Heres the problem with your logic: If there prospects are as good as you say they are, when free agency come they will leave, as has been pointed out in other posts, great defensemen are at a premium, and with Malkin going to be atleast an 8.5 cap hit, and MAF looking for big bucks, they wont be able to afford 6 good defensement.

Pronger isn't even top ten in my book, hes too dangerous, you have to be able to count on your top 2 dmen to be able to go out and be there night in and night out, in the last 2 seasons hes becoming more reckless and getting suspended more. As for Hossa, I still dont see him as a lock in Pittsburgh, I have been hearing from my friend in Montreal that their media is saying the Habs are telling Hossa's agent under the table that he will get a lot of cash and play time, and that hes interested to see what they have to offer him.

I am also tired of us trying to get the next Hasek (the veteran goalie looking for a cup), we have 2 solid young goalies in our system and if we keep this up we will never develop them into anything but AHL level goalies. And to me thats a waste.

I think he will stay, hes been bounced around so much, I cant see him turning down a contract for 3-5 years with a cap hit of 2.8 or so a year. He knows if he agrees he will more than likely be here for his whole contract (I could really see a NTC put in, if it is less than 3 a year). Well again, you are talking about a few square miles in downtown Detroit...I think its impossible to get 1.4 million people into such a small area, logistically, assuming that 1 in 3 or so had a car....that would mean 500,000 cars....even if it was 1 in 5 thats still a lot of parking...I think based on what i saw on tv the correct estimate would be around 400,000 or so. Just to give you an idea of how many people that is, if anyones ever been to a michigan game, thats 100,000 people, if you saw the parade on tv could you really say that there was 14x that many people in that small area? As for the Windsor argument, Windsor isnt a huge city, maybe 200k youre still talking about a huge migration of people into the city. As for people flying in, on an average day Metro handles 100,000 people (which includes layovers) so, still not plausible.

Not sure i buy it... Michigan has 9.5 or 10 million people, roughly 900k in detroit, and 3.5 in the detroit area, inorder for this many people to of shown up youd need about 1 in 8 people in michigan to of shown up...

First, We extend Zetterberg for the next 100000 years next, don't resign Hasek, its time to let Howard dress every game. Third (and this may make me hated), Let go of Lebda, and Sammy, its time to bring up some youth, Kindl, Ericson, Quincey wont be young forever, its time for them to step up and get some experience in the NHL, and Hudler really should be on the 2nd line not the forth, he plays about half the time as sammy but puts up the same numbers, time to see what he can do with some real ice time. Fourth, Resign Stuart, Kronwall and him work so well together and make our D the best in the league, hes young, and has had a taste of the cup, I think he wants another one. As for Cheli and Drake, I say keep Drake, maybe sign him for a 2 year at 1 million a year. Cheli, well if he can go 1 year, cant hate depth and his work ethic hes good to have around for the kids that need to come up to learn from. As for big pick ups of UFA, if we can get someone for the 2nd/3rd lines for under 2 million a year I wouldn't complain, but this isnt the time to rock the boat too much, we have some great talent in the minors and a cup winning team, we shouldnt do what Anaheim did and try to change the core group, they never were the same as they were last year.
