Relax guys. He signed a 3 year deal and all that means is he finishs his Career in detroit. All of you bitching about him being resigned, Would you honestly want to play againts Maltby? Seriously he is one of the best PKer and by far one of the best at digging the puck out of the corner. He is a great Offensive Defenseman and he can create scoring chances. Don Cherry is a Living Hockey God. Do agree with him 100% of the time? No but that is why he is so great. Love him or Hate him, he knows hockey like nobody else. Watching Coach's Corner is alot of fun. Yes come playoff time he picks his favorites but dont we all. Don Cherry hates the Refs and the way they can ruin a game. Just like Game 4 yesterday... Those Refs were horriable. They need to be fired, or fined or shot or all of the above.

Okay first off What a Game!!!!! What a Game!!!!!! WoW what a Game!!!!!! So Who thinks Lang sucks now? I know I know How about Hasek stepping up in that 2nd and 3rd period, Did he ever make some huge saves. Snow Angel for the Win. Come on everyone, You know Hasek was the key to that game. Dont deny it. Bert looks like he has not found his role on this team or he has no confedence or he is still hurt, he made a some bad plays and some plays that I know he can make, I have seen him do it againts the Red Wings. Detroit looked like the team with more jump and energy in the 3rd and 4th periods. I think after that loss and how Ron Wilson called out some players on his team that the San Jose Sharks will come out flying on Saturday, Detroit will have to weather the storm in the first period and Hasek will need to play exactly like he has played. I would tell Dom not to change anything. The Wings still need to watch the Turn overs, they didnt cost us alot in Game 4 but we cant give the Sharks more chances then they can generate on their own. Before the Series started everyone including here on these boards (including me) though the Sharks would be able to run 4 lines againts Detroit, but that has not happen, the Sharks are becoming more and more a one line offensive team. I think that is due to Detroits ability to shut down the other lines. Yes Joe is amazing and he is by far the Sharks best player followed by Cheechoo but that doesnt shock anyone. (if it does get your head checked). I believe that Line for Line and player for player Detroit is more Skilled up front, with players like Flip and Cleary playing out of ther minds. Last I would like to say that because of the issue last night with someone taking my handle in the Chat channel last night and giving me a bad name and causing alot of problems, I dont know what to do about it or if I can do anything about it. I am pissed off that something like this could happen and that I get a bad Rep because of the losers that call themselfs Wing Fans. I use both Tdog and redwings4life as my handle in Chat. I dont make stupied comments, I comment on what is going on during the game. I did talk about Lang my first time in chat and that set some people off which was all in good banter. Please dont let these few people ruin the fun we have in the Chat room.

I agree with you, I think Hasek had done exactly what the Wings asked him to when they signed him, that is Give the Wings a chance to win every playoff game. The last line about the opposite conclustions. That is simply the fact some people go into the game with certain expectations and if they are not met they come here and post topics. Were as some of the Fans watch the game and let the game unfold instead of having expectations. I am one of those fans that Watch each and every game (that I can) because I want to see a good Hockey game, Win or Lose. (hopefully a Win)

Yea, You cannot CANNOT leave someone as skilled as Cheechoo in front of your net without a body close enough to him to control him if the puck comes to him. Yes I know we were down a man but he was parked directly in front of our net, we need someone close enough to him to get a body on him when he gets the puck or to clear the front of the net after Dom makes the save.

Your wrong, it is always the best idea to clear the bodies out of the front of your net, You dont have cross check to do this. Weather he had the puck or not you still clear the bodies out. PERIOD. The Wings defense let down on this play. You will not get called for knocking people over in front of the net in the NHL during a scrum as long as you dont cross check. The Red Wings Defense made the mistake of not taking the body. You need to understand that it was not a bad play on Haseks part but a bad play on the D. There is no excuse for allowing a player as skilled as Cheechoo to have that much time in front of the Net, NONE, as soon as he touched the puck their should have been a body on him, he should have been watching the rest of the play unfold from his rear end. Watch how other teams handle our Forwards in front of their net, they dump bodies, we always have at least one Wing on the Ground during Scrums.

Crazy, Hasek has played great hockey all playoffs, He has not faced alot of shots but he has faced alot of good scoring chances. Hasek is One of the Top Goalies in the League BECAUSE of his crazy style (dont know if you can call it a style). Hasek has keep the Wings in every game this playoff season, EVERY GAME. He is giving the Wings the chance to WIN every hockey game, It is the guys in front of Hasek that are not producing. Hasek is doing everything that is asked of him. If you think Hasek is the reason Detroit has lost any game in the post season then you sir/mama are out of your ever loving mind and need to find a new sport to watch cause you dont understand hockey. I dare to say that his is the most important game of the Year. It is for sure a must win and I truely hope that the Red Wings feel their backs are againts the wall. No Prediction, Go Wings Okay fine 1 goal, 2 assist for Sammy.

Well we can agree to disagree. Last season was a perfect example of how Sammy shooting is a good thing. I still believe he has a lot of good years left in him, I truely believe that his injury this seaons is causing his off season. Last Season Total shots on net 187 Shot vs Goal % - 12.3 This seaons Total shots on net 189 Shot vs Goal % - 7.4 The injury has alot to do with that. If we can get the rest of the team shooting the puck as much as Sammy we would be in great shape, There has been may times in this Series the Wings cut to the middle of the ice only to pass the puck away, You need to shoot, Yes sometimes you need to make that extra pass but I think that he is under orders from the coaching staff to shoot because he was not shooting alot after he came back from his injury. If Sammy keeps getting his shots on net, you will see it create more goals. Look for Sammy, Lang and Calder to get some offense going before the End of the Series. Have you played Ice hockey? not house leagues but really competive Ice hockey? (No this doesnt mean much other then you may not understand how shooting creates confidence for both the goalie and the shooter) First Sammy is not the only Red Wing quilty of hitting the goalie in the chest. It has been an issue for the Wings for a long long time, way before Sammy ever showed up. The Red Wings always make the other teams goalie look better then he really is. Second, I have no idea what you are talking about with the whole sammy, franzen Nick thing.

To answer this question. I go back to the good old saying. If you dont shoot the puck, you dont score goals. Its very simple. You have to shoot to score. We can all agree on that right? So what happens if Detroit (who is know to do this) starts passing the puck around looking for that perfect shoot? they end up cycling and cycling and finally lose the puck. We all have seen this Detroit Red Wing team do stuff like that. How many times have you sat their watcing the Wings and yelling at your TV, SHOOT Dam you SHOOT, WTF are you doing SHOOT it already. Well Sammy shoots every chance he gets. He has a great shot. Is their times he should have passed instead of shot, of course but We get the benefit of watching the outcome of the play then complaining about it. You need to watch the game as if you were playing the game. Dont judge the play on what could or should have happen, judge the play on what happen.

Yea and his defense cover for him very well. We only have what one rebound goal in 3 games and he gives up alot of rebounds.

No there is no difference in taking shots and taking good shots..... A shot on goal is a shot on goal is a shot on goal. Taking a shot on goal is NEVER a bad move. Again, Taking a SHOT ON GOAL IS NEVER A BAD MOVE. Do I need to say it one more time or do you get it yet? Kopecky will get a shot when he is healthy and ready to go, more then likly next year. He is a solid player too and he will produce goals, how many is still to be decided. Right now you need to go with your best players and that is what Babcock is doing. "motorcitykid" - I am not lieing to make my point, the reason Sammy is on the point is because he had a hard shot and it causes goalies to give up rebounds... case and point is game 2, Sammy gets a good pass off the boards, not in a great shooting positon, gets the shot on net and created the rebound for Dats to score. He was below the hash marks on the left side of the circle, that is not a good place to shoot, the goalie can come out and cut off the angle and leave you nothing to shot at. But Sammy put it on net, and because of his hard shot it created a rebound. Last Year Sammy was scoring left and right. Sammy gets hurt this year and he lost a few steps because of the injury, he will get the step back.

This is very very simple, lets see if you can follow this. Shoots = chances = confidence = Goals Sammy shooting the puck creates chances off rebounds and pressure in the offensive zone, which creates confidence for the players to keep up what they are doing, which creates Goals. Ever wonder why once one line gets good offensive pressure usally the next couple of lines get some good chances? It is because they gain confidence. Todd and Dats and Zet need to take a page out of Sammy's book and start shooting more. Your right 50 shots a game mean little on the stat sheet but 50 shots on goal means that Detroit is in the offensive zone creating chances. Once again the old saying - 100% of the shots you dont take dont score. When in dout shot the puck on net. You are told that time and time again growing up playing hockey. Shot the puck every chance you get.. Dont try to make the perfect cross ice pass, dont try to make that extra move, Shoot the puck. Kopecky is not a proven player yet, he is still young, he will get his chance to play but right now you have to go with a proven goal scorer Sorry and - Gordie Howe by a long shot... Reason Gordie knows how to play a rounded hockey game, Scoring, hitting, passing and defensive. Gordie is an all around player were as Wayne is only a goal scorer.

He brings a good size, good speed, good checking, good shooting, good hands winger to detroit who in the past has been a smaller non physical team. He creates room with his size, he creates scoring chances with his quick release and he gets alot of shots on net. (yes some are not great shots, but shots on net are important). Sammy shoots the puck, he does this alot, which I wish would rub off on some of our other "Star" players. What you fail to realize is that he is just coming off of his first major injury, that will play on your mind for sometime, you will do things to avoid getting hurt again, untill he gains his full confedence back, he will not play his best. That is the only fault you can point to with Sammy. He is great in the Defensive zone and a very smart hockey player. Are there other guys that can do what he can do? Sure but why would you give up a stead defensive minded player that can put the puck in the net or create chances for others. He is getting power play time because he has a huge shot that goalies have a hard time contanting the rebounds. You can pick and pick but you can do that to anyone in the league. It still doesnt change the fact that he is a good player.

Umm Correct me if I am wrong but Osgood is signed for atleast another year and Dom is a free agent at the end of the season and I am sure if Dom is going to play another Year he will be a Red Wing.

He has great hands with the puck. Sammy setup the game winner in Game 2 but that doesnt count right? He played well last night but that doesnt count right? Did you know that Assists are just as important then Goals? I bet that is news to you but hey, if your not learning something new everyday, then whats the point.
