Alright I'll give you that one then. I'll agree that they have been above quality shots but I also still belive the goalie hasn't been playing at a 10 level, more of an 8.5. Just positionally sound and getting lucky a few times on not seeing a puck and having it hit him.

YG, do you really think the other goalie has been playing that well? Personally, I think 30 shots from the point all at his chest isn't exactly screaming hot goalie to me. I do think he has been positionally sound, but I don't think he is really stealing the show with all those giant rebounds he keeps giving up. Edit: Not trying to sound condescending! I think Kope is as useless as the next person but I did like seeing him drive to the net, but he should have made his cut sooner or shoot the puck and snowspray the goalie but he left his legs too far apart and that little push had little to no effect on him. Regardless of player X getting a penalty, the PK still needs to not allow a goal. Don't allow cross ice passes and don't let the PP team be on the doorstep with either no one there to contend him or to just allow him to be as close as he wants with no Wings closer.

He definitely could have avoided that collision. He was going too fast to be able to avoid the goalie, he was skidding the whole way there. But it happened and it cost us a goal. Our PK'rs need to learn how to move bodies in front of our goalies and also need to learn to not let them be closer to the goalie than they are.

You're too near sighted on this one NN. Filppula's contract right now looks like it is too much, but in year two/three of his deal it will look just a bout right then year 4/5 he's going to look like a steal. I love Helm as much as the next guy, but he doesn't possess nearly the same amount of offense as Filppula and their defence is relatively the same with an edge to Filppula. The Leino-->Sammy switch is the no-brainer if Leino continues to work on his back-checking like it seems he has. Sign Hossa for the cheap if you can and let Franzen walk or if you can't sign Franzen and Hudler. Name for me ONE time Holland signed a player to a long term deal and traded them away during the season. The person we really should look to trade is Kronwall or Stuart. Aside from tonight's game, Kronners has looked like crap and even tonight he still gets beat wide every time. Same with Stuart.

I think he'd actually make a better Franzen mold than Homer mold. Leino has too much hockey sense and too good of hands to be a Homer. If keeping Hossa means letting Franzen go, then I'll take it if it means Leino will be in full time.

Should be a fair replacement for Franzen when he walks after we re-sign Hossa.

I don't get the whole "Kope fits his role well" argument. What exactly is his role on the team? His check to being check ratio is like 1:5 and he hasn't been able to do anything impressive on the PK like the rest of the Wings...So what exactly is his role besides being a fourth line checker who makes the league minimum with zero offensive ability at the NHL level?

Once he is back to 100% I hope he is! The only drawback is that he still gets beat wide and we already have enough of that problem with our D... I'd like to see Kindl get a game or two to learn how fast the NHL is, then have Big Rig up for an extended period of time.
