Before Thornton joined the Sharks Patty didn't accomplish anything spectacular. So I still stand my statement, you shut down Thornton you shut down that whole line, which includes Patty. Before THornton, Marleau never put up more than 57 points in a season. That doesn't scream dominate player does it. He sucks at passing too, so if you keep Thornton from using his amazing passing ability to feed the other forwards on the line, there is not much of a threat from Marleau to do any damage. Marleau has a very good shot, but if he has to go end to end with the puck since Joe T wouldn't be able to get off a nice pass because of Z or D being all over him, then I have no worries. It's the same thing we did against the Pens, shut down Crosby from using he amazing passing ability and you shut down Malkin as well. Match Malkin with a great checking forward then he is shut down doubly.

If Malkin is told to play defense to better the team's chance of making the playoffs then Datsyuk could catch him. Ovie doesn't need to play defense since his team is going to make the playofs so he is my bet to win the scoring race. Crosby is going to have to help carry his team and play aggressive defense, even more than he already does. Malkin and Crosby are going to have to focuse on playing more defense so their offensive numbers won't increase as much as they use to if the Pens have hopes of making the playoffs, but OV does what OV wants since his team is already in the playoffs basically so his numbers should continue to increase at the same rate.

Any one of those top three lines are as good as half the NHLs top lines, and that 4th line is easily a 3rd or 2nd line on most NHL teams. I don't think we'd fit under the cap though would we?

As much as I do like Helm, I picked Leino because he is quickly becoming great in his own end, plus he is putting up points. Leino has a higher +/- playing on the fourth line than Helm did, plus Leino is also putting up points on the fourth line as well. I'd take the player who is good in his own end and can put up points over a player who is speedy and likes to dump and chase and loves to hit, but doesn't produce at all.

Never said they didn't. In factm i said they have a great cast. Mr. T is the only one I worry about. The sub 1PPG playoff thing was in reference he is in his prime and and chokes in the playoffs along with Mr. T. When Yzerman and Feds were in their primes they were putting up over a PPG in the playoffs. But I still stand by my claim that there is no team that makes me think we would lose to them in a seven game series. Flames = They'll try to hit us and intimidate us but we'll put them away in five games, no big deal Vancouver = All they have is goaltending, no big deal San Jose = Thornton is the only player that scares me on that team and ZD very easily shut him down Ducks = Really? Really? They'd want more? A top 6 forward who is young and also a first round pick sounds like a lot for him. I'd use one of our pending FA and a couple of later to mid level picks. Maybe Hudler+Lebda+3rd+7th. That's two players with Stanley cups, one who is young and has top 6 potential plus mobile d-man and two picks.

It was cheap but it wasn't dirty. Lebda put himself in an awkward position by bending down, if he would have stayed standing he would have been alright. I would have called a charge, but nothing more. When you embarrass someone and put them on their back, naturally they are going to try and get even. Lebda should have known that he had a target on his back for that. Hope he gets well quickly and is back on the ice.

Except break the bank on him and sacrifice the future of the team and it's long term goals. Remember, we are the WIngs, not the Sens or Lightning.

Really? Idiotic? Datsyuk can recognize the pass quicker and tries more adventurous passes with a lot of those thwarted, but when it comes to a nice crisp pass, whether it be sauced or not, Hudler has Datsyuk beat.

I really would go as far as to see he is the BEST passer on this team. Would have been nice to see Leino plant himself infront of the goalie seeing how no one seemed to mind for the Preds.
