We'd be fine with that team. But how do you figure Cole will only take a 100K salary cap increase after having one of his best seasons and testing the FA market for the first time in his career? He'll be in the 4mil range. Pitkanen makes 4.5mil (4mil cap hit), why would he take less of a salary to come here and play while testing the waters in a crappy year for high end defensmen? He's going to get 5.5mil, or around there, maybe more. I like your team, just not the numbers you came up with. Plus, Eaves just finished with 13 goals and you expect him to take near the league minimum and not ask for a raise?

Well...they did lose their team already. The city didn't want a new arena for the Jets, but they were more than happy to help fund an arena for a minor league team in the area. That doesn't scream passion to me.

There are a few FAs that would be a welcome addition here. Jay Harrision for a 5th/6th DMan who would/is better than Ericsson and Salei at roughly the same price, if not less. Hamrlik can put up 30+ points and finish +10 for you next season and won't be overpaid due to his age. There are a few more that can step in and help us be a contender this year. Sometimes, a one year contract is just as good as a 4-5 year contract.

TB is a great example. All Southern states have northern transplants. TB continually has one of the highest attendances and a great fan base. Florida Panthers are a terrible example, they are a bad franchise and their fanbase is next to nothing. Hurricanes aren't really the best example either, as they tend to be near the bottom third of capacity percentage. Just a funny side note: Blackhawks finished the 06-07 season with a 62% home capacity percentage of available seating (12,727), THen went to 82%, then 111%...lol No wonder Hawk fans are so annoying...they're still new to the game

I've basically come to the conclusion if there is a thread about a player on these main boards, there is a 0% chance of them coming here, because you look around the league and every team are making these threads. Wings won't overpay, and a contract about 4mil a season is not getting a good value for him. He finally had a breakout year, but this guy is even more fragile than Filppula and anything over 4mil will be lost on the shelf for a third of season, while being compounded because this guy ain't getting any healthier ( twice in the past 7 pro seasons has he played 70+ games). He'd probably get a 4mil offer from the Wings, but a 5-5.5 from a slew of other teams.

Laich mostly played with Semin on a lot of make-shift lines at even strength and only played with OV less than 5% of the time even strength. Laich is like our version of Cleary who literally plays on any line on any given night. OV was mainly with Backstrom.

I really want Hamrlik here on a couple one year contracts. And Hejduk is another guy I thought would come cheap here as well.

Switch Ottawa with Philly or Pittsburgh since those two are "classic teams" from the original expansion. Switch Buffalo with Florida, or otherwise Buffalo's travel schedule is disgusting.
