He's had a great season for us, but you can argue he's not even been in the top five for best goalies this season. I love Howie and his play this seaosn and hope he keeps it up. Rookie year Jimmy is much better than Sophomore year Jimmy

I'd love to hear how he hasn't. I guess getting an assist in his first two career games isn't impressive while looking damn good on the powerplay as well. Commie has been largely unimpressive in his games that he has played. I haven't noticed him do anything that would warrant another shot in the line-up any time soon with his lackluster play. If there is an open spot in the line-up to White, Lidas, or Kronwall, Smith should play. Any injuries to the other 3, maybe play Commie for at least one game. i don't hate Commie, I think the signing was a good idea, but after watching Smith play this season, Smith is clearly the better player.

From what i understand, you can sign someone on an emergency contract for situations like this and it doesn't count against the cap.

It's because he was undervalued. Put up 36 points then 26 points while being tossed around to three teams and finished his season with 9 points in 17 playoff games for the Sharks last season. I'm glad he took below market value instead of follow the dollars. he's a real team player and a very under appreciated guy, even before he suited up for the Wings.

That's a good start, but it would probably take Mursak as well. If all it took was Kindl, Tatar and a first for him, I'd be on board, but that is probably the deal holland would have to through out there just to not get laughed at.

Crappy-Average players last season were getting at least one first round and/or a high tier prospect. An outlier here or there doesn't change anything. The price for Hossa was medium to high at the time because the players given up were thought of at the time to be can't miss prospects and it looked like two top six forwards were going to be given up in the deal. And Kovi was dealt with his deal because of who the GM was dealing him to. It would cost the farm for a potential rental player when we could just get him as an UFA potentially.

It would not be wise for the Wings to trade the future of the team for one player and that is why Holland won't trade for him when we can sign him come free agency. It's great to have dreams, but this is one that will NOT come true, at last at the dead line.

Stuart, Datsyuk and Zetterberg all playing much better in the 2nd quarter of the season. If it came down to Ericsson Smith and Kindl, I'd sit Ericsson, especially after that terrible penalty late in the game. Otherwise, the team is looking good and I have no real complaints besides our terrible PP.
