Id go with Leino, a team with 4 lines of people who can light the lamp on a nightly basis makes the other teams D play harder and more likely to make dump mistakes later on in the game. There is very little need to keep Downey on a night in night out basis, do you really think the blues or cbj are going to be taking that many cheap shots? I could see it when we play SJ or Anaheim to keep their clowns in line. Anyway, on a regular basis Leino gives us more than anyone else without hurting the team/player (like helm who needs to be playing top line minutes in GR) too much.

Agreed, Homer has been and is a reputation player, in the 90s it was for diving, now its for interference on the goalie. Refs just hate that his accent is better then theirs....

Meech isn't that great either...Quincey gives us something we need, a tough stay at home Dman, whereas Meech is just another run and gun style dman, they are great, but, we have 10 others who are or will be better, Id say hed make better trade bait for a 1 or 2 draft pick, and if we get rid of Sammy and Lilja then we can all wake up and blame the real problems on this team, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Osgood, and Ken Holland...lazy bastards!

in this case though we have Helm, Lenio, Kopecky, who could easily be on the fourth line, but up good minutes, and would lose a spot to downey or mac. I am not talking about night in night out games, but probably 1 in 3 games where you can just go into cruise control for the last 10 mins where you dont want to have to depend on your top 2 lines to hold a lead, but need defensively minded players to hold it together for you, and Downey and Mac take up spots those kind of players would have...

Ok, here the problem with caring a 3 to 5 min a night enforcer...It means that players like Zetts and Dats need to eat more mins a game, there is more need for a 3/4 liners to be able to go out for 10 to 15 mins a game and eat mins so we can keep our best players rested for situations where we need them (im talking about having players who can go out for a lot of shifts when we are up 4-1 in the 3rd with 5 mins to go and who can be defensively responsible and be able to pressure when the opportunity presents itself) and Downey and Mac aren't those kind of players, and putting players like Zetts and Dats out in those situations increases the chances of injury or someone taking a run on them, not decreases them.

Id prefer giving Lenio a chance then caring Mccarty or Downey for the what ifs of most nights and them not seeing more then 6 mins a night.

I hate to continue defending sammy, but, ill remend all my earlier posts about him with this addition "I would like to trade Sammy to free up cap space and allow younger players more consistant NHL Ice time, but, I also understand that Sammy at this point gives us a lot of bang for the buck for a 3rd line winger and a decent fill in if a second liner gets hurt or put on the first line due to injury(note I said decent not great)...."

I bad mouth sammy every chance i get, buttttt, for every once of suck he is in the offensive zone, he makes up for it for not doing anything stupid in our zone. I dont like seeing him on the 2nd line, and wouldnt lose sleep if he were traded, but i think he should get credit that hes still better than about 75% of other forwards out there in his own end.
