This sounds thankfully like the Shero/Hossa talks back in 2008, hopefully just like then this is all hyperbole and trying not to poison the well.

For the record this is my first one this offseason, I decided I needed to get it out of my system. It will hit you to! Mark my words .

I'd rather not have Doan, hes not leaving Phx anyway. The team needs to commit its money to players under 30 and lock them up for the long term, the last 3 season there has been too much offseason drama, so, a few years of a consistent roster is a must. My dream roster: FORWARDS Zach Parise ($7.500m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Alexander Semin ($6.000m) Johan Franzen ($3.955m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) Jiri Hudler ($3.500m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) Darren Helm ($1.000m) / Danny Cleary ($2.800m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m) Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Jan Mursak ($0.550m) / DEFENSEMEN Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) Ian White ($2.875m) / Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Ryan Suter ($7.500m) GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) Josh Harding ($0.850m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,308,712; BONUSES: $37,500 CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $991,288

HFboards=/=LGW even if they go crazier than a bag of rats in a burning meth lab its still HFboards and they have a lot more bandwagoners.

Hes also a lot older, and will cost a lot more than Parise. Iginla is a non-option, hes too old, his cap hit is too high and the returns that the Flames will want back will be more than the Wings can afford. What you want is the opposite of what any good team would want, give up a lot of youth, and cap space for an older rental player. I thank god you're not the GM. As for Perry, Perry would be a decent pick up, but read what I said about the Flames and double it for return. They will want all our best prospects, picks, and NHL ready talent. No way Anaheim parts with him without asking for a King's ransom. Better to pick him up in a year as a FA than to pay what they would want.

A guy on the downside of his career on a team that is getting older and doesn't have a farm system with a lot of blue chip prospects? That doesn't seem like a blue print to keep making the playoffs for the next 5-10 seasons. The Wings need to get younger and keep their prospects in house because unless they tank for a few season they won't be getting much help from the draft. This isn't NHL 12 where you don't have to worry about anything beyond the end of the next season.
-
IF he were a free agent I would agree with you that he wouldn't be a terrible pick up, but for 7 million dollars AND prospects/picks makes him not worth it. Add to that Parise is 7 years younger and is just entering his prime then you see that Parise is the all around better option. Semin and Iggy are apples and oranges as Semin is less of a sniper and more of a playmaker.
-
A prospect? They will want Smith plus at least one of Jarnkrok, Pulkkinen, Jurco and possibly picks. Then the wings are saddled a 7 million dollar forward who didn't score 40 goals or hit over 70 points. For the 7 million dollars they need to commit it to younger players who will be with the organization for more than one season.
-
Not as valuable as money+top prospects. Iggy is not worth 7 million plus prospects+picks.
-
Iginla: 7 million dollars a year, on the downside of his career and will require some type of large return back to the flames? Hell no.
-
Lidstrom doesn't need to do anything. If he still cares about the team he will make his intentions clear well before July 1, but he owes the Wings and us fans nothing more than what he has already given us.
-
Meh, not in love with the Blues, but I am not that excited that they are out either... I can think of a lot of other teams I was happier to see go.
-
I seriously doubt it, he's a borderline 2nd-3rd line player using him on the first line won't make him better, it'll make the first line worse.
-
Too much for a flavor of the month player. There are a number of players in and outside the Wing's system that can do what he does (grit+faceoffs) for a lot less than near 3 million a year. Only other problem is Cleary... hes just lost his edge in every sense of the words, no grit, no skill, just floats.... he should not be on the first line.
-
They have financial issues and I don't see them spending anywhere near 70 million next year. Nashville are the Minnesota Twins of hockey, they put together a good team most years on peanuts.
-
Well look what I stumbled into...
-
I'd like Suter, Parise and Moen. IF the Wings swing those three players (with Lids) they will be an easy favorite next season.
-
The biggest issue in my mind is not enough timely scoring. Holland put a lot of his eggs into the Franzen basket, well just as a lot of people here thought hes not the 40 goal guy Holland thought he was. This team needs a true goal scorer on the first line with Pavel to help take the pressure off of him and Z. Had the wings last night or game 3 scored early they could have taken a lot of the wind out of Nashville's sails.

Me protesting a young earth creationist convention. The guys from Answers in Genesis were more insane than I could have imagined.

Just keep pressing it, there's a chance it might work once Personally hockey is great, but, win or loss I stand behind my team.

I would have shaved mine to start fresh, but I haven't been without facial hair since I was discharged from the Air Force.

Have the base coat ready for an epic playoff beard.
