I'd just like to pint out I didn't start this thred to have a debate of which types of games are more enjoyable or which goalies take advantage of max equipment sizes, but rather to address that there are other things to talk about besides "the lack of scoring" in the NHL, such as the league not cracking down on "dirty hits" by players who don't have a dark past of them, or even cracking down on the hits to the head at all as we've seen in a few Red Wings' games the past month i.e. Lids and Koppy getting his brain mashed. As Campbell also stats in his article, even if you do try to increase scoring, teams will adapt i.e. when the NHL removed two line passing, teams now stack their defense on the blue lines to prevent the hail mary passes. Campbell also adds that "we", the NHL, can reduce goalie equipment all that want, and make the nets larger, but it probably won't even increase the scoring, he mentions that if these things happen, players will block more shots and teams will look into larger goalies. So my point is, the reason I started this thread was not to bash on certain goalies, or specific hits, but to point out that there are other thigns to talk about besides reducing goalie equipment when talking about how to better the NHL.

Well which number do you suggest? And what size and where should the white strip be, like on the elbow, bicep, forearm?
-
Hmmm, that's a tough one, but here is my best shot at your suggestion, it's hard to do it from scratch, maybe more detail in what you're looking for exactly?

Wow, don't be such a d*ckhead!...Everyone knows the rumor that the Panthers told Anderson that if he allows just a couple more goals over the course of the rest of the season they were going to lock him up long term, and nobody wants that! :-p

HAHAHA, that was sexy, way to go Raffs! I missed the second half of the game, and I hadn't seem the Kopecky cheap shot, but with that video it is clear that was a huge cheapshot! BUt nice body slam by Rafalski eh? I think he can compete in the UFC with that stuff!!!

Dear God! It's the humpback of Dee Twaa

How about one of these (I'm not quite sure what you meant so these are my interpretations)

It's 5 am, and all this talk about a Red Wing third jersey just scares me, but if we HAD to get one, i wouldn't mind seeing something like this, and I know, my photoshop skills diminish after 3AM haha.

You could tell he was a upset to have to leave his family, but I LOVE how he perked up at the end when talking about being on a for sure playoff team. I liked when he said the positives outweigh the negatives of having to move. He also seemed pretty excited to be paired up with Kronwall, he likes that Kronwall is a smooth skater and offensively minded and he feels like they will compliment each other out there. Hopefully after he gets a few games under his belt and our regulars start returning he'll be even more comfortable.

A two-way contract is not the same thing as being waiver exempt. All a two-way contract means is that his cap hit is less if he is in the minors.

Well in all fairness his +/- is pretty scary, but I know his team sucked over in L.A. so I don't fault him too much for that, but the thing I like is his point production. You may say 21 points isn't a lot, but if you take out Lidstrom and Rafalski, the NHL average is 9 points for a defenseman! So Stuart doubles that average and then some, so it shows he is at least competent in the offensive production aspect. I don't know the exact numbers but I think that only Lids and Rafs have more points then him, so that shows where he is in terms of production and if he had our forwards over his, he'd at least be around 30 or 40 points by now with a +/- near 10 at least and everyone would be like ZOMGGGG, but since he has a crappy team his numbers are going to look gaudy. I know this isn't the second line scorer everyone wanted, but with him on the blueline and knowing how to play offense from a Defensemen point of view, he will actually be able to help out our second line and give them better and more frequent opportunities to score. So good move Kenny, with this defenseman, we also get added offense! Let the critiquing begin lol

LOL, one of the best comments in this thread!!!!

Second!

EVERYONE CALL THE F*CK DOWN, now that I have said that, let me reitterate to you, Holland likes to wait things out, he lets all the other teams over spend for players and then he goes out when the prices are lowered an pulls in quality player at or near the deadline, we probably won't start seeing trades for us until 2pm give or take a half hour. So please, calm down!

Horrible trade for Carolina, Chicago just got better. Anyone know why this trade was made? I see this ONLY benifiting Chicago now and also in the long run as Ladd will be a top tier player.
-
If Ladd is on the market, go Huds and a 3rd or 2nd for him. Andrew Ladd is going to be a stud!!!
-
No way, you have to be kiddind...that would be a horendous trade, Ladd>>>>Ruutu.

San Jose got ripped off in my opinion, Campbell is highly over-rated in my opinion and a first rounder for him and a prospect should have sealed it, but they gave up a perennial Selke candidate, and if you don't believe me, then just wait. San Jose...too much. Buffalo got the better deal.

But worse in the penalty killing

I wouldn't mind Hal Gill in all honesty. For being on a crud team he has 20 points which is 8 above the NHL average and he brings toughness that we lack. 6'7" and fights and still produces. I'd take him over Lillypad and Lebs.

Offensively? I see him racking up the assists, I see him being a PP specialist with the rocket attached to his stick. He needs to work on positioning on the PP. When the opportunity has presented itself, he has rushed and created 3 on 2's for us. Offensive upside is there, having been forward his whole life naturally is going to help him be an offensive defensmen. With his above average on-ice vision, I see him as a 50-60 assist, 15-20 goal defensman in the furute, maybe 5 years from now, maybe a wee bit less.
