If they want more than a C level prospect of a late round pick, I wouldn't touch it. He may be impact this season, but, the Wings need to (and seem to) only make moves that make sense in the long term.

How about no. Hes making 7.5 million a season, and is 19 pts in 33 games. He is not young, he is not durable, he is not the answer.

Holland: "We don't need depth...Need a top guy"

I seriously see Detroit standing pat this deadline. -

Per Eklund: (posting it for the lawlz) On Brian Campbell... He is another who may stay put, but I was told if Detroit can move some salary out in time they would be all over Brian Campbell -
damian brunner - how much is it gonna take to resign him?

Im thinking 3 years 9 million is fair for both sides. -

Career wise, Cammalleri is less productive, but this season he has more points in less games. -

No to Byfuglien, hes not a top D-man that the Wings need, and that would be a gross overpayment for him. -
with trade deadline approaching - who's our tradeable assets?
Shaman replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
The Wings have no realistic chance at the cup this season. The lack of scoring depth, the defense looking lost in some games, and Howard not being an elite goalie all add up to the Wings being bounced early if they even make the playoffs. -
I keep pointing this out: Gaborik doesn't magically term the Wings into a contender. What he does do is force the Wings to sell their future for a slight bump in their tiny chances of going anywhere this season. If Hollands stands pat this year it would only be a bad move, not the terrible one like everyone seems to have a hardon for.

Gaborik doesn't magically make the Wings a contender, it makes them a bubble team with less assets for the future. -
Franzen should be bought out. Why? To send a message that you can have all the talent in the world, but if you take entire games off, you have no place on the team.

Kyle Quincey type deals only come around once every 100 years or so. You don't stop to think about it, you give up your first and say 'Jack F***ing POT!' 100 out of 30 GMs agree, Kyle Quincey is Bobby Orr without all that scoring to get in his way, and Nick Lidstrom if he wasn't a puss.

He got broken before 2 periods were up.
-
Ray Shero, he knew Crosby was going to get it in the jaw so he got 2 captains before it even happened.

Quoted for truth, this would be the year to not only hang onto draft picks, but to try to stockpile a few. As I keep saying the CBA is built in a way that a team with a lot of youth is reward, and a team with a lot of vets is penalized.

Holland at his best. Per the Free Press today.
-
Except Holland knew that Hossa was injured and wasn't at his peak in the playoffs. They let go of the last person to score 40 goals for the Wings for a guy who takes whole weeks off from doing anything relevant.
-
Only calls he should be making are to start a fire sale.
-
Finally, only took him 4 and 2/3rds hours longer than he said

/Thread. I completely understand, I am currently trying to get work done, but keep going back to LGW and twitter for DD news.

Twitter is starting to explode on the Tigers and now for the Wings with Danny D, hopefully that's a good sign.

Did Richards? Did Suter? Did any huge name free agent that hit the open market? I haven't seen that many free agents who said 'Well ill play for a lot less, because who cares about money anymore!'. As for Lidstrom: Per USA Today Per the Free Press Per Mitch Albom: Shall I continue? I can. I have a lot more where these came from.

Because the idea that someone would go to play hockey where their family lives is massively unprecedented in the last couple years. Its not like 2 Wings free agents didn't return with family being at least part of the reason. And its really not like the KHL would pay him a lot more than he would make in the NHL for doing it either. /sarcasm Last offseason Stuart and Lidstrom both departed the Wings, naming family as at least part of the reason for their departures. Say what you will, but Lidstrom wasn't like Yzerman, playing until he could no longer play, he could have played more seasons, even if he may have started declining, at a high level. Pavel's daughter is in Russia right now, she is young, and as it has been pointed out, he lost his parents young. Most people in this situation would want to be near their child. Add to this the fact the KHL will pay him a salary the Wings (or any other team for that matter) could never match, and you have a lot of people taking the short, and logical leap that Datsyuk's days in Detroit maybe shorter than we want them to be. As for Iginla, too old, too expensive, and too disinterested in Detroit. Not gunna happen.
-
And then lose him in the offseason when he asks for 5 million dollars a season to be a inconsistent, injury prone, soft player. Flip has a lot in common with Staal, their offensive upside, and their defensive ability are pretty much equal, and Staal got 6 million. If you don't think Flip's and his agent aren't going to ask for the moon and the stars, you're kidding yourself. Trade him now in this sellers market, get a pick and a prospect as a cheap, as a offensively talented defensive forward.

Stocks in Detroit area hospitals set record highs in price when his signing was announced.
