Wow... Stay classy LGW!
-
The game changed and so did the Wings. That's why we stay on top. Also I hate to break it to you, there are more and more Europeans being brought to the NHL. Less Russians, but an influx of Swedes and Fins. It's only a matter of time before the "guys who can take a punch from Orr" are gone form the game. Dallas Drake was a special player. Look at his age, though, he was near the last of a dying breed. There are maybe only a handful of guys in the league that fight and score on a regular basis. The only person on the Wings I'd replace with a guy who makes the same as him, or slightly more, would be Miller. i think Miller is highly replaceable, but as I've stated before is that our 3rd and 4th lines are the best in the NHL. Why would you want to change that? And there is no such thing as an intimidating "corner digger". Wings have two of the more devastating open ice hitters in the league. Picky picky.

I didn't see any punches to the face at all. I see a couple shoves to the chest. If that's enough to get decked in the face, then if Holmstrom fought he'd punch a guy in the face after every shift.
-
Yes they can. One, possibly two, no more than three on a team is enough if you want to win regularly. Drake was awesome for us because he had a niche that he filled well. A whole team of Drakes will get you a lottery pick. Plus, find me a tougher guy in the league than Holmstrom. He gets his ass beat more than anyone on a regular basis. Is he not tough?
-
How did he get this concussion?
-
Except Kulemin never threw a punch. Pushing =/= punching. And he never dropped the gloves, while Gleason (who I like) did drop his gloves.
-
Total cheap shot, but you better believe that Kulemin will be the first to drop the gloves the next time he wants to fight instead of just jawing away.

We have the best bottom six in the NHL. No one else's bottom six puts up as many points as us or spends as much time in the opponents zone as us. And I've said numerous times, i'd take a few tough guys over Miller. But that is a "would like to have", not a need or even a want.

The poll and title are incorrectly worded. Am I voting who I think is the most hated on LGW, or who I dislike the most? because that will yield two different answers. I took the poll as who I dislike the most and I picked Snow. Snow - Terrible GM. I would have picked him before the whole Nabokov thing. Crosby - Great player, giant ******, great humanitarian. Gets a terrible wrap because new posters see the majority of posters bash him so they want to fit in and do the same. Many many players do a lot worst things than him, but aren't as vilifiedpast as Crosby. Mindfly - Took more crap than anyone and never badmouthed a single poster. Claude Lemiux - Outstanding player. One stupid incident in which he stated he regretted. Took his asswhoopin' like a man. Jiri Hudler - The dude loves hookers. Jason Williams - Just sucked. had no ill will towards him. Corey Perry should have been on this list over half these guys. Aaron Downey wins this 11 out of 10 times! Welcome to LGW

Steve, you're like one of three people who think it's a double standard and there are inconsistencies (I'm not counting the people who are clearly Crosby haters no matter what i.e. Sydney, crysby, crybaby terms used in their "point" of argument). You're having to defend one sentence in your argument "Ad nauseam" because, maybe it's you who is wrong, and not all of us.
-
I'm righty and shoot righty. Yah Datsyuk!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
It's not a double standard in the slightest. A foot injury keeps you confined to crutches or a chair. A hurting back keeps you constraint to a chair and/or pain killers. What are you going to do with a concussion? Tell the guy to put on sun glasses and keep his eyes closed to keep away bright lights? Again, not a double standard. The Crosby hate on this board is at an all time high.

So...... if/when Miller isn't re-signed, who will the 14th forward be? Hmmm, how about iFlip? Yah, that sounds about right. And find one post where anyone has said iFlip should be on the team next year over Emmerton. No one has said that. Everyone agrees Mursak and Emmerton are on the team next year.

Just because you wrap a tissue in barbed wire, it still won't make it any tougher
-
Season's over, no more waivers.

The whole "having a fighter/tough guy stops players from taking cheapshots on your team", is just a myth. I'm all for a guy who puts up 20+ points, isn't a defense liability, and fights on occasion. But just cause a player fights, it doesn't mean it should should give that guy an extra million ala Neil. Stuart would still be injured whether this team had Tie Domi or the Stay Puft Man. Stupid players are going to do stupid things regardless of who is on the other team. And yes, players of the opposing teams aren't scared of being hit by any Wings, but they are scared or having the puck picked right of their stick and having that puck go the other way for a goal. Forechecking doesn't have to be be about hitting, all it has to do is force the other team to cause turnovers, and a healthy Wings team does that almost as good as any other team in the league, if not better due solely to Datsyuk with great forecheckers Filppula/Zetterberg/Cleary/Helm etc. This team doesn't need toughness. It may want it, but it doesn't HAVE to have it. They needs guys who want and need to compete night in and night out.
-
Some decent points. Plus, they've played the same amount of post-season games and Filppula blows him out of the water in playoff production.
-
Well i think a lot of that is not wanting to pay a guy like Neil 2mil a season. That is just a terrible contract. Carkie, I can see why Holland never signed him. He's 30 years old and didn't play in his first full NHL season until last season.
-
Now you lost me. There is no way he's better defensively than Filppula and he's not better offensively. All he has is more grit.
-
Pass on Neil (although I'd like to see him over Miller) because we don't need forwards. Big yes on Carkner because he plays excellent defense and would be a hug upgrade over Salei and/or Big E. Carkner has the 3rd best +/- on a terrible terrible Sens team who only has one positive +/- player.

And if you kept reading...
-
I don't think it's a lock. I still think we'll bring Larsson over. Although, I'd love to see John in a Wing's uniform!
-
Valtteri Filppula. Double the fourth letter in his names.
