NEVER try to Bertuzzi a player or rip the helmet off an injured and proceed to punch them in the head. Cooke can actually play good hockey. Everyone gets a hard on for hockey players that can score 30-40 points a season and fights. Cooke plays the exact same way as OV, Richards and Brier, except they score between 80-100 points a season instead of 40 points a season. Plus, Cooke doesn't cheapen the integrity of the game, he's just one player. What the majority of the Islanders did that game cheapened the integrity of the game. After the Savard hit, the next game he fought the Bruins' tough guy. After all his cheap shots, he owns up to it and fights. What the Islanders did was for the pure purpose on injury and to send a message.

Wings getting healthy, Vancouver breaking down = 1st seed in the West for the Wings. -
And no offence to the Flyers, but their record is extremely bloated from beating on the terrible East. The better teams feast on the bottom 3-4 teams in the East. Unlike the West, where EVERY team except for one is in the playoff hunt. I think they are a great team, but I have faith that the Wings or Canucks could beat them. And as we all saw last year, all the teams in the East are equal when the playoffs start due to them having to only play against the better teams.
