Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski
Konnan511 replied to wingsownnhl43's topic in General
How in the world did I get neg'd so much for trying to move up 10 spots top a top 15 pick with a realistic offer lol? Exactly. -
I did say that, you just didn't read it.
-
It was a very deep draft for us, but Tatar is the closest thing we have in that draft to a second liner. A2 has a chance to be a top 4 DMan. But 2010 was stacked for us with unbelievable upside in our prospects. Macek is the only guy I don't see being a third liner or higher, all the rest look like second liners to me and Marshall exploded after the draft and looks like a top for offensive DMan. And Mrazek, holy crap did he really explode as well.

Smith sure brings the physical aspect Stuart does, plus Smith enjoys fighting.

Former Red Wings asst Brad McCrimmon named new head coach

Good luck Brad! -
I'm fine with the Wings with or without Stuart. The Wings are a better team with him, but I wouldn't shed a tear if this was his last contract with the Wings. Obviously depending on how much Kindl and Smith progress next season, Stuart's value to the team (and me to an extent) is sure to fluctuate. I do acknowledge that he may be under-rated on this board 9especially by me), but he's one guy I've never been emotionally attached to for some reason or another?

I can only laugh ta myself because I went from saying he looks like a less streaky Franzen to saying "Meh" about him being signed now lol

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski

Rangers need some offensive help and if you pair him with Gabby, they'd put up a hell whole lot of points. We'd be trading up 10 spots. Give them Hudler/Emmerton and our first and 4th. Plus Rangers have 18mil+ in cap space. -
Even more the reason that hits to the head and boardings need to leave the game with the offenders accumulating big suspensions and heavy fines.

Except JWill knew our system and was a right handed shot and was coming off 83 points in 123 games in his years between leaving the Wings and coming back. Jokinen wouldn't be a bad fit, but he's not going to accept less money than he'll get from all the other teams during FA. He just hit his prime and he's coming off back to back seasons of 65 and 52 points, there's no way he takes less than 3.5mil on the open market. If the Wings could land him for 3.5 mil a season, then do it, but he's going to get in excess of 4-5mil on the open market.
-
And he's not playing on "our dime". He only gets paid that money if he is on the Wings roster, otherwise he makes the AHL salary in the AHL, or his old SEL contract is bound to him by that club. If the Wings have zero problem, Babcock, Holland and Hakan have zero problems with loaning him out to a championship winning SEL club that'll play him top 4 minutes and use him in every circumstance against men who may or may not be as skilled as guys in the AHL, then I don't see how anyone could have a problem with it.

Just some back ground on him:
-
Hudler and the rights to HTD and Daniel Larsson Might as well throw Kindl in there for good measure, right
-
We signed him so we didn't lose his rights. I have no qualms with him spending one or two more years in the SEL. Who cares if he plays in a "soft" league. He was a top 4 DMan on a championship team in one of the top tier leagues in the world that produces unbelievable hockey talent. And there's nothing wrong with comparing his style of play to other NHL players if you've seen him play and have followed him since his signing. Plus, saying he has a high hockey IQ (Hakan, whose word I'll take over yours and anyone elses) like other non-physical players in the league isn't the sme thing as saying "OMG, he's smart, so he'll be the exact same as him!!!"

I was thinking more Sarah Walker from "Chuck":
-
You lost me here. Green was injured for a good part of this season. If he played a full season and healthy he would have finished with the highest +/- and points of all their DMen...again. I know he is only average at defense, but the dude still finished top 50 of Dmen this season in points shared, and he was injured for almost half the season. Lidstrom finished top 10, which is expected, and one would have to assume if he had played with Rafalski and was given some free reign he would have finished top 3 in that stat. PS Besides this season, the three highest PS (points shared) for the previous three seasons are: Lidstrom 07-08: 14.4 Green 08-09: 13.9 Green 09-10: 13 So one injury plagued season places Green at the third best on his team? Lolz.

Clowe is going to have the same cap hit as Franzen or more in two years. He has a 3.6 cap hit now and will be making 4mil in salary at the end of his contract and he's going to want at least 4mil, probably closer to 5mil per season for his next and final big payday. It's funny you brought up the regular season, even though I specifically mentioned the playoffs. Past four regular seasons and playoffs: Regular season Franzen 246GP, 173 points. Clowe 243 GP, 179. Playoffs Franzen 59GP, 62 points. Clowe 50GP, 36 Points. They are roughly the same in the regular season, but Franzen holds a wide margin in the playoffs. So again, Franzen had one bad playoffs, and all of a sudden Clowe is better? I'll take Franzen, even if he is a soft Euro. Plus, i don't trust guys who can't spell their first name right
-
Stop mentioning Zherdev! Holland likes to sign or trade for players who play excellent two way games while working hard. Zherdev is on my "Do not sign" list. The guy is a locker room cancer.
-
Not sure if serious...
-
Why? He's fairly shifty and smart about not getting hit. Rafalski made a living of not being big and being able to avoid hits. Even a slow Lidstrom used his hockey IQ to avoid hits as well. I wouldn't worry about his size, as I would about his first step and working on being able to rub people off in the corners.

That MLive/Freep article is wrong, A2 will be in SEL next season for at least one more season there, if not two more years. Out of Pulu, IronHook and A2, I see A2 staying abroad the longest due to his resistance to bulking up per Hakan and Holland's requests. Except he actually knows how to play D

He'll still be in the SEL next season, so it'll still be another 3-4 years before he wears the Winged Wheel
