Two-Way contracts have NOTHING to do with waivers at all. A two-way contract means when the player is in the minors their contract doesn't count against the cap fully, only a fraction when they are in the minors. players on two-way contracts: a) that make more than 75,000 in the AHL are subject to waivers on the way up (re-entry) and the way down b) that make 75,000 or less in the AHL are only subject to waivers on the way down; also, after they clear waivers at the beginning of the season to be assigned to the AHL, they only have to clear waivers if they have played 10 NHL games or are on the NHL roster for 30 days during the season. Any player who has played three seasons since signing his first NHL contract or has played 180 NHL games must clear waivers before he is assigned to a minor league affiliate. Once a player is placed on waivers, teams have 48 hours to put in a claim on that player. If more than one team places a claim, the team with the lower number of points in the previous season is awarded the player. If no team places a claim, the player can be sent to a minor league affiliate. When a player clears waivers and is sent down then is called up again, he would not have to clear waivers to be sent down again unless he's played 10 games or been "up" for 30 days.

In a fight: Vernon, in the SC Finals Roy... Cory Cross or Rory Fitzpatrick

I know off topic, but where did you find that bumper sticker (I know Facebook, but how)???? I ask because I made it lol!
-
Good for you! And you'll get to see some of our better prospects as well, maybe get some very nice autographs?
-
Good post, and here's hoping to Z and D produce like they are for the unforeseeable future!

Haha that's what I was thinking too. If I was GM I'd take 3rd grade English over, then buy Lowe a drink. I'd take over Toronto and buy out every contract and start over as an expansion team.
-
Huh? Lowe was drafted by the Oilers and finished his career with them after playing a couple seasons for the Rags... Lowe Hockey Career I see his comments as a compliment. Only time I ever had a problem with him was when there were those stupid false reports that he was going after Filppula.

Both parties offer up players that they feel is of equal talent. Flips examples are going to be overpriced players who had aorund the same point totals while Holland will offer up a few players that had the same totals but a very low salary. The third party then meets somewhere in the middle. You can see Flip making anywhere from probably 1.25 Mil to about 3 Mil at most. Flip gets his money and Holland gets to keep Flip!
-
NHL Salary Arbitration is different than most arbitrations. In the NHL you are allowed to "split the kitty". Flip will show, I think, 5 or 6 players who he likens himself to and their arbitration while Holland will show the same number of players he feels Flip is equal to. The neutral arbitrator will then find some middle ground and both parties are happy. Of course Flip is the happiest, because either way he is making more money than he once was!

I've been wondering this. Players in their last year of their contract can be signed to an extension right. Two questions, do these extensions factor into the players cap hit that season or does it kick in when their previous contract expires leading into to their new extension? Seems simple eh, but then I ask this. Would it be feasable to sign a player like Flip to a one year deal at X Mil. Which would put him into a contract year. Then a day or so later sign him to a Y year Z mil.extension since he is in the last year of his current contract? This would sign him to a deal that would take him off the RFA market and then give him the security for the future that all players want. All while keeping his cap hit for this coming season to a low number and getting him off the RFA market.

"Where do I begin?," started Lowe. "He's a moron, first of all. Secondly, he really believes that any news for the NHL is good news. Thirdly, he loves the limelight and I don't think anyone in hockey will dispute that. Lastly, he's in a pathetic hockey market where they can't get on any page of the newspaper let alone the front page of the sports, so any of this stuff carries on." "But the reality is, I hate the fact that my name is linked to his. He's an underachieving wanna-be in terms of success in the NHL. He won a Stanley Cup? Great. I've won six Stanley Cups, you want to count rings? Who cares, it's just a little pathetic that he carries on." Link

The best teams will be the healthiest and deepest teams.
-
Oh I completely agree. It will be enjoyabe watching this TB team more than the Cindy Penguins.
-
So Tampa Bay really is going to be the new Penguins eh? All Offense and no defense.
-
...? Never saw one word butchered so bad before lol. As for Jagr, he's always been one of the most talented forwards in the league. Do people think he is a lock for the HHOF?
-
Like others have already said Ville Leino will have ONLY 2 scenarios play out. 1) He will play for the Red Wings and NOT play for GR as KH had promised him or 2) He will be back in Finland if he doesn't make the Red Wing's squad.

Link You should be able to find it, if not, damnnn....

Link Wings and Hawks only teams to get an "A" or better (not A- or better) on the first day of free agency.
