Wings come out strong and win 4-1 Wings: Franzen, Raf, Flip/Leino, Hank Blues: Tchacukzztch

Good list, mine would be: Up: 1) Secondary Scoring 2) Offensive cohesiveness and play domination Down: 1) Defense = Fail 2) Special Teams

Kopecky> Leino Kopecky> Helm According to the Hawks

I thought that they were on topic, but I apologize if they were. And a player cannot play in the AHL if they have CHL rights, so the majority of the players are 20-24 years old. Many of the elite teams in the AHL simply don't have the room on their team for their top AHL prospects, who would other wise be 2nd to 3rd liners on other teams. I believe, and this is my opinion based on the facts I provided earlier, that the AHL is the second best hockey league in the world. The Red Wings, who manhandled the Swedish Champions, had a handful of players that were in the AHL last year and probably a couple more that will be in the AHL to start this year. I know what you are trying to imply about budgets, but it doesn't have any baring on talent levels of the league. Chicago just plain flopped against a very determined Zurich team. Out of the six games played with NHL vs European teams, the European teams came away with two wins with one being against a dreadful Florida team who lost in OT. This is not a fact, the fact is actually the players that couldn't make the NHL team that went back to their home league was because of the differences in NA lifestyle and hockey. Again, this isn't about talent as it is about money. So if the player isn't good enough for the 4th line of an NHL team and no AHL team will take them they play in Europe and that shows the superiority of European leagues? That's a fallacy I'm sorry. There really is not that much movement in the AHL rosters as it is usually only two or three players that get called-up/sent-down only a couple times throughout the season. But I do agree that the cohesiveness of the European teams could make an impact. But then again there is also a lot of movement as well over there from the lower leagues to the higher leagues and the better players leaving their respective clubs to come over and play in the NHL and get aquainted with the NA style of hockey in the AHL first. Fact...lol I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this part then because when I watch SEL and SM Liga and even the occasional KHL game, I find the product down in the AHL is superior than the product I see when i watch the European games, but that is just my opinion and not a fact necessarily Anytime, and to be quite honest, I wasn't arguing that the AHL IS a superior league, I was just pointing out that it isn't laughable for one to think that it could be a superior league in my initial post. Have a great day...or night, depending where you are! Go Wings!

I blame his g/f then.

Either go with your guts or brains. At least you pinpointed it and if your gut feelings have lead you in success in the past then it makes sense to pick them. I've also got this feeling...that tonight....is going to be a goooood night....

I was expecting pics of the TSN crew, not picks . I don't see why the Flyers are the sexy pick to be in the SCFs. You need strong playoff goaltending which is why I understand hardly any analyst picking the Hawks to be in the SCFs, but the Flyers don't have goaltending which is why I'm bewildered why everyone and their mother is picking them to go to the SCFs. Plus, the old adage, to be the best you have to beat the best and they haven't done that in a while. They haven't even finished higher than 3rd in their own division the past three years while losing to the Pens the past two years in the playoffs. I must be a skeptic because I don't see them being able to beat the Pens or Bruins or Caps in the playoffs this upcoming season with or without Pronger.

Errrr....yes you did. From the first of your posts in this thread: "Was the other goalie's last name "Ghandi"? Who on earth just stands there, gear on, hands at your sides when you have 30 seconds notice that another man wants to fight you? I can't see anything that Roy did that was terribly wrong here." That's good you stand by your opinion, because if you didn't, then no one else would. To call this a "simple on-ice fight" is completely asinine. Why? My parents did raise me to do that exact thing, and I am now a third degree black-belt in Brazilian Jui-Jitsu thank you very much. I was raised not to fight under any circumstance, but I was taught to defend myself. I can garauntee my parents are substantially more intellectual than your parents, so by your standards if my parents are dumb, what does that make your parents. To bring family into this is completely uncalled for and I hope you never do it again as it only detracts from any argument you may have with your ad hominem. Again, this is a huge fallacy! Using an A-Typical sample size to support your conclusion is not a good thing to do. Plus, this is a horrible analogy as well. It amazes me you can liken a hockey fight in Junior A to real life outside of hockey. I can cite hundreds of examples throughout history where a historical icon shied away from confrontations and didn't get eaten alive. Just because this goalie didn't defend himself on the ice, doesn't mean he shies away from moral injustices. Without going into much detail both my parents had a hard life growing up and they never once defended themselves in a physical fight and now guess what, they are more successful than 90%+ of any sampling of people you can find (monetary and quality of life). I had zero intention of responding to this, but after you brought up my parents I really had no choice to do so. You better think twice before you know who you are getting into things with as this goes for Roy Jr. and yourself. Have a good day.

Doesn't matter if we are in Phoenix, Toronto, or Sweden; there is always a "Let's Go Red Wings" chant to be had!

22 for preseason games.

That is quite the Hasty Generalization. You'll find that nearly 75% of the kids drafted in the NHL are from North America. Of the roughly 25% drafted from Europe, just about 16% hail from the Nordic countries. So we see that the draft makes up about 91% from NA and the Nordic countries. The NHL is easily the best league in the world as of now still since the KHL is taking the scraps of the NHL while only persuading only a very limited handful of potential Slavic/Russian prospects away from the NHL. We're starting to see more and more Scandinavian prospects being drafted with the decline of prospects being churned out of the slavic nations. And it is well documented that more and more Scandinavian prospects are starting to play in the AHL as part of their NA development. Draft breakdowns So to take an A-Typical sample size of one or three games and say that it's laughable that the AHL is a superior product to European leagues doesn't quite make the most sense when about 90% of the drafted NHL talent pool the past few years will be playing in the AHL either now or will be for the next foreseeable future. Plus whoever called you names is someone who can't think of anything better to say and probably doesn't have the intelligence to make a constructive argument. I usually ignore those people as it usually leads to one person or the other ending the argument with a: "Well yah!.....(sticks tongue out)..." lol

I really hate bashing goalies (they have the hardest job in all the major sports) unless it involves a Roy, but are you really surprised Hewitt didn't impress you? Mark my words, and re-enforcing the sentiments of the masses, Hewitt won't be able to be a number one goalie that wins a Stanley Cup, let alone the Victoria cup .
-
Is it bad that was my initial thoughts as well?
-
Can you pull up a quote that proves this? Or are you using an appeal to consequences of a belief?

Did you see what they looked like, I'm always up for a good scrap, they better hope they aren't Pen's fans!

Detroit News First round fantasy hockey pick? Top-15 pick?

It's like most countries, there are the safe parts, the corrupt parts, the deadly parts, the (fill in the blank) parts...When talking about how many countries there are in the world, as a whole, Russia is definately one of the better places, but in reality, that's not really saying much. I know I may seem I'm bias, but I plan on living in Russia in the next half decade or so.
-
Not personally, but I have been studying Russian history my college life from 11th century of Russian History to the modernization of Russia. Couple that with studying the language I would say I have an above average understanding of Russia and it's history from the Serfs to the emancipation of the Nobels and to be honest, most of the stories shared in this thread are true as bribes to the nobelmen and Tsar of the past are quite apparent in modern Russia today. Just like racism is still alive in the US today because of our past, the past of Russia also haunts the present Russia.

Irrelevant. That's a fallacy anyways, just because it happens in most instances doesn't make it right to do in another. Saying this thread was about Franzen is like saying LetsGoWings.com is a hockey fansite, LGW is a forum directed towards Red Wing fans. This thread is/was about Franzen's goal scoring in regards to a new role and/or whether or not he'd be a suitable pick in the first round of a fantasy draft or even a top 15 pick in a huge pool of participants. Then why bother posting in a thread regarding that exact thing? Are you that dense or are you really that Dogmatic?
-
You opened the door with irrelevant comments that don't pertain to this thread. I started this thread in hopes to gain a better understanding of the logical path of Franzen's goal output. I was hoping to get input of whether or not his goal production will rise or if it will be stagnant due to reaching his peak or not being able to staying healthy. You turned this thread into something completely different .
