That happens once, maybe twice a game. Now players wouldn't have to skate all the way to touch up the puck. It shaves off a few seconds each time which adds up to a minute or two per game on that side alone. Then account for players already heading to the face-off dot and the refs getting to position quicker. It'd shed probably ten minutes off the length of the game by these estimates i just made up to support my theory. What he said.

As I said before, he'll be right up there for defender of the year.

I don't want Ericsson benched, but I want him to start playing to his cap hit. or at least near it. His defense is very Lebda like and his offense is very Kuznetsov like. He actually looks like he's digressed to me, and without Rafalski to carry that pairing, he's been very exposed as to how craptastic he his. -
I think RedBengals is closer to the truth than you think. And Eva, you should know by now, as a Red Wing you are only as valuable as your latest game, unless you do something awesome at some point. Remember when Eaves got his hattrick and how he was seen as a God? People forget he really didn't do anything at all after or before that moment. I thought Brunners has looked very good this pre-season, he's playing like he wants to be a Wing, but I've seen Nyquist outperform just about everyone, including Brunnstrom.

That's actually a great point. I think the only pro leagues that don't use no-touch icing are the AHL and NHL. ECHL uses no-touch icing. Junior hockey and college hockey both have no touch icing. International leagues use no touch icing. I'm in favor of no touch icing. You get the one or two instances a game where a player beats it out, but the majority of the time there aren't even heated races for the puck. If you want to shorten the length of a game, then go the no touch icing rule, it'll shave a few minutes off the game.

Read my statements from the Smith hit, there is no hypocrisy.

Like I said early, when Abby wanted to fight, i liked it because he was sticking up for himself after a dirty hit. It's the staged fights or scrums after a clean hit that i want gone.

It actually shortens the game. It was Edler's wild elbow throw and intentional interference that sparked much of the outcry. I can see why he'd be suspended, but I don't think he should, but I can definitely see why.

You do know how much you hate Hudler right? -

Our C team is still better than the Leaf's A team and we don't have any goons, only skilled small players. -

Let's see who really wants to make the team. Flip has already been dominating this preseason, he's on his game and doesn't need to play a back to back, unlike some of these guys who are fighting for their starting line-up lives. -
It doesn't matter if you are facing the boards and I still board you, I never had to board you in the first place. The fact I let up is irrelevant. He still intentionally hit Abby in the head. I'll say it again, he intentionally head shot Abby. Instead of letting up, how about he play the body or puck, not the head.
-
Except for the ones who aren't willing participants. Just like Gillies absolutely disgusting cheapshots on Tangradi last season. You still have the goons that don't care if you want to fight or not, they're still going to come after you because they literally offer nothing else to the team.
-
I think he suspended him because MacArthur went for the head and not the body or puck. You can't do that in the new NHL. Plus it was at the very end of the game when nothing positive for either team could have happened in that final two seconds. Smith's headshot was unintentional. MacArthur's headshot was intentional. You NEED to get rid of the intentional headshots. How can you not see why he was suspended?

The Official NHL Suspension Thread

Wait, he's not out any preseason games, just regular season games? -
Last I heard was that Hudler was going to be on the point during powerplays while simultaneously playing in front of the net on same said power play.

I've missed the blueadamas drinking game oh so much. Needless to say, any line-up that has Miller over Bertuzzi is a fairly crappy lines thread. Need not worry, in a couple days we'll see a new thread.

I know it's been asked a few times, but does there seem like an extraordinary amount of head hits this pre-season than any other time? I feel like there have been more head hits this pre-season than all of last season.

As already stated in the OP...

Brad Stuart - Game to game basis, played tonight against TOR, but nothing is for certain regarding the rest of preseason. Jan Mursak - Out 2-3 months with a fractured ankle. Mike Commodore - Mike Commodore might not be ready for the start of the regular season, Oct. 7 against Ottawa, due to a sore knee.Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said Commodore will be out 1-3 weeks.Commodore hurt his knee in Wednesday's preseason game at Chicago. He said it's an MCL issue and an MRI revealed no damage.“I just kind of tweaked my knee. I've never done that before so it's all new to me,'' Commodore said. " It's pretty sore and swollen. But there isn't any major damage.'' Daniel Cleary - Dan Cleary is out for the rest of the preseason with an undisclosed upper-body injury. The hope is for him to be healthy by the start of the regular season, but it's not clear yet if he will in fact be ready. Pavel Datsyuk - Didn't play on Friday, but he should be able to suit up on Saturday if he feels better about his stiff back. Link 1 Link 2 Link 3 I figured with all the injuries for the Wings and instead of having an NHL injury thread, it'd be a good idea to know what's going on for our home front.

They have one preseason game left, so maybe it's just one regular season game?
