Based on last seasons production he would be behind Brunner. Hes not that good, and definitely not worth anything over 4 million dollars let alone over 5 million.

Clarkson scored 30 goals once. Cheechoo once scored 56 goals, one season doesn't prove anything. Clarkson was extremely overpaid for a guy who is a 2nd-3rd line tweener.

Clarkson will score 90 goals for the ML. Ryan will be soft as hell and disappear for big games. And Detroit will have a glut of young players on entry level and second contracts giving them a lot of room to make moves in the near future.

Clarkson is a third line player who has one season of 40+pts. Ryan didn't give Detroit any problems in the playoffs and is now on a weaker offensive team.

Hate to be a downer but the Wings still have Sammy.

Noesen is still boom bust type prospect with some holes in his game, but a lot of upside. Tatar is a lot more complete. That's why I chose Pulkkenin, he's just starting to learn to play a full game, has great offensive upside, but still not a complete player.

With Weiss, Alfie, Tatar and Nyquist all being on the team, add Franzen, Dats and Z and Bert if healthy you have 8 players aside from Abdelkader in the top 6. He's expendable.

I'd take Weiss for 4.9 over Flip for 5 flat. Though I think it could be argued its a lateral move when its all said and done, I think the change of scenery for both players will do them good.

We don't actually know what Datsyuk wants. Hes not the type that would go to the media and trash talk the coach or other teammates. Abdelkader was an anchor in the playoffs, and I don't see him staying in the top 6 with Weiss and Alfie added.
