Traverse City Prospects Tournament and Wings Training Camp Coverage
Konnan511 replied to drumnj's topic in General
It's usually where they go, and then the casino afterwards, or at least that's what DMac said where they were going once we closed the bar haha. -
"Awww crap, we forgot to throw the logo on, quick let's make a 6 inch patch and just stick it on there" "But where" "I don't care!!!"

I'm so glad my nicknames of vFlip and iFlip have stuck. My single contribution to this site haha

Traverse City Prospects Tournament and Wings Training Camp Coverage
Konnan511 replied to drumnj's topic in General
Well I figured I'd post this here since it technically has "something" to do with training camp and Traverse City. I went out to Dillingers and Bootleggers last night for a friends BDay. As we're sitting at the bar I looked to my right and saw a guy who looked exactly like John Keating, but thought to myself, "Why would he be here?", so I thought nothing of it. Then about twenty minutes later the Grind Line walked in followed by Ozzie and J-Ho! They were there for a few hours and here's my interactions with them: As cheesy as it was, I opened with "X, thank you for all you've done for 'us', how's TC treating yah'" Draper: Seemed like he didn't realllly want to be there and passed me off and seemed quite reserved. Maltby: Was absolutely clutch all night. He never wasn't double fisting beers all night haha. Asked him how his injuries feel and he says he feels 100% (might have been the booze, but he looked healthy to me) DMac: He was everyones friend last night. Talked to everyone that came up to him and I never heard so many random people say, "you were/are totally my hero". His reply always seemed to be 'I wouldn't be if it weren't for the Wings" or something along those lines, just an absolutely great guy. Ozzie: Man he's a tiny dude. I talked to him some of the most. I asked him what he was going to say in his HHOF speech kind of off the cuff. This guy is the most humble person i have ever met. He said that he would like to be in the HHOF, but he doesn't know or think he'll get in. I also asked if he think he'll finally get to 400 wins this season and his response was "with this team, I better (laughing)" and we laughed. Jimmy Howard: He's a goalie through and through. He was all GQ'd up and you could tell he was feeling pretty good. I asked him how many years has it been since he's been coming up to TC and he said 6 and quickly responded with "and hopefully another 10 years!!!". This dude is legit and a great guy. This was my Monday night, i figured LGW nation would appreciate this. I'll upload some photos later if you peeps want. -
You know some rookie GM is going to deal for Huet and piss off the rest of the real GMs out there.

Kari Lehtonen doesn't wear his Chuck Norris mask, it wears him
Konnan511 replied to NotTooAbby's topic in General
Best. Mask. Ever. -
College prospects, as mentioned, have classes, and I'm pretty sure their amateurism gets revoked if they attend these training camps and/or preseason games. Chelios use to make up names to attend training camps back in the day to avoid all this stuff lol.

Do our jerseys look different?

He's going to be in Grand Rapids or in the press box and not taking any time from our young studs. So what's the problem here? He's not going to count against our cap or anything negative besides Illitch paying this guy tens of grands to play in the AHL.
-
Yah, I thought that was the rule, but I was more talking about this part of my statement. "this move is just so we can send him to the minors if he clears waivers. Most likely he will still be on the team the entire season, save him being claimed. He'll just spend it in GRap"
-
Correct me if I'm wrong (most likely am), but this move is just so we can send him to the minors if he clears waivers. Most likely he will still be on the team the entire season, save him being claimed. He'll just spend it in GRap or with the big club if there are injuries, but since he cleared waivers he can just be recalled and sent down freely.

What We Learned: The Hockey News 2010-11 Yearbook
Konnan511 replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Ummm, to me it looks like he is giving Datsyuk some props... Staal amasses a few less points than previous seasons and he drops immensely, but Datsyuk drops a lot of points but still stays near the top because of other aspects of his game and the writer acknowledges that Datsyuk is more of an elite player than Staal is. -
Who cares if the league is a joke? If you can make money, then why not make money? The more money Illitch makes, the more money he'll keep spending on his teams.
-
I was thinking the same thing. This is still speculation.
-
Well thanks for such a detailed history on hockey Earnest Hemingway.
-
I don't know if it's been said or not, but you are correct. It wasn't until the game started to evolve in the mid 1900s that the forwards pass was made legal. Up until then, everyone knew you were running the ball. i think the first american football game ended 2-0 or something like that.
-
I give that a 5% of happening. Do you know how difficult that is for a guy who is naturally small? Answer: damn near impossible. Look at Zata and Datsyuk, don't you think they've tried to put more muscle on?
-
Haha true, but OV is a ******. He's cool and entertaining and I love him, but he is a ****** lol
-
Purely for competition, I don't see him getting signed and would be shocked if he was offered a contract.
-
I love this. We complained all the time about players never playing with one time their entire careers, this is a perfect way to do so now.
-
The Devils made sure to turn off the cap option when they entered the off-season.
-
And it's also why players take discounts to play here. You say hocum, I say smart business, regardless if the Wings have to eat a mil or two to save 5 to 7 mil.
-
I was unaware having too much leadership and skill on one team was a bad thing... If the Wings sign Modano, he will score more points next season than Miller will over the course of the next five years probably. Miller got a lot of ice time because of how much the Wings were injured, that won't happen again ~knocks on wood~.

As someone said earlier, just remember that we offer the player as much as they made this past season or a little more than they made, then regardless if they agree to the terms, we keep their rights. This is not, players be re-signed, this is so we keep their rights at the least.
