As much as I like Sammy's cap hit and defensive play, I'd take either of those two of him.

LEINO!!! That's my boy!!!! Go Fins!
-
Looks like a broken nose to Helm. ouch.
-
Helm and Leino are both showing they belong in the NHL. I'd rather they lead the AHL in points than get 0-5 minutes a night on the Wings though.

Homer keep your head up
-
Lilja playing physical? Nice hit
-
Leino drives hard to the net, making a strong case for himself for the big club. Kopecky easily pushed over off the faceoff
-
Damn, i have been one of the largest advocates to let Helm stay in the AHL for one more year due to the cap crisis, but oh crap, this kid is awesome.

Does anyone know the Irish population in Newfie?

So Holland to speak during the 2nd period, good thing about him is that he doesn't *****-foot around things and is very honest when it comes to players, so hopefully he'll give us something.

Super excited to see the Finnish Twins

Since Bulin clleared waivers he can be sent to the AHL. If the Hawks' want to recall him he is put on re-entry waivers. At this time a team can claim him and only have to pay half of his salary while the Hawks' need to pay the other half. Since Bulin is on a 1-way contract, his whole salary counts against the cap whether he is in the minors or not during the offseason due to the 10% rule, but during the season if he is still in the AHL his contract does not count against the cap, but the Hawks' pay that full amount still.

He wore one his first year in the league.

Link The Wings might think playing Helm 20 minutes a night in Grand Rapids would better his development. Helm understands that, but doesn't necessarily agree with it. "I'm not going to lie, I'm not going to be happy if I do go down there, but I know it might happen and I have to live with it and work harder to get back up here," Helm said. "It's the way things happen sometime." The Wings want Leino to go strong to the net and that's exactly what he did on his goal. "He has great hands. He just has to skate and go to the net," Babcock said. "He's an NHL player in waiting." "Coaches and players told me to go more to the net," Leino said. "It's been hard to feel comfortable but I got a lot of instruction and I feel like I'm getting used to it. I just want to make the team and I'm trying to do that. We'll see what happens." Lidstrom said he is hoping to play in an exhibition game this weekend. The Wings play Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The regular-season opener is Oct. 9. "I've got to go see a doctor about the nose," Lidstrom said. "We'll see what he says about it. I'd like to get into some games before the regular season starts." As for whether he plans to keep the visor long term, Lidstrom said, "I'll see how it feels. There's a possibility, yeah. I'm going to wear it a few times and try to get used to it." Pavel Datsyuk sat out, bothered by a sore groin. Babcock is being careful with Datsyuk, although Babcock does expect Datsyuk to play later this week. "We didn't think he had anything the other day, we were cautious," Babcock said. "He came in (today) and he was sore. We can't fool around this time of the year."

I don't get how you think Pistons is a good name, but Red Wings isn't. They both reflect the auto industry in Detroit...
-
True, I would love to hear Babcock say his name, I bet it is awesome haha. Houdler and Filipoola would agree.
-
Is he on a two-way contract? If not, his salary counts the same.
-
I thought I heard it as LIE-no

Don't get on your high horse and single me out. I was just explaining why the "elite" were getting in a tussie, I guess the sarcasm in my post went above your head eh.

Priceless, I'll never forget the Domi incident, too funny!
-
If you car/pool or anything and park near the rink, make sure you just go from point A to point B and you'll have no problems. No need to wander off after shiny things you see.

I know it just gets annoying to have re-explain things every year i.e. Why do people at the Joe throw Octopi on the ice, where did that originate from, why do the wings have different fonts on their jersey this year? Is it normal to have a third nipple? These things just get repetitive and annoying.

About time. Now it'll play out more like OT hockey. The one bad thing about this is that the games will be shorter (I assume) and I have a lot of things going on at night and get home around 10 or so and am usually able to catch the last few minutes of the game.

Mindfly, i know you aren't from North America and are just curious. Basically the Wings were labeled as too soft going into the playoffs, so they needed to add some power into the line-up. At the trade deadline after many teams gave up their farms for rentals, Holland traded a pick and a COMPLETELY unknown Matthias for a "hopefully" rejuvenated Bertuzzi. Bert played decent during the playoffs and showed flashes of him old self. Holland wanted to sign him for a year, but Bert wanted security; Burke swooped in and signed Bert and we were left w/o Shawn, a pick, and Bert; The Wings were left with cap relief and the ability to focus on other prospects i.e. Ritola, Helm, McGrath and other Wings' prospects.
-
Schneider just needs to be traded soon so all of this will stop. But just for fun, who do you think would have the upper hand in negotiating a trade: Burke who NEEDS to get rid of Schneids, or a team that NEEDS a top tier defensmen?
