I didn't see Rafalski out there on that goal against.

Even minuses

Good play by Rusty. Bad attempted clear Rusty. Good save howie!

I don't care if a guy fights or not. I just want a guy that isn't one dimensional. If he can fight and play defense, awesome. If he can fight and play offense, awesome. If he can fight and do both, sweet. If he just fights, pass. If he just plays offense, pass. If he just plays defense, pass. Anti-Enforcer/Pro-Enforcer = False Dilemma
-
Not even a point per game player? Bust. At least we still have Landon.
-
G'Damn it I want a G'Damn gold star! Plus, the whole anti-enforcer/pro-enforcer thing is just one big false dichotomy anyways.
-
Let's shore up that defense and win this game 5-1.

It'd be a great trade for this year. But both teams wouldn't do it. Alfredsson has one, maybe two years left. Kindl, Hudler, Mursak each have 10-15 years left in the NHL, and they will all be impact players. Alfredsson is the Sens. No way they trade him. Overall: Terrible Trade.

We both agree Lidstrom is the best defensemen in the league, so no crow needed! Line Combos
-
Lidstrom has played with Stuart 75% of the time even strength. Kronwall and Rafalski makes up 15% of his pairings. Big E and Salei make up 10%. Rafalski 76% with Big E. Letang has spent 55% of his time with Orpik. ButtMuffin 87% with Tobias Enstrom Duncan Keith 70% with Seabrook. Ryan Whitney only 28% with Tom Gilbert. (6 different DMen he's been paired with on a consistent basis and is a +13) No offense, but your switching partner thing is debunked. I could have done a lot more people who switch partners frequently, are on crappier teams, have substantially higher +/- and only a handful of less points. Lidstrom is the best Overall Defenseman in the league hands down, but he isn't the best defensive-defenseman in the league anymore. Zetterberg played 1 minute on average on the PK while Datsyuk played 44 seconds on average. But way to take things out of context
-
Fixed. Holland/Nill and co already said Jarnkrok is staying at least another year in SEL. I bet they do the same with Pulkkinen. Almqvist I suspect will spend another two seasons in the SEL, maybe just one more.

Latest numbers, December 6th, show the cap rising by 3 million. Bonuses are no worry.

Red Wings asked NHL not to pick Zetterberg for all star game
Konnan511 replied to Kingston's topic in General
Lol, this thread makes me laugh. Who else has played like an all-star this year besides Datsyuk (injured) Zetterberg (asked not to play) and Lidstrom (picked)? Maybe Howard because he is tied for most wins in the league? But he hasn't actually been playing like an all-star. I guess the only other argument you can make is Rafalski since he is top 10 in DMan scoring while playing 10 games less than most. Rafalski is the true snub of this team. He's 2nd in points per game, behind only Lidas. -
Agreed, it would not have been a big deal, but then you'd have to include general managers and scouts and trainers in that too. Which I hope not to see because we pay our scouts and upper management the extremely high relative to others.
-
Agreed, plus/minus is always an iffy stat when you are talking about someone in a negative way Joking aside, it is useful when comparing line-mates and teammates. Stuart is a +7 and Lidstrom is an even +/-.
-
Their punishment will be "You must stay in Toronto"
-
And his even strength goals against is the highest. Plus top ten in highest SHGA/60. The only reasons these numbers are skewed, though, is because how unreliable our goaltending situation has been this season.
-
It's not that puzzling really. Lidstrom has the lowest +/- of all our DMen that play on a regular basis. He's out there for a lot of goals for even strength, but he is also out there an equal amount goals against. His defense has slipped, but his offense has stayed awesome. sidenote: when i say defense has slipped, it still means he's top notch defensively, but they are some players that play better defense.

No. If I make 10 mil and you make 1 mil that's 11 mil (amazing, I know) . If I give you 1 mil for taking out my arch nemesis, You now have 2 mil and I have 9 mil, which add up to 11mil (My math is astounding!) You're still at 11 mil regardless. if the coach gives you a mil, now the total is 12 mil and it's cap circumvention.

I disagree. His freshman year he had the highest (22 games played with 12 points) PPG for freshman on the team of anyone not named Kyle Turris. Second year he was second in defense points (32 games/23 points), and we all know how he did last year (42 games/52 points). Smith produced, on ice, before and after we drafted him. He's a prospect that has lived up to his hype since draft day.

Very true, exceptions of course do include Smith.
