About Crosby, hes from Canada, where its easier to get the NHL's attention whereas Z and Dats were in Europe where only a few teams have scouts and the ability to draw the players away from their countries leagues and teams. Crosby isn't the next 99 or 9 PERIOD. I don't care how good he is, Gretzky had 301 pts and was +56, Crosby 222 pts and is only +4, 99 had 106 goals Crosby has 76, AND the NHL didn't have all these stupid penalties that they have now. Understand? hes not special, hes great, but not special. I can argue all night long that, I mean hell, for his goal scoring ability hes on Yzerman's level, (compare both of them in the first 2 years) granted, but hes no great one.

Again there whole team save 2 players is 0 or minus, hes not a one man all star team people make him out to be. I dislike him as a persona, not a person. He is so hyped, and I feel that is hurting hockey more then its helping it. And I dont know why youd take the Crosby over the leading scorer in the NHL.

Hehe, I agree wonder why its a given the West will win the cup? because the only team that has the ability to match the west in grit is NJ and thats it. Besides, a one way forward is all well and good, but give me a a great 2 way forward like Zetterberg any day over people like Crosby (who is -4, whereas Zetterberg is leading in scoring and is +9)

because it would be great to have that prima donna get a taste of western Conference hockey where grit gets you alot further then name appeal?

As for some of the people on here...quit actin like Flames fans, Hockey fans need to stick together because our sport is the red-headed step child of the sporting word. Lets stand together as hockey fans and show ESPN, Fox, Etc that Hockey isnt gunna die because they wont show it, and it was a mistake to drop it from their programing. peace.

Id say dont resign him, heres why, you saw this in 99-01 that us aquiring big names made it harder for us to find the very talented youth and get them into the NHL, I say what we do is sign a UFA goalie, dump Ozzie (no matter how much I love how he plays) and groom Howard as the main back up so that he can either prove hes ready for the NHL or that we need to find someone else. Thats just my opinion on matters though.

Bert and Calder gunna be around? Will we trade Lang? If all 4 of those players leave, who will replace them? PS GO SENS!!!!!

I like the fact that the Red wings are called the yankees of the NHL, since our team has a budget of 200+ million and the owner is an insane man that will do anything to win one last championship before hes too old to wipe himself by buying the best players in the MLB even though they never pan out...Or if you actually look at it we fall well within the Salary cap, and the owner of the wings has taken 2 teams (the Wings and the Tigers) that when he first got ahold of them were losing teams to sucess threw good trades, aquiring underrated free agents and devolping people in the farm system. Yea, looks like we are the yankees.

Wheres the love for Kronwall? Hes a 2nd year guy and I will bet a case of beer that by year 5 he'll be top 3 on our team in all the D stats. I mean I can kind of understand, we are spoiled rotten with havin Nick Lidstrom, but, Kronwall is a good player and should get the respect that a top 4 D man on one of the Top D teams in the league is intitled to.

I think we actually out played them despite the fact that the Refs called every phantom call known to man. We showed them that our special teams are great. I mean that 5v3 was 2 weak calls and instead of going and playing like the world is against us, we played like what we are, the #1 team in the west and the team to beat. bottom line: GO WINGS!

I am a red wings fan, so please no undue flack, but isnt this what Colorado thought when Hasek was getting all those Playoff shutouts in 02. They even tried to get a powerplay by asking that Doms stick be meassured. My point is if we are going to accuse the ducks of cheating better have a better excuse then 'he looks fatter in this picture'.
