Abdelkader out, Bertuzzi questionable for tomorrow's opener
Konnan511 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Or the "he knows the system the best" call-up. Since he signed a one year contract it wouldn't. The two-way only has to do with how much he's actually getting paid while in the minors, it has no effect any other way. The fact he re-signed with a one year deal means his salary comes off the book. If he signed for more than one year, his cap hit would count against our cap. -

We have 23 guys on the roster, how can we call anyone up? Is someone on LTIR or IR that I don't know about? -
Shhh don't say that!!!!!! Remember, it sparked a huge flamefest earlier!!!! iFlip looked awesome in the preseason, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had near a PPG in the AHL this season.

Well if we're going to say things that have nothing to do with Bettman, then I'm mad at Bettman for allowing the Big 3 to happen in Miami.

You really need to think of this from a fail-safe and business point of view. When injuries do happen, do you want NHL ready veterans that know the system to step in or do you want unproven rookies who are a year removed from juniors who don't really know what's going on to step in? The Wings re-signed him for back-up purposes and it was a great move on their part. 1) Yes, Maltby knew he was going to be waived at some point and the "rumor" going around was that Wing's management waived him with the intent that maybe he'd get claimed by another team, this way he would still play in the NHL instead of going down to the AHL. I'm guessing the talks at the negotiating table went something like this: Matlby/Agent: "How much ice time can you give me/my client?" Holland: "Little to none, you'll most likely start the season in GRap and be first in line for an injury call-up" Maltby/Agent: "I/My client want(s) to stay with the Wings. With the family being here and playing 99% of NHL games here, the Wings are the team to play for" Holland: "I can offer you slightly more than league minimum if you'd like to stay, but at some point we'll need to waive you to send you down, are you ok with that?" Maltby/Agent: "Business is business" Holland: "If we waive you, and you pass waivers and the AHL doesn't appeal to you, you can always have an office job here like Downs, Cheli, and all the other veterans we've signed over the years" 2) I'm guessing it had something to do with his family and not wanting to leave. Even on the two way deal, he still makes more than most of us while playing in the AHL. It's always good to have income. And he can still play and he still wants to play, he could crack the top twelve of a lot of other teams, but this way he re-signs with us and still has a contract and could still be claimed to play in the NHL for another team.

Good luck Ritola. You weren't going to be anything more than a bottom line guy here, hopefully you can find your niche on the second of third line in TB. In all reality, even in five years he wouldn't beat out Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Hudler, Filppula and probably one of Tatar/Mursak/Nyquist. He wouldn't crack the top six here, hopefully he can on a different team.

I didn't like this for what you said, i liked it because of your avatar title thing. In Kenny Powers we trust - Chapter 9

NHL Predicts A Capitals-Red Wings Stanley Cup Final
Konnan511 replied to skyphoenix's topic in General
Nope, but I am kidding, though. -
Just as weird as seeing Chelios, Lilja, DMac, Ozzie, Cujo, Avery. Hell, even going way back, Demitra and Lalime lol.

The nerve of them to claim players you think are good and to let players you think are crap pass through waivers!!! You should write them a letter I think that's if he makes it through waivers. If a team were to claim Maltby he wouldn't retire so he could still play in the NHL, but who knows.

NHL Predicts A Capitals-Red Wings Stanley Cup Final

This list lost all credibility after I read this: Have they never heard of Ritola? -
I feel much better drinking now that it's a half hour later which should help me pregame for the bars at 9

Give him a two-way deal and he can play in Grand Rapids and help mentor the younger players. They could use him to teach some PK'n and shot blocking down there.

In a preseason game a few days ago: 1a, +1, 71% on faceoffs.

This is stupid. Why drag down our best offensive defensmen to babysit Big Rig? So instead of having Lidstrom contribute heavily to the offensive side of the puck, he's going to be focused primarily on all defense, all the time.

Three points in three games so far.
-
One assist through five games thus far.

I'm picking him up in my fantasy league so when BigError s***s the bed, Kindl should get a lot of PP time and assists and goals.

So this kid dominates Jnr-C, Jnr-B, Jnr-A, WHC-U17, WJC-U18. Slips to the 4th round because of injury concerns and now is only a couple points of from leading SML at only 18 years of age. It's not a steal, it's a damn shame he fell that low. Oh well, I'm happy with this =]

His top five is the same as mine, except in a different order.

Slashed his face, speared the guy, slashed the guys foot and took him out of the game. Yah, suspended sounds right.
