So does anyone else think we should put Homer on the third line when he comes back to keep these top two lines intact and use Homer more-so on the PP than 5v5?
-
I don't. Kope can't be sent up and down, Leino can. Pretty simple logic to me. Greater flexibility.
-
I'm soooo excited for the game!!!! Leino and Apple Fritters both playing!~!!! I just learned yesterday the Apple Fritters is one of my best friends cousins haha. Wings: 4 Caps:4 Wings in SO
-
Offensively he has sucked this year, maybe it's due to his linemates or not getting any PP time like Hudler is, but his defensive play has been outstanding this year.
-
With Hossa gone we weill be able to afford Franzen. End of discussion really. Short term it makes sense to dump Filp and keep hossa, but long term, the way Holland thinks, with Hossa gone and probably Hudler being offered an offer sheet, we will be able to Keep the core intact. Filppula is going nowhere, name the last time Holland re-signed player to a long contract and then dealt him the following year.

Blind pass= fail
-
Eh it happens, they didn't have any problems with it the first moments when it was signed or introduced.
-
You mean f*** every GM that voted to accept that rule last year, which coincidentally is, every GM.
-
Maybe he had to drop a deuce or got cut?
-
Actually, that don't have any affiliates. They need to find a club for each one of their non-parent team player. I'm guessing this moves either has to deal with cap situation and him being waiver exempt, or that he needs to get his conditioning up.
-
Agreed. Now that Flip should be getting some 2nd line minutes and some PP time tonight, let's see what he can do with this opportunity to impress the LGW brass.

Because they are only good for three things: Cooking in the kitchen, Cleaning the house, and ******.

I consider myself "level-headed" so wtf? If Holland and Co are really challanging this then good for them, they should, it shows him supporting his team and it shows the NHLPA supporting their employees. They don't really have a case though since the players are being suspended with pay and therefore the NHLPA doesn't have any case. Plus the fact that EVERY GM agreed, even Holland, to the new rule stating if you miss the AS game due to an injury, you must show in good faith that you are injured by not have played the game before the AS game, and if you played that game, at least sit out the game after. This has been way overblown, the lack of Red Wings' games have gone to a lot of LGWrs head.

Quotes from GMs and the Commish himself regarding fighting 1/24 It took a long time for the NHL to adopt a rule making helmet-wearing mandatory, and Bettman wasn’t ready to demand they also stay on during fights. “We’re not going to have any immediate knee-jerk reactions,” he said. “We’re going to have to study things before we make changes, if we decide to make changes. I don’t think that there’s any appetite to abolish fighting from the game, and there are lots of reasons for that, including the fact that it’s been a part of the game. “I don’t think it’s the be-all and end all of our game. I always believed it is an incidental part of the game. But it is a part of the game.” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “What happens when you have a tragedy of this nature, and that’s what it was, a tragedy, is there tends to be an overreaction in the media,” Brian Burke said. “Our job is to make sure this game is run properly, not to overreact, so I intend to listen. Any discussion about the elimination or abolition of fighting will be a very brief one. I don’t think there’s any support for that whatsoever, of a meaningful nature.”

A player who sits out of an all-star game due to injury must sit out the game before or after the all-star game. They are being made to sit out the game after the all-star game. End of Story.

Yah, apparently that was taken from a site that translated what he said which is why i got rid of that part because it isn't true. So disregard that one sentence, everything else I posted is a lot more important anyways. People are bitching that this is unfair and stuff, but it's in the CBA and it is something EVERY gm in the league agreed on last year. So what's the big deal? They could have gone and participated in the promotional aspect of the AS festivities, regardless of health, unless noted by the team doctors.

Standard Players Contract state that "The player agrees to give his services to play hockey in all NHL games, all star games, International hockey games, and exhibition games to the best of his ability under direction of the Club in accordance with the provisions hereof" D) To cooperate with the Club and participate in any all reasonable promotional activites which will in the opinion of the Club, promote the wellfare of the Club and to cooperate in the promotion of the league and professional hockey generally. a player who refuses to play or attend the promotional events would be in violation of some portion of the SPC It's in the CBA plus... NHLPA executive director Paul Kelly said he expects the league to discipline the two players by having them sit out Tuesday against Columbus. "Yeah, they have the ability to do and they have done it," Kelly said. "They're trying to strike the balance because their view is if you can't skate for a legitimate reason, then you ought to come and participate in all of the events because it's important for the sport." And in a recent article... Campbell said the league's general managers agreed last February that a player who misses the all-star game must sit out the regular season game just before or just after it to demonstrate that he is really injured. He said commissioner Gary Bettman pushed for the rule because too many players were skipping the all-star game without good reason in recent years.

False. CBA or whatever document says if you miss the ENTIRE weekend you must miss the game before or after the AS game. Lids and Datsyuk are missing the ENTIRE weekend. Out of the 3: Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Crosby; which one is not missing the ENTIRE weekend?

Will Capitals Backstrom be given 1 game suspension?

Yah I heard something about that, something about him having to caryy the team or something is leading to them. -
I know in college hockey it is the same because the team I am assistant coach for we have been short benched due to acedemics and have played games with only 13 skaters and 2 goalies with one of our skaters being the 3rd string goalie haha.
-
It's something I heard about a long time ago (5/6 years ago?) and I am assuming it is still in effect today. I would be willing to bet my reputation that it is still the same rule that you need 10 skaters and two goalies dressed to start a game which is why a while ago this season one team had to sign their trainer or whatever for the day to suit up for goalie because their goalies were injured or whatever.
-
The CBA specifically states that the spin-o-rama is a legal move. No interpretation needed on that one.
-
Technically all you have to have is two forward lines and two defense pairings and two dressed goalies to start a game. If a team ever goes below 10 skaters during a game due to injuries/GMs then that team must forfeit as they fall below the 10 skaters rule.
