He's so far from the WIng's radar I hadn't even thought about him. Takes STUPID penalties and only adds an agitator role.
-
I had to look, but you meant they both scored more goals than Hudler, because Hudler had more points. Yah, it's weird that two guys who majorly play on the PK and 4th line were able to score more goals than Hudler...
-
But why? Seto is about to be an RFA come July first and Pavelski is a young key cog to that aging "core".

I love Jay Harrison. Stones in his fist, just hitting his prime, and he won't want more than a mil a season and will put up 10-20 points for us while killing people in front of the net. Plus, he's a good old North American boy lol

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski
Konnan511 replied to wingsownnhl43's topic in General
Maybe a trade and sign would work better? I know it's a massive gamble to trade for a pending UFA, but give us the rights to sign them for the three weeks prior to the start of free agency. That way the team gets something back for their player and we have to only give up minimal assets. It's probably not realistic at all, but it's a way to try. -

If he was a free agent, maybe, but he wouldn't relinquish any assets for him, especially the assets it'd require for a player of his calibre. They'd at least ask for an NHL ready prospect (Tatar/Smith) plus a player just hitting their prime (Filppula/Hudler) and probably an unsigned prospect (Marshall/Aubry) and a couple picks (2nd/3rd) just to land him. That wouldn't be worth it, but a team like Edmonton or St. Louis who have a plethora of picks and prospects would be able to do it. -

Except no one would bring him up as a possibility. The Hossa thing came out of left field because we just won the cup and there was no need to add a big name. -

Playoff hero? Holy hyperbole. He was far more effective in the playoffs than Hudler, Abdelkader, and Franzen. Mursak's wheels are only a slight upgrade over what Draper has. What's the problem with Draper playing 35 games and Mursak playing the rest? Draper is more adept at scoring in the NHL and his understanding of the NHL playing field is far superior to Mursak (who I think will be a solid 3rd/4th liner in a few years). Draper is the better player between the two, with Mursak only having the advantage in speed (slightly) and youth. Those two splitting time is not a negative, look at what Draper has done for Helm, why not have him do the same for Mursak?

How do you feel about Jay Harrison? I'd like him over Salei AND Ericsson. Ewww to Zherdev and Gagne....ewww

I negged it because Franzen AND Kindl for Clowe is retarded. Holy over payment. Franzen has his first playoff in four years where he isn't a PPG player and now Clowe is the better player after he had a breakout playoffs. And then throw in Kindl who has all the makings of a top 4 DMan. Salei had 6 more points than Kindl this past season playing about 30 games more. Kindl will put up 15+ points this coming season as a full time player. What's with the Kesler hate? Are people really upset at him for trash talking? Yah he dives, but no where near as bad as Thornton or the Sedins or most of the Sharks/Canucks for that matter.

Name a more efficient and productive fourth line than the Draper - Helm - Eaves line. That line continually gave Datsyuk time to rest by keeping the puck in the opponents zone. It was also our fastest line and most defensive line. If you didn't notice our fourth line and there effectiveness, maybe you should go watch the NBA and get use to only 5 players per team. an NHL team is over 20 players who need to work cohesively, don't get mad if you can't see that.

Next season he'll be in the SEL, the season after that if he bulks up just a bit more and improves his skating slightly, he should be in GRap with Pulu and Jarnkrok.
-
Let's not forget that Matt Cooke has worn the "A" a few times in his career and he's the biggest jackwaggon of them all,on and off the ice. Also, on a side note, I heard that Doc likes to sleep with slabs of bacon...just what I heard, though.

We have a few very very smart puck moving DMen, but I agree, we need a DMan with size.
-
You're right. It's all Draper's fault . What's wrong if he signs for 1mil and is used every third game?
-
He's valuable in the playoffs. use him as a 12/th/13th forward.

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski

Not terrible contracts, but Eric Staal at 8.25 is a nasty contract for a 70 point player, Heatley at 7.5, Vanek at 7.1 is not smart, Gomez, Brier, Horcoff, Finger are just a few of the over paying that cripple an organization. -
He's not that far off. He's already there offensively and he plays an average defensive game. I think a few months down on the farm and he'd be ready full time.
-
Hudler can easily put up 60-70 points, he just won't with the Wings. He can't skate and he doesn't like to play defense. If he played like he did in the final two games of the San jose series, we wouldn't be having this talk, but truth is, he won't and can't. On another team, though, he'd flourish with top line and top PP minutes.
-
Bar down.
-
It's a lot easier to find a guy who will play 8 minutes a night than it is to find a guy who will play 17+ minutes a night

The job of an NHL GM isn't to GM for the hockey season, it's to manage for the current and future NHL seasons. So him having an "easy" time, shows that he has been extremely competent. If Rafalski didn't retire, he'd have another easy summer where we'd only have to replace a couple bottom six guys and a couple third pairing defensemen along with finding a back up goalie.

Are we talking off the ice? Because on the ice Gordie was one of the nastiest SOBs in the league. Off the ice people like Iginla, Marleau, Miller/Abdelkader (they work tirelessly with their Sparty philanthropy), Boogaard and the list goes on. On ice I think of people like St. Louis, Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Brad Richards and players of that ilk.
