Isn't Ruutu a left winger? As for any trade between the Canes' and Wings, the Canes' will want more than Hudler for him, they will ask for prospect and picks to sweeten the deal, and Ruutu isn't worth that much.
-
Doesn't look like much, but he was in a vulnerable position and the hit shouldn't have happened.
-
5 goals 6 assists over 12 games.
-
That's why they need him... it takes the defensive pressure off the twins, whereas, he hes out the Twins get to see a lot more pressure and don't seem to have the same scoring touch.
-
Its pretty much proven last year by Boston that if you take Kesler out (in their case defensively) and put the pressure on the twins, that they disappear.
-
Wasn't Kesler out with injury tonight?
-
Losing a 40 goal scorer doesn't make many teams look great.
-
First star to Howie. Nice to see him match Conks' work.
-
Too many men on the ice.... that should be game.
-
Empty net, lets put the icing on the cake here.
-
Just coming into say hello, and help Hockeytown get his big numbers. Go wings, keep it up!!!!
-
That team wouldn't make it past the first round.

So since the bump: Who wants to place their bets Two ponies in this race 50+ pts career season Less than 50 same old Flipper

If they did this kind of re-alignment I would lobby for the conferences to no longer be divided geographically, but evenly, so both conferences have east and west coast teams, north, south teams, etc. This way all teams will have to deal with long road trips equally throughout the Regular season and post season.
-
Reasons why this would be horrible: #1 No way the yotes trade Doan 1 for 1, they will want a king's ransom. The Wings will have to give up at least a prospect and a pick in addition. #2 Anyone Holland will look at will need to be a player either with years left on their deal, or likely to resign, this next off season will be hard enough without needing to add another top 6 forward. #3 The Yotes have made the playoffs 2 years in a row, there is no reason to assume they will be sellers. If they are anywhere close to the 8th seed no way they trade Doan anyway.
-
Yeah, because Boston wasn't going to make the playoffs that year, and Colorado paid through their nose for him. On top of that it was a class move, to get him a cup, I doubt whatever conglomeration that owns the yotes will send him Detroit for Hudler+++ unless its a great prospect and a first rounder, and Doan ain't worth that much. On top of all this next year is a huge flux year for Detroit, a lot of core players need contracts, Lidstrom will more than likely be gone, and anything that goes to Phoenix out of the farm for that old rental will only make Holland's job this off season that much harder.

I hate to rehash whats been said but here it is: Hudler is a one dimensional player, if hes scoring points than there is no reason to trade him, if hes not, than no ones going to take him. There are other players on the team that have PK, defensive, faceoff, etc. abilities that if they aren't lighting up the score sheet they are still worth having, those are the players that are easier to trade and get a decent return on. So lets bottom line this, if hes putting up points his trade value increases, but his chances of being traded fall. In fact, the better Hudler plays, the more likely other players maybe traded or waived.

That might be true, but, game 7 Nystrom wouldn't have scored the GWG. Brunnstrom had a bad year last year, but, he has talent. His attitude was always his issue not his skill level.
-
How does Nystrom help Detroit beat San Jose in the 2nd round? The Wings lost because of poorly timed penalty and no clutch scoring. If I want to put one of those two on the ice when I need to break a tie, or tie a game, Brunnstrom is the only choice. If I want to put a player in who won't cost the team a lead by taking a stupid penalty, again Brunnstrom wins.
-
Hudler looks good so far.
-
Tatar and Nyquist would be great if its an LTIR situation, but what about all those day to day situations? That's the most likely case for Brunnstrom to crack the roster, and would give any fourth liner/depth player ice time they would need to earn a spot. At this point the Wings have a lot of better options in the presser. PS. I said ironic in an attempt to be sardonic. Sardonic like sarcastic doesn't work well online.
-
The irony is that Brunnstrom is a lot more talented than Nystrom, his problem was his attitude. Attitude can be fixed, roster depth isn't a problem to be fixed. Nystrom's problem is hes a borderline NHL player, and the Wings are an amazingly deep team at forward. There is a reason why he didn't stay on the Flames or the Wild, two teams that have some of the worst forward depth in the league. What I don't think the enforcer slappies understand here is that when injuries come, and they will, plugging Brunnstrom or Mursak into the line up will be a lot better option than plugging in a goon.
-
There is a reason why the Wild waived him, if he can't fit in on the Wild's roster, which is not deep by anyone's definition, why would it be different for the Wings? Brunnstrom showed heart and hard play and earned a contract, Nystrom got bounced from a team expected to contend for a lottery pick. Gotta get the enforcer glasses off, he just doesn't fit in the depth chart anywhere. Sorry.
-
Honestly, where would he fit? There are so many players in GR/depth forwards in the presser he would be amazingly low on the depth chart. If he wanted to play in GR sure, but not with the big club.
