Pressure now to get Filppula signed

"We" might not even be able to pay him the minimum once/if "we" can re-sign our RFAs! =(

Pressure now to get Filppula signed

Ahhh, i thought you meant give him like 2.25, 2.75, 3.25, 3.5, 4.5 or something to that nature where the first years are low then it is back loaded. I thought, that you thought, if we gave him a "low" early salary but a higher average salary in hopes that the early salary is the amount that counts towards the cap, not the average.

Pressure now to get Filppula signed

That's what I am hoping he/they do. KH: Flip, take a pay cut this year for one season then when your contract is up we will over pay you slightly to make up the difference. VF: Deal!

Pressure now to get Filppula signed

I think he meant though you count that year's salary for the cap hit where it was in the old CBA, in the new CBA it's the average.

Pressure now to get Filppula signed

I wouldn't be surprised to see him and/or Hudler and/or Lilja moved in the coming hours or days for some decent draft picks.

Can't do that under the new CBA. Learn to CBA.

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

Who is this Hossa guy everyone is talking about? Is he any good? Is he better than Rolston or Naslund or Big Bert? I bet he doesn't produce in the playoffs like my boy Malkin does or Jeff Finger...

    TSN Panel Loves Us

I had no idea either until I saw his fat contract.

    Stuart Re-Signs: 4-years @ $3.75m per

    LOL I know.
  10. I don't think a lot of people understand this point. Well done!

    Mike Green Re-Signs w/caps

Great signing, Green has been one of my favorite Defence Men ever since he entered the league, even got his Jersey-T a few years ago. He'll be up for the Norris in two or three years if not next year.

    Lilja re-signs w/2-year, est. $2.4M deal

Well we'll need the depth I suppose with Lilja and the competition hopefully will be there with the you younger guys battling for the 3rd pairing. but this is a little disheartning "He spoke briefly with the agent of restricted free-agent forward Valtteri Filppula but doesn't expect any deal to materialize until later in the summer." I was hoping he'd have him signed before teams could make offer sheets towards him.

    Red Wings, little Drama

Link "Holland has stated that Stuart would have to take a pay-cut from the $3.5M he earned last year if he wanted to remain in Detroit."..."For his part, Stuart has said that he loved his time in the Motor City and has a desire to stay. However, rumors are floating that his former team, the Los Angeles Kings want him back, will pay more, and give him more ice time." "If Kyle Quincy, Derek Meech, or even top-prospect Jonathan Ericsson show they’re ready for NHL action, the issue(10 D-Men) will be addressed via trades." "Filppula has already made it known that he wants to stay in Detroit and money won’t be an issue."..."Look for the Wings to lock him up long-term in the $3-4 million per year range." "Holland is allowing Drake time to contemplate retirement while a decision on either McCarty or Downey isn’t expected until late this summer. It’s believed that the Wings want to carry at least one enforcer." "With Johan Franzen, Henrik Zetterberg, Jiri Hudler, Tomas Holmstrom, Kirk Maltby, Brent Lebda, and Nick Lidstrom all becoming free agents in the next two seasons, Holland will have to be careful of how he allocates [this offseason's] funds." About sums everything up eh?

    Free Agent Day

It's like they are the Penguins
  15. "Whatever's ailing his shoulder has apparently been deemed a relatively minor injury by the specialist he saw in San Jose, so he won't need surgery to correct the problem." "Holland will need to give his best "buy into the program" (as he told Mr. Khan) sales pitch to Pat Brisson, because there are bound to be at least two or three GM's who see a rock-solid, physical, stay-at-home guy who just won a Stanley Cup as a worthy recipient of a $4.5-5.5 million contract, and there's no way in heck that KH will pay Stuart over the $3.5 million he earned this past season." "Ken Holland has stated that he's going to match any offer for Filppula, who earned $850,000 this past season. It's arguable that the Wings will probably settle on a contract in the $1.5 million range with him anyway, so anything under $2.6 million wouldn't strike a serious blow to the Wings' cap situation." Just in case here are the salary comp. of note: $1,307,812-$2,615,625 Second-round pick $2,615,625-$3,923,437 First- and third-round picks FLIP VALUE Stewie & Cap

    Cool Billboards

The Griffins are putting up four billboards that say "Stanley Cup Champions: Raised in Grand Rapids!" -- for Valtteri Filppula, Jiri Hudler, Niklas Kronwall and Darren Helm -- each with one picture of them hosting the Cup and another of them in their former Griffins uniforms. per Det Free Press

Re-Signings, Stuarts Shoulder, Flips RFA value

He is in the last year of his contract, he can sign anytime, doesn't have to be July 1st or does it? Is this new under the CBA that you can't sign a RFA until their contract expires?
  18. Konnan511

Canadiens hand out qualifying offers to 6 players.

I can guarantee that Flip was offered the same salary as this season sometime after we won the cup in the form of a basic contract. This ensures that we retain his rights when July 1st comes if we hadn't signed him by then. That's all you have to do is offer the RFA to be a contract of the equal or more value than their current one to retain their rights.

Wings vs Leafs on October 9th

4-1 Wings Zata, Kronwall, Lids, Hudler The Janitor (I don't know who they even have left after their recent fire sale/ buyouts) Wait...too soon for a GDT prediction?

    Cheli close to re-signing

Link The Wings wanted to make sure Chelios, 46, would not balk at being a healthy scratch for probably around half the season's 82 games.

    Cheli close to re-signing

I don't see why so many people are against this. It's like no one read the damn article. He said he is 100% ok with playing have the games. Leaving the other half to the younger guys to be brought up the right way. If he doesn't get re-signed and we have a slew of injuries, and I hear any of you that didn't want him wishing that we signed him for the bare minimum, you should have to acknowledge you are an idiot haha. The man has played for 51 years, is ok with playing a diminished role to get the young guys time, and has bleed red and white ever since he joined the Red Wings.

    Red Wings, little Drama

Ok, it's awesome we're talking about Filppula but I think this needs more attention than him: "If Kyle Quincy, Derek Meech, or even top-prospect Jonathan Ericsson show they’re ready for NHL action, the issue(10 D-Men) will be addressed via trades." So if we get everyone signed, who goes, and for what?
  23. Konnan511

    Red Wings, little Drama

What if he is signed for 5 years and in 2 or 3 years he is putting up 60+ points? Still bad allocation? I think it's worth it, I rememeber just about everyone saying that same investment in datsyuk was a bad move...

    Game one notes...

Third man in was not penalized. Ott threw the punches, not the guy who got sent to the box.
