Yes, I was being sarcastic, so no beating will be necessary. Yesterday I found a thread from a while ago in the rumor mill about a Gomez/Datsyuk trade. I believe it was from December, and for some reason quite a few people seemed to think this was a good idea. That would be on par with the Bruins trading Thornton for a bag of pucks.

Fair enough, I personally do not think Giguere's pads are illegal. The problem the Wings had in '03 was that every shot was right into the ducks logo on his jersey. It doesn't matter how big he is, or what kind/size pads he's wearing, no one is going to score taking those kinds of shots.

San Jose didn't have to worry about him because they had Bill Guerin, a veritable fountain of hockey knowledge. There was nothing the Red Wings, particularly Nick Lidstrom, could do that he wouldn't have already anticipated, he had played them so many times. Unfortunately he hadn't played with his San Jose teammates long enough to anticipate "that shot is going to be deflected..."

As soon as I started reading this thread I thought of Garth Snow and his "shoulder extension things" that were practically on the sides of his head. Also, I hope Giguere suffers from his "condition where he sucks" in the WCF.

Sometimes an announcer will just say "Chris Chelios" and it makes me wonder, "yeah he has the puck, but how old is he?" So it's nice to have a reminder.
