I know that about the +/- thing, but I was touching on the fact that the Rangers told him to play defense that year, and he did. The +/- thing was to show that even at 35 years of age, he was still a beast and still dominated on the ice. Jagr is much faster than Hudler, go back and watch the Worlds to see that, not to mention he has tremendous work ethic. Don't confuse lack luster defense with a poor work ethic. You can't have poor work ethic to be a dominant hockey player at nearly 40 years of age. But as stated Jagr @ 1.5-2mil > Hudler at 2.8mil

Sounds good to me! Klefborn would be awesome. Maybe trade up in the second round to grab Mayfield. Hudler + our 4th for NYR's 2nd?
-
I was for Ericsson to come back at 1.5mil or under. But no way in hell is he worth more than that. Lebda thought he was worth more outside of Detroit and Ericsson will be the new whippin' boy of some other team hopefully as well.

His last season in the NHL he played every game, lead the team in points and was tied for 2nd in +/-. The Rangers that year told him to play defense and he did, albeit average defense, he still did. Not to mention, he and Gomez were basically the only guys to show any heart that season.Hell, he dominated in the playoffs posting 15 points in 10 games. If Lundy didn't choke it up in the playoffs, they had a great shot at meeting us in the Finals.

If we could get Montie for 2.2mil or less to be our 4th/5th DMan I'd be happy. That's a move I'd prefer over signing Hammer and Markov. This is all of course if Holland dumps Salei and Ericsson, which I hope to God he does.
-
Jagr at 2mil is better than Hudler at 3mil since they'll give you the same point totals and Jagr would show more hustle and effort out there.
-
False, he say he'd like to add another top six forward, he never said we needed one. As stated a million times, every coach will say they'd like to add a top six forward and top 4 DMan. Holland has stated that their top 9 is pretty much set. No coach or GM will say that their team isn't going to add anyone, that breed complacency throughout the team. Which will make a team work harder? "Everyone's job is safe and no additions need to be made" or "If we need to add a piece here or there, we're going to do it, we're always looking to improve."? Exactly.

Markov has "averaged" 43 games a season the past 3 years while Hamrlik has averaged 78 games. Markov has "averaged" 33 points a season the past 3 seasons while Hamrlik has averaged 31 points a season. Markov has had 5 seasons out of 10 where he was able to stay healthy compared to 14 healthy seasons out of 18 for Hamrlik. Not to mention Hamrlik is subjectively better at defense and still throwing massive checks. I'll take Hamrlik and his 75+ games a season and 30+ points over Markov and his 7-70 games and his 35-60 points. Plus, sounds like Markov will stay a Canadien: 3 major surgeries the past two season...do not want... We all have our preferences, and I'd prefer a guy who will be healthy and produce offensively and be a bruiser on the back end over a guy who may play 3/4 of the games and will command a much higher cap hit. I'd take Montie over both of them, for the right price. But speaking strictly about Markov and Hamrlik, I'd take Hamrlik. Also, if it's for the 5th/6th Dman, i'd take the better defensive player who also clears the crease aka Hamrlik over Markov. I don't see Markov taking less than 5.5mil while I can see Hamrlik taking less than 3.5mil due to his age, and I can also see him accepting one year deals.
-
Well yah, that's what I was going for. Wiz for the top 4 role and then Hammer for the back end role. He'd put up as much points as Markov, command less, and stay healthy the entire season. I don't see why you'd turn that down.
-
We're good on offense. Second most goals and Hudler and Franzen surely couldn't suck as bad as they did last season. An improving Helm will also add firepower. Adding Jagr would just make us even more deadly, although, he is not needed. Spend the farm on defense and a reliable back-up goalie in case Jhoww plays s***ty in the regular season again.
-
That's not how it works...
-
I'd take Hamrlik over Markov. You know Hamrlik will be healthy and stay healthy and he would put up around the same amount of points.
-
I'm surprised it took him this long. He should have just signed in Edmonton as a FA a few years back.
-
He's only upset he got caught, not that he did something wrong. Plus, that was the fakest apology I've ever heard. No tears, no running nose, no eye contact. No blush face. Totally photoshopped.

You can't prorate and extrapolate a player's numbers. It doesn't work like that. The NYI tolled Nabby contract, so Nabby is still under contract.
-
Hopefully it's a two-way contract Does he know how terrible Jimmy was during the regular season?
-
Asset free, yes, but there are going to be teams that are going to be throwing out 4mil+ for him. If the Wings could get him for 3mil or less, then I'd take him in a heartbeat for the sole reason we'd stop losing shootouts.
-
Guilty as charged.
-
I'd rather have Crosby or Ovechkin, but if we're going to be realistic, Jagr is an asset free player who could be signed to an extremely reasonable price who could contribute nicely.
-
Welcome to LGW where being 25 and putting up 40 points > being 40 and putting up 60 points.
-
I can and it is.

You'd have a better chance of turning the Coyotes into a hockey a hockey team before you could turn the Mets into a baseball team.

I'll let you figure that out, because that assumption is very very wrong. I even said he wasn't a contender right now. You should start reading my posts better instead of the ones you merely quote. There are more to threads than just what people quote of yours.
