So with ten games left the Red Wings needed to average 3 goals a game to reach 300 goals on the season. so far in two games they have kept that pace. Do people think on this forum that the Wings can reach 300 goals when the regular season wraps up?

Leino should start over Kopecky in the playoffs and it really shouldn't be that hard of a decision. Kopecky point = 19 in 77 gp with 6 goals in 101 shots Leino points = 9 in 13 gp with 5 goals in 11 shots Kopecky +/- = -4 Leino +/- = +5 And before anyone makes the argument that Leino is not as good as Kope defensively I'd like to point out that Leino is only 11 take-aways behind Kope and Kope has 6 times as many games played!!! Kope doesn't hit, Leino doesn't get hit and both players are willing to drive to the net.

If the WIngs get booted in the first or second rounds and Leino barely plays, he will not be back with us next season plain and simple.

This thread confuses me. I thought New Jersey and Boston have been battling for the top spot in the East for the majority of the season...plus I thought the Avs have been near or at the bottom for a good portion of the season as well...

We got McCollum, I've seen enough of his games to be satisfied that he'll be a legit number one goaltender in the next 3 or 4 years. Until then we just use bandaids until then with a goalie and hopefully the salary cap is on the rise with a larger TV contract and new CBA amendments

Yes, but the player Union's focus is to maximize player profit aka salaries. If one guy starts talking about a trend to lower salaries, then that would upset the NHLPA...which it has now The NHLPA does to an extent about player happiness, but they want to see high salaries to create more utility for the players. And the NHLPA I bet hates the Wings. They get guys to cap hits WELLLLLL below market value which will start to lower the contracts of other players, causing a ripple effect. See, this is where economics comes into play. Lower salaries does lead to more jobs in that market. But what you're missing is that if you field the same team and are competitive or improve, ticket prices will increase to seek maximum profit. Owners don't care if the arena isn't sold out, they just care about making the most profit on a nightly basis. if u nearly sold out every home game the previous season then a few guys take pay cuts, more than likely ticket prices will stay the same. If the team was successful the previous year, then the prices would increase shifting the demand curve to the right while the supply curve doesn't move.

I'd say his defense is pretty decent, seeing how he has a nice +/- in the few games he played in, even one of the game Detroit got thrashed in. I wouldn't mind seeing Leino fill in for Franzen if we get Hossa signed.

But I am predicting that our boys will get tossed around in the first and LGW will complain about team toughness as we'll be down by a goal. In the second we'll even the score but after a few scrums LGW will complain even more about not having enough team toughness. Then as we put the game away LGW feels comfortable with the team we have

He's played great. He deserves some Hart talk for the way he kind of carried the Devils when MB was hurt, but then again I don't know how much their system helped with just throwing any goalie in net. But it really is nice to se Zach step up his game like many thought he could.
