ECQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning, 7:30 EST

Anything could happen, anything could happen, anything could happen

    Franzen on IR

Franzen sucked for a long time, but right before he got injured, he was actually pretty valuable. 'Tis a shame.

ECQF : (7) Sénateurs d'Ottawa vs. (2) Les Canadiens de Montréal

This is a bad game for Ottawa. They are supposed to win with Hammond. Hammond looks like he's done. Montreal is out-classing Ottawa on the forwards/defense.

ECQF : (7) Sénateurs d'Ottawa vs. (2) Les Canadiens de Montréal

Yeah, he looked like a dumb kid. Which... perhaps he is!

ECQF : (7) Sénateurs d'Ottawa vs. (2) Les Canadiens de Montréal

Good call throwing out PK. That was a totally unprovoked and unnecessary assault. These TSN announcers are major homers. Disgusting.

Opinion: Petr Mrazek should be starting Game 1

I also think it will be Howard. Knowing Babs.

    Ouellet

He was fairly good in last year's playoffs. I wouldn't be concerned if they brought him up. Would be a good opportunity. Probably won't be our worst defenseman

    Nonis Gone

Bab wants to win and loathes drama. He won't go to Toronto.

WCQF : (4) Nashville Predators vs. (5) Chicago Ham Hocks

Can Nashville score enough goals against the Hawks? NHL.com says the Hawks might have problems in the backend but they are #1 in Goals Against. I would say the Hawks have superior offensive depth, even without Kane. Nashville has looked built for a cup run for a few years now (good goaltending and defense), but they always fall flat. I guess I would expect that they'd lose this series too. 6 games for Chicago.

ECQF : (7) Sénateurs d'Ottawa vs. (2) Les Canadiens de Montréal

I think Ottawa is the perfect team to bury the Canadians. I predict that Montreal's dependency on Price will become evident, and that the pressure will mount and the team will collapse.

WCQF : (6) Minnesota Wild vs. (2) St. Louis Blues

I also think that the Blues are just not playoff performers, so I pick the Wild in 6.

WCQF : (7) Winnipeg Jets vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

    They won't!

    2015 NHL.com Bracket Challenge

Cool, I'm in. Looks like we can't see each others brackets. Interesting.

Anyone know the Red Wings all-time record at JLA?

    Don't know

    Team next season?

Sheahan is exactly what Babcock likes and Weiss is exactly what Babcock hates. That's comparing a defensively sound, responsible-with-the-puck, win the board battles defenseman with a turnover machine who is slow and can't backcheck. Weiss would probably have to put up 175% the numbers of Sheahan to even be comparable.

43-25-14......3rd seed in Division. Success or Failure?

I think we overachieved. People expect the young kids to continuously improve and play at a top level, but I don't think that was probabilistically the most likely outcome. If Nyquist and Tatar hit sophomore slumps, and the young defense and PK regressed, this team could've had a terrible regular season record. All the questionable pieces came together, for the most part, probably because of the excellent coaching staff. Babcock said that he thought the Wings had "no chance" before the season started, which is very telling. The young guys stepped up and achieved, and it turned a losing team into a winning team. Would've been tough to predict that last summer.

    Brendan Smith

His response was so cringe-worthy. Agh.

    4/9/15 GDT Red Wings 3 @ Canadiens 4 *Warning post #888 & 906*

Start Mrazek vs Carolina? Howard was terrible.

% chance of making the playoffs

Damn, that's a crazy high %, considering this team is quite capable of losing both games. I guess it's the fact that they can lose both games and still squeeze in. It's not even that bad that Pittsburgh beat Ottawa. The Penguins are like... finished.

3 point advantage games need to be eliminated

I don't get it? 3 points... how are they divvied from W, L, OTL?

    Well, Glendening was fantastic

Tatar and Nyquist and Sheahan LINE

When Tatar doesn't score he's worthless. He's a great second-liner for scoring depth.

Erik cole - what the hell's going on with him ?

Cleary has balls and this team needs testicles right now.

    Redwings recall Ferraro

Ferraro was called up last year in a similar situation: deep in the season with the Wings desperately looking for points. He played pretty terribly. I don't recall anybody thinking he played well. Maybe he's a year wiser, but based on the history I wouldn't expect him to do anything for this team. I hope he does, though... he plays with his heart on his sleeve. Small guy, though, and probably not used to playing in the NHL near playoff time where the game truly excels above and beyond. Losing Abby sucks. Sometimes he strikes me as the only guy on this team gritty enough to be part of a Stanley Cup team. He's been excellent all year, especially in physical games where the Wings get shut down. Losing him is a big loss. Oh well, hope we can school Carolina twice and luck out against Montreal. It's possible!

Tatar and Nyquist and Sheahan LINE

I was not being sarcastic when I said I love your lines. Sorry, sometimes I am unusually passionate about things. I truly think your line combo is exactly what this team needs. Then I edited my post and talked about Ferraro. Now THAT was sarcasm.
