You say that the wings shouldnt put one of our best players with unproven people, but yet you want to put Sammy 'I am for the chest of goalies and only pass to the oppsition' with Z? Kinda the kettle calling the stove black on that one, because you are putting a player who is only a second liner because babcock has a hardon for him into a situation that makes everyone around him worse for it. And before you tell me about game 1 of the SCF please remember that even blind pigs can find sh*t every so often and to use that as justifcation for his being on the second line would only allow people to want to put corey cross on defense because he scored on his first shift.

i still think Zetterberg-Dats-Hossa would be the best first line, Homer is on the downslope now, and putting Z on the second line when hes our top forward for ice time is retarded. Besides, it really is time to start giving others time to put up or shut up so the second line would be Franzen-Flip-Cleary with that line being fluid for anyone who can show their worth to be able to replace anyone who isnt justifying their postion.

I could see the wings going 60-15-7 and having over 125 pts but no way they get over 130 pts and 65 wins, youll see that after we have home ice locked up there will be a lot of resting of key players, probably Conklin will be playing a lot down the streach, and we wont win at an over 80% clip durning that period. But as we saw in 96 you its hard to win 60+ games and have a rested team for the playoffs.

I see the top 2 lines looking like this Zetterberg Franzen Hossa Datsyuk Flip Homer Why? because that gives you the best bang for the buck, esspically if Flip is break out next year like i think he might be. This will also help Franzen with 2 natural play makers with him to set up his raw ability to crash and score, whereas Homer is more veteran and can keep people off of Flip and Dats.

This is why I like drake, hes a good physical forward, but, he brings more than just the physical edge.

Its not that i hate ozzy or want him gone, its just the wings are changing the situation Ozzy is in, hes a great Goalie, but, I dont see him play 50 or 60 games plus another 20 or so in the playoffs, and staying as sharp as he was this year, I honestly think him playing 40 games is why he was so fresh through the whole playoffs.

as ive said, give him 25-30 games, and if he cant cut it, cut him lose, go after Miller failing that give Larrson or Mccollen a shot.

Well i say give him this year, if he cant step up as a back up, move him sign Ryan Miller, and use Ozzy as a back up till one of our other 2 goalies are ready.

goalies can rot on the vine...so we need to give him a chance asap.

Hate to bump this thread, but 5 days and no action or statements from Hossa or his agent, anyone else suspecting that hes gunna bolt?

The thing is we dont need a great goalie with the defense we have, we need one who can make the run of the mill saves because i dont see the wings in the next 5 years giving up more than 20 or so shots per game. That is why i am so pissed about this pick, we could really use more forwards in the minors who have potential when Holmstrom, Samuelsson, Draper, etc are done (because lets not kid ourselves the hold over wings from 97 on arent getting any younger (and Sammy isnt one of them i know, but you know what i mean) and we need people to come up and fill their roles. We have a very deep defense in GR and Howard and the swedish kid plus ozzie means that we shouldnt have to worry about goaltending for awhile, as i said, this is a major vote of non confidence to Howard.

No idea, the wings have 3 goalies, now four, we could have used the forward. This is not the vote of confidence that I wanted to see for howard.

I wouldnt say we have trouble in the next 3 years but, next 3-8 I would say if Howard doesnt come through, than we can be in trouble.

Talking about miller coming to Detroit if he doesnt resign with buffalo (which i love).

So what pick are we on now? I hope we take a forward, we have a lot of good D prospects but are alittle dry in the top 6 forwards.
