As others have said, Helm will CONTRIBUTE the most, but between Leino and Williams I think Leino will get more points since I personally feel like he's more adept to getting the grittier goals.

Why? I'm fairly certain he can still be set down to the minors since he didn't lose his send up/call down options. One way contract means he's getting paid that amount regardless if he is in the AHL or NHL you dumb piece of stuff and stuff and more obscenities!!!! This team has too much depth, i can't predict these lines anymore, I'm going to start rooting for the Leafs.

Have Bert on the second line and JWill on the third line to spread the speed. JWill has better offensive talents, but a third line of Leino, Bert, Cleary is a awfully slow line.

Whoa whoa whoa, you don't think Turco and Eaves and Marleau and Vermette could be signed for around 5-7 million total? We could easily through Kovy in there as well if we wanted to push it to around 8 million total for all those guys.

There's too much anger in these forums these days and it's pissing me off see every thread get derailed. Trade each other your numbers so you can text it out or e-mail it out. Two things that I need to point out. Franzen was brought here to be a grinder, not a scorer as he didn't show that much offensive potential. So, technically, he was brought in here to be tough. Why do you feel bad for a millionaire's family? Your kids are going to see you back down sometime in your life and humilate yourself, get over the fact Franzen did that, everyone else has. Remember boys and girls, everybody love everybody.

Leino and Helm played a full season together last year on the same line. They'd be perfect....purrrrfectly.... fine playing together.

I know you don't get a +/- while you are killing a penalty unless you get a shorty, but is there a +/- stat for the amount of times you were out there and didn't get scored on during a powerplay and times you did get scored on for being out there for individual players? That'd solve a s*** ton of this PK nonsense going on about Maltby.

This should basically be the template as of right now unless we sign a top six forward.

The only problems I have are this. That second line is a very slow line, even with the Finnish Flash that is Filppula and my second gripe is that there is no way Leino will be playing on the fourth line, even with Burt or Prospal on this team.

100% Agree with you. I laugh whenever I see Filppula on the third line and Helm on Second or Eaves on Second/First. Holmstrom is the wild card because he could inevitabley play on the first line as well if Babs goes with a ZDH line again. Personally, I wouldn't mind if he was traded away or bought out as I think Franzen can do everything he does. Happy Hunting LGW

How quickly it's forgotten that Flip is one of the most consistent Red Wings we have as well. Look at the past couple playoffs. I cannot believe that I'm seeing that Filppula doesn't have great hands when his OWN TEAMMATES have said that he has amazing hands. I think they know a little bit more about the game then any of you. "He's not that good of a playmaker" LOLOL. I'll leave it at that. I can't wait to sig all the assinine comments I've read in here when Flip puts up 50+ points this coming season. I like how I can look into any thread on LGW.com and see some Hudler bashing and someone proposing to trade Filppula. Now all this thread needs is a "we need a fighter" and the trifecta will be complete! Here are some cheap guys I wouldn't mind seeing in a Wing's Uni: Eric Perrin plays very good defense, although he is a forward and he can be signed for the cheap. Chris Thorburn, young and plays very nice defense. Plus, for that toughness crowd, look at these PIM numbers the past 3 seasons (69,92,102) Stephane Yelle, plays great defense and is a very good PK'r. There really are some nice additions out there to be had for the cheap.

You are right, there aren't many guys we can pick from right now, but that doesn't mean "we", the fans, have to be worried when our fourth line is out there. There are still a few guys left that would be excellent additions to the fourth line. We have some Griffins that are signed for the cheap and play very solid defense ala the Detroit Mantra of defense for a forward. Eric Perrin plays very good defense, although he is a forward and he can be signed for the cheap. Chris Thorburn, young and plays very nice defense. Plus, for that toughness crowd, look at these PIM numbers the past 3 seasons (69,92,102) Stephane Yelle, plays great defense and is a very good PK'r. There are plenty more players that could do very well for the Wings for the cheap. And none of them would be a 'liability'! Happy free agent hunting Wings!

Or play solid defense to give the top line guys some rest? Just had to throw in a rebuttal. I could care less who plays on the fourth line as long as they aren't a liability.

Am I the only one that agrees with you on this one? He's put up decent number the past couple seasons and will probably come cheap?
