Think Jurco will make a push for the Griffins?
-
I hate to ask the dumb question but here goes: Why not Pulu or Ironhook?
-
Lets not be too hasty, WHL is much different from the AHL and Callahan cooled considerably the second half of his season. If he climbs that's awesome, but right now I still think hes going to be a career call up player until he backs up his good WHL season with some AHL time.

WMU head coach finalist for Wings' assistant coaching spot
Shaman replied to CenterIce's topic in General
I'm a Bronco, took WMU to the Frozen Four, and played pretty well in the NCAA tourney. It would be a tragedy to lose him from the Broncos but would love to see him in Detroit. -
I once had to take a class in organizational behavior, in this class I was taught a simple rule: 10% of people will automatically like you 10% of people will automatically hate you its the other 80% you have to worry about. I have found this rule to be pretty much true, no matter what you do there will be people who just don't like you, and usually those people are the ones who talk the loudest. From what I have heard from what I have read most players love Babcock because hes a good coach, if a few players don't like his style they can go to another team.

you misspelled 'getting'... ...seriously though, the wings have a good mix of talent and grit on the bottom 2 d men and bottom
-
In a 7 game series Mayers had 13 shifts, 7 mins of ice time and was a -1, not really an impact player.
-
Not saying this isn't true, but nothing from Mlive, TSN or NHL. Conklin is due for a rebound season, hes good for 20-30 games, which would be good to keep Howard rested Exelby will be in the 9-10 spot depth chart wise, as I have said before, Grand Rapids didn't resign about half its team so they need 2 of everything.
-
I could make an argument that because of the last couple expansions the NHL talent pool has become more watered down.
-
What chips? Their farm rosters have been rushed to the NHL level, most of them have underachieved, then they signed players that other GMs didn't want. On top of that Chicago is starting to get a reputation of being a team that has buyers remorse, a couple more waiving or trading players they regret signing for more than they are worth they will become a team no one wants to play for. I don't see Chicago being a huge player at the deadline unless its trading Sharp.
-
You didn't see him play last year because he signed for a Chicago team last year that despite its amazingly poor bottom 3 D men still assigned him to the AHL where no one picked him up on waivers.
-
Meaner and didn't address their horrible PK. Hope Crawford enjoys facing 40 shots a night
-
I can name 4 defenseman that would be above him on the depth charts just off the top of my head: Kindl Commodore Smith Janik The Griffins didn't tender offers to a dozen players after this season, and are looking for players to fill out their roster. This guy seems like a good fit for the team.
-
If this has any truth this is purely a Griffins move.

What it appears no one has figured out is that the offers on draft day are different than after July first. During the draft the most valuable assets on the table will be draft picks for that years draft, after July first the most valuable assets are players and prospects not picks. At the Draft Holland was probably looking for some type of package of picks for Hudler. Whereas today he would be looking for NHL ready talent or good prospects for Hudler. The problem is this year before July first the UFA pool as we all know was pretty shallow, so taking a player on for 2.85 million cap hit would hurt any teams chances of landing a prospect, and after July first since not many teams took an asinine contracts as they would most of the wings likely trading partners aren't looking to trade a bit higher paid player (4.0+) for Hudler plus some picks. Right now I doubt Holland would take picks for Hudler for the simple fact that the team needs wingers and would look for one in return.

"We feel good with the people we have" =/= "We aren't going to make anymore moves" For person who negged me =/= means "does not equal" Grow up.
-
They dumped a guy who will more than likely score 35+ goals for a guy that has never broken 80 points or 30 and averages 60~ games a season. Offensively the Sharks have taken a pretty large step backwards. As I have heard other say, the only way people can say the Sharks got better was through addition by subtraction. IE that Heater was s*** in the locker room and that because hes gone they have better moral.
-
Declining way too fast, the team already has an abundance of bottom 6 talent. No.

If you read the forums you might have seen that Wiz probably wouldn't have signed with Detroit for 10 million a season. Seems the Wings Org wronged his kin and now hes all fussin and feuding. But wait, everyone must want to play for the wings. So now that I got him off the list, who else? Ehrhoff? hes not any better defensively than White, he might be somewhat better offensively, but hes making 4 million next year plus a 8 million dollar bonus, really think hes worth 12 million next season? Yeah right. Kaberle? Hes good offensively, but he would make Ericsson look like a defensive Stalwart. So the wings lost some points on the back end, thats not the end of the world, if they get a good defense coach and reduce the number of GA that shouldn't be an issue. Remember kiddo it wasn't because Ozzie and Hasek were Vezina candidates that they won the Jennings in 07-08. The biggest issue the wings have coming into this season now is durability in the forward corp, if Franzen can make it 75+ games hes going to score over 35G and if Flip is healthy all season and plays on Dats wing he easily could have a 50 point season. But this isn't going to change if the Wings signed Bobby Orr in his prime, or a really really high Brett Lebda.

Bandwagon now making stops in Sacramento. Feel free to get off at any point. Seriously though, I have watched the Leafs and the Sharks a lot in the past 4 years, their fans and I agree hes a good player, maybe not Rafi 2.0 but, still a solid pick up at a good price. Just because the wings didn't steal Weber, Suter, Doughty, Hedman and stole a Delorean, invented the flux capacitor, and kidnapped Bobby Orr doesn't mean the Wings don't have a solid Defense. As for the Wings' prospect the only one in GR ready to step into the line up is Mursak, Tatar and Smith both would benefit another year in the AHL. Pulu and Ironhook are still under 20 and both are going to stay in Europe for one more season at least and dominate, and the other prospects in the wings system aren't even close to the big squad. Next season you will see a lot of youth both from within the organization and outside of it making the team, but that isn't today. For this season the Wings have a good team to ice, some youth, a few vets, some new faces, and a good core. If you don't like it, the Flyers overhauled, feel free to root for that.
-
Or the Wings could not sign a 37 year old forward who has been declining the last 3 seasons.
-
Look at the wings from the time Holland started and the Cap. The Wings and the Yankees had a lot in common, and a lot of the same grips about overpaid players and buying championships.

Thats not true. I am no Yankees fan but I would vote for Brian Cashman, 6 American League Championships, 4 World Series victories.
