+10 cool points for Volpatti for letting up after the punch. This is what you're doing: This is what I need you to be doing:

5 regular season games is what I figured. It could have gone anywhere up to 10 or so games and I would not have been too upset. I know Ben Smith was an idiot to toe drag at the last possible second, but hopefully next time Brendan puts himself in a better position where he wouldn't have to make a hit like that.

Only if it's within 18 months of his next incident.

Same here, except when he played for the Disney Ducks . O'Donnell also played when Stevens played, so it's not like he didn't have one of the most feared hitters in the league at the same time as him. We hear all the time from announcers who use to play the game that the respect is gone, and if players won't respect one another, then certain hits need to be out of the game or else it's going to turn into "who can hit each other in the head the hardest", which isn't good with the new research done about concussions and the LIFE ALTERING EFFECTS they can lead to. We just had a guy go from 96, 97, 78, 88 points down to retirement, because of these hits and the idiots that do them. -

And this is from Sean O'Donnell Sean O'Donnell has over 100 career NHL fights, and if he is saying that things need/needed to change, then who are you to argue? And here is how O'Donnell hits: He hits hard and legal most of the time. This is how he thinks you should hit players, not like this: -

There are more torn ACLs in soccer per year than hockey, so why do you hate soccer so much? Hockey is still a physical game, the only thing that's being weeded out of it are the hits to the head, which every sport is trying to do and not just hockey. Get over it or stop watching the sport, no one is forcing you to watch hockey if you hate it so much. If hockey was all about hitting and you get one point for every concussion you deliver I'd watch it. If hockey was all about how many saucer passes you could complete in a row, I'd watch it. Watch the sport and quit ******* bitching. The sports evolving and so should you or stop watching it and GTFO. -

Exactly. Wiz is a repeat offender. Shanny may have referenced a 2008 incident, but Wiz is still within that 18 month window. If Smith is clean on hits and actions for the next 18 months, he'll be fine. It's not an incident to incident window. It starts from when his suspension ended to when his next incident happens. His repeat offender status would have ended on October 3rd and not September 18th. -
Zetterberg/Datsyuk Light and Hull light. Would be fantastic to say the least.

Meh, he'll have 18 months to shake off the repeat offender status. He'll be fine since he'll spend this season in the AHL. -
It would be amazing if Holland can work and Erhoff type of deal. Kronwall is a much better and complete player than him, though, which would shock me even more if he ends up with less than 5mil a season. But the comment from Kronner's camp that he wants a front loaded deal means it's going to be a long cotract with a lower than average cap hit. Good job Kronwall!!!

Wait wait wait, Boyes only got 2 games for that? If that's the case, then I see no more than 1 for Smith. It's not brendan's fault that Ben likes the taste of shoulder pads. But in all actuality, his suspension won't matter, since he'll be starting in the AHL and those suspended games will be happening while playing in GRap. This is of course if I am missing something where Smith needs to be a part of the active roster to count towards his games. -

It was poor positioning and a quick offender that ultimately did Brendan in. I don't think the hit was intentional per se, but much like when a player dekes out a defender and the defender sticks his knee or leg out, it's all reactionary and it seemed like Brendan knew he was going to get beat so he did the only thing he could to slow down the guy and threw his shoulder out. I don't think he meant to make contact with the ehad, but he for sure meant to make contact. -
Start him on the fourth line and let him work his way up. Cleary had to do it and so did all the other guys. He doesn't get to start on the first line. But I want him on the team more than Emmerton.

Just think if we would have had Pulkkinen and Jarnkrok and Almqvist out there. -
That's what LTIR is for.

Are we not at the lowest PPO since the 80's? So the NHL is in fact not a PP fest like you claim it to be, while it is actually the opposite. -

You do know the average team gets 3.54 powerpay opportunities, which is the lowest since 1979. Pre-lockout it was at 4.24. Direct your hate elsewhere. -

Not new news. Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen, Cleary, Filppula, Holmstrom, Hudler, Helm, Eaves, Miller, Bertuzzi, Brunnstrom, Abdelkader. Who is Emmerton better than? Not to mention, i see tatar getting extended looks and Johnson playing more than a handful of games as well. Then once Mursak is back, i see little to zero playing time for Emmerton. So again, how are both Brunnstrom AND Emmerton going to be regulars? It's going to be one or the other. -

Of course not. Do you think we are going to go with 15 forwards and only 6 DMan for the better part of the season? Would be incredibly stupid to do so. I can play your game too. Plus, the assumption was brunnstrom AND Emmerton were both going to be regulars/semi-regulars. Then you throw your crock pot comment in.
