The Wings Are Locks to Beat the Hawks!
Red4wings4life replied to Canadian_Yzerman_Fan's topic in General
Your Blackhawks need to play a full 60 minute game againts the Wings. The flames and the Canucks game up big leads to Hawks game after game. The Wings will not do that. If you spot the Wings 3 goals, its game over. Just an FYI. I think it will be a great series but if the Hawks play like they did in the first 2 rounds, it will be a short series. -
After watching the blackhawks play in the playoffs this year. I only have one thing to say. If they expect to be able to come back againts the wings like they have done in the first 2 rounds, they are mistaking. They cannot... CANNOT spot the Wings a 3 goal lead and win. Not 4 times in a 7 game series. The Blackhawks need to play a full 60 minutes to have a chance to beat the Wings and so far I have not seen them play a Full 60 minute game in the first 2 rounds.

If we would have lost yesterday, I would still say the samething because I am a true hockey fan, I understand the game of hockey, I played the game of Hockey. Points are not the most important factor when watching to see if a player is playing well. Zetterberg blocked shots, won the little battles, created scoring chances. He had a great series.

Man some of you so called "hockey" fans need to learn that point production does not equal a good player. Zetterberg played a GREAT GAME yesterday. Killed both 5 on 3s and the 4 on 3. Blocked shots, won the battles for the puck. Made good passes, setup the gaming goal by winning a battle in the corner. I could not ask for anything more. I am sick of hearing all this s*** about not producing. Please learn hockey before making stupid comments like the one above. Hockey is more then scoring points. Dats had a good series to, sure he did not score be he forced the ducks to watch him closely which made room for others to step up. Dats had enough scoring chances to make me happy, he is not able to put the puck in the net. That will come as long as he keeps playing like he is playing.

I put on my Stevie Jersey. Buy a case of Labats beer. Turn the lights off and turn on the game. I play NHL XX on my PS3 before the game starts, Normally I set it up Wings vs Who ever we are playing and try to setup the lines correctly and play a "real" game before the Wings games starts. Also I have to finish the 12 labats before the end of the game.

Was it a cheap shot? Yea Is that expected from the ducks? Yes Will anyone get punished? Nope Will the NHL do anything about it? Nope Does it happen every year in the playoffs? Yes What are you going to do?
-
You sir are correct May 31, 2002 Colorado Avalanche Home 7-0 W Yes it was one of the best games in Red Wing history, the other one is getting Roy to quit the habs.
-
8? I believe it was 6
-
Last game 7 was vs the Avs and it was a 6 -0 win if I am not mistaking. 2002? Anyway, that was a bad game tonight, Wings looked sloppy. They need to hit the "switch" we all know they have. (right or wrong, they have an effort switch, we have seen it all year.) GO Wings as always. Lets show the Ducks why they call us Hockeytown.

That is no true at all. Pronger is a good defense man but he is not a "Red Wings" type player and would not fit in on this team. Sure IF i were to create my own team, I would want him on it but I DO NOT WANT HIM ON THE WINGS. The Red Wings have a certain type of "player" and Pronger does not fit into that mold. Again Pronger is a good defense man and a good player overall, a cheap player but a good player. Same with Patrick Roy, Good goalie but not a Red Wing "type" player. I respect Roy more then Pronger though. That says alot from a life long Wings fan.

Simple Answer = Everything. I love everything about the wings. The owner ship The leadership The players The ownership - They are willing to do whatever it takes to win, they will spend the money, they hire great scouts, they know hockey, they get the "right" hockey guys in the front office. They do not fear losing, they fear not trying. The Leadership - Either the players or the coach, they always have great leadership, and sportsmanship. They play the game of hockey the right way, they do the little things and always put in a good effort. The players - Talented hockey players. Loyalty, wiliness to do anything to win. Selfless. Team before themselves. Its always about the name on the front and not about the one on the back. And I was born and raised in Detroit, just left Michigan at the age of 26. Its my hometown, it my Hockeytown. P.S. Can forget to mention "The Captain" Stevie Y. He is my hero, so selfless, loyal, talented, plays hockey the right way. Never backs down, always classy and not to mention his amazing leadership. All in all the "typical" Red Wing player. What other team can boast about a star studded line up that has no ego issues in the locker room?

The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal
Red4wings4life replied to JeffBridges's topic in General
Points are not the only measuring stick. Just because Pavel sets up more goals then Zetterberg does not mean he is a better passer. Watch Zetterberg coming though the netural zone, watch Zetterberg in his own zone. Watch him pass the puck. He has better vision then Datsyuk and can make tougher passes. Again Pavel is a good playmaker but Zetterberg is a little bit better. Datsyuk has a better shot and more creativity with the puck but Zetterberg is better at passing, its not a knock on Pavel. Just like Kronwall is a good defensemen but Lidstrom is better. -

Zetterberg has a point in every playoff game this year except one. Again, overall I would pick Zetterberg for my team if I were to pick a team. Sure Datsyuk is a great player and it is a tough choice but the leadership that Zetterberg can bring to the table is the difference. -

You do not have to say alot to be a good captain, Did I say that Pavel isn't a good leader because he is quite? No I did not. You can watch the leadership of Zetterberg every game. Watch how he plays, watch what he does. He is more of a leader then Datsyuk. Also Yes Zetterberg is a better passer, Datsyuk is a good passer but Zetterberg is a better passer. Datsyuk has a better shot and puck control skills. Both are great players and I love watching both of them, so really who is better does not matter to me. If I was forced to pick one or the other for a team I am starting, then I pick Zetterberg. -
The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal
Red4wings4life replied to JeffBridges's topic in General
I do not think they are different converstaions. Datsyuk is a great player with great skills both defensively and offensively but Zetterberg has that "leadership" skill that Datsyuk does not have. I think that Zetterberg is better defensively then Datsyuk. Shooting = Datsyuk Passing = Zetterberg Control of the puck = Datsyuk Creativity with the puck = Datsyuk Defensively = Zetterberg Power play = equal PK = equal Leadership= Zetterberg Points each year = Datsyuk -

Who won the MVP of the playoffs last year? Google that and come back. -
I am sorry but I found this gem on the Ducks forum and I had to share it with you all. " Thom_74 Rating: 0 View Member Profile post Today, 09:10 AM Post #17 Prospect Group: Members Posts: 173 Joined: 3-July 06 From: Fullerton, CA Member No.: 9,797 Well, at the 8 minute mark or so, it was time for everyone to get desperate. I saw a few desperate individuals, but the team as a whole must've thought they had some time to spare. Ebbett was recovering pucks more often than the defenseman, Ryan and Getzlaf ended up recovering a couple too. I was hoping the extra day of rest would help. But they still look a little tired. They did, however, do an excellent job of staying out of the penalty box. The refs still aren't putting the Diving Wings in the box when they engage in their team patented practice. How many times were Wings flopping on the ice, when a Duck merely skated close to them? The Diving Wings are pathetic. It comes down to game 6, not because 6 is an elimination game, but because a Ducks victory in game 6 would put the Red Wings back on their heels. A game 6 victory would mean that the Ducks were refreshed, and if not refreshed, absolutely desperate to get to the Western Conference Finals, and the Ducks at their top game are better than the Diving Wings at their top game. If the Ducks bring anything less than their best effort though, the Diving Wings will come out on top. So one game, sixty minutes, and all other cliches, if the Ducks can bring their best for all of it, the odds are in their favor to advance to the Conference Finals. If they don't bring their best, it'll only be a testament to their taking too much for granted. Yeah, the Ducks are more talented than the Diving Wings, but they've got to work just as hard as the Diving Wings for that superior talent to show itself. " So the Ducks have more talent then Detroit? Really? Do they watch the same games we do?

Red4wings4life replied to JeffBridges's topic in General
Datsyuk is better then Zetterberg? Sure you could say that but Zetterberg is our next captain. He has the leadership ability that Datsyuk does not have. Datsyuk is better offensivly and Zetterberg is an all around player. Sure Datsyuk plays good defensive but Zet is better. Next Captain of the Red Wings is Zetterberg -
Don't Freak out until we lose 4 games. Its not the best of 3 or the best of 5. Its the best of 7. I have faith in this team, sure the Ducks beat us before and we have beat them before. If the Wings fail to show up and play the way we all know they can play, then they will be golfing early this year. Nothing us fans can control, no need to freak out, just enjoy the ride, that is what its all about. Sure it will suck if they lose but hey that is Hockey, if you don't show up to play, you lose, no matter how much talent you put on the ice.
-
Yes I want him back, he is a great passer and a threat on the power play. We need him.
-
Again the coach cannot play the game for the players. The players are responsible for not producing, not the coach. The lines have been for the most part the same all year, why change it up now. The players are not playing with the emotion they need to, the Ducks are out working the Wings, winning the battles along the boards. All the little things. The little things are what win hockey games. How about the star players on the roster start playing like star player? Why are they losing so many battles along the boards? Why are we rushing shots on the power play? Why are we not creating more traffic The PLAYERS need to start PLAYING Red Wing hockey again. We have not seen Red Wing hockey since round 1. How can you question a coach that got us a cup last year? Have faith in your team and your coach, change lines is not always the right thing to do, it works sometimes sure.

As Homer spins the rest of the way around his arms come closer to his body, he looks off balance in that shot. Granted he did "elbow" him per the rules but the rules are not very clear and have a ton of "grey" areas. I do not think that it should have been called, I would not wanted it called on the ducks either, that is just 2 players fighting for position and a 3rd player getting in the way.
-
I expected the ducks to give them a good run of there money. I honestly think it will go all 7 games. The goaltender is alot better then you are giving him credit for. He is solid. Your right the wings have been out played, guess what that is on the players not the coach, the coach can only do so much, its up to the guys on the ice. These are professional hockey players, they know what they have to do, the coach only sets up the lines and a gameplay, the players have to play. Right now the Wings look to be trying to play the Ducks game and that will not work. We have not looked that great in the 2nd round, even game one was sloppy. Have to give the Ducks credit, they are making it hard for the Wings to have a good clean break out.
-
He did not throw an elbow, he simply turned away from the defender. Watch the reply. He turned and hit the guy in the head with his elbow, there is a huge difference in throwing and elbow and hitting someone with your elbow. It should not have been called, it is apart of hockey, big guys in tight spaces, people will get hit, its the nature of the game.
-
It better be a broken wrist or he should be playing. This is playoff hockey, you play hurt period. Mr. Captian would be playing though it, that I can promise you. Oh how I miss you stevie
