No, hes not, from what I've seen of him hes pretty decent, hes not a 1-2 guy, but hes a solid 3-4 with a lot of PP upside.

Under 4 million hes a great deal, especially if its long term. Hes a good puck mover, young, and not horrible defensively.

If they move Hudler for no cap hit in return ill s*** bricks. The only player I can see that happening with Is Flip because he has a lot of assets teams want and a good cap hit.

    How Much Is Hudler Worth?

I'm sure Eva agrees, hes worth 350,000,000

This can happen no matter the player, amount or contract term, so I don't see why it even needs to be said. I mean Hamrlik can take a one year contract, and just not decide to show up. Again my personal opinion its better to take a guy in his mid to late 20s, offer them a 5+ contract and have one less thing to worry about over the next few years. Plus theres Lidstrom, hes more than likely done next season, and if the Wings sign Hamrlick hes probably only got a year left in him, you are faced with the same issue next year but compounded.

Sure in NHL 11 thats smart, but in real life where you can't count on the future. Locking up a young guy for 4-5 years who can score 30+ is better than 1 year of it because sometimes prospects don't pan out, and sometimes in the offseason you aren't able to replace a part. Thats why I believe taking a younger player who is entering their prime and offering them 50% more but also having them for longer term is a better move than taking a 37 year old man and hoping he will be a good stop gap.

No Hamrlik, I am tired of the wings gambling on old men who never seem to pan out. I mean who last season would have guessed that Modano would come, play a handful of games, and get benched in the playoffs? If the wings are going to get points from the back end better to do it with someone who won't just be on a one year contract. As for what Holland said, its very ambivalent, 'pretty much set' isn't 'not going to try to make a move'. I think what he means is if the season starts tomorrow he would be happy with his top 9, but, hes a smart GM and if a good deal for Richards comes along he will take it.

We would all be ok with Meech as a 7th Dman, but Meech isn't ok with Meech being a 7th Dman.

Babcock disagrees, and I would too, not too often I disagree with you, but in this case with Rafalski gone, there is an offensive hole on the Wings. If they pick up Richards, that will fill that hole.

    How Much Is Hudler Worth?

I voted 2-3m, I still have high expectations this season. I have a feeling you'll see him score 22 goals and have 38 assists next season. I believe.

Best bet for the wings to swing this would be to trade Flip, for pick (him plus our first for a pick around 12-16) or a defense prospect. The reason this is is because with Helm's emergence in the past couple seasons and Flip not having his break out season yet, hes the most movable piece that would get the Wings what they would need in the future while also giving them cap room. I don't see LA going after Richards, because Doughty will be their #1 priority and hes going to get a hefty raise.

He doesnt seem to understand that by cap hit Dats was the highest paid player, and I believe by actual salary Z was also paid more than him.

He wasn't the highest paid player last year. Sorry. Please some day perform research before you talk.

If any player should be traded it would be Filppula, it would be theoretically his spot Richards would take, Flip can be easily moved for prospects and picks without other teams trying to send back cap space, and if front loaded signing Richards would be very possible while still allowing Detroit space to pick up a middle tier Defenseman or two. Probably won't happen, but they won't trade Hudler, sorry guys, his worth is low, teams would want send a player back that would take up cap space, so hes the worst player try to get cap relief from.

Paul MacLean interviews for Senators Job

I just feel I could somehow blame Filppula for this but I am just not seeing how..... ...Seriously though, the wings, if they lose him, will be a much different team come October, whether its for the better not is up to what Holland does on and after July 1st.

Smith to be on Wings next season?

Don't know which playoffs you were watching, but I do believe there were a few games against the sharks a timely goal MAY have helped a little. Or even a timely clear or Abby not taking a jackass penalty. The Wings' defense wasn't 08 amazing, but it was pretty good in the playoffs.
  18. I agree you disagree, but, as was stated above it seems history is on my side of the argument, Smith had a pretty good season with the Griffins last season, but he still needs another season or two of seasoning in the AHL before he will be ready to make the jump.
  19. Smith wont be a wing next season, you can almost bet the farm on that.

    Changes in the offseason

The way you always seem to post that the missing piece the wings just cant win without is a fighter, I start to get the feeling that you would make those trades. The Wings don't need a fighter, you want them to have a fighter because you find fighting entertaining, if you would come out and affirm this statement and not make it seem like the only reason you want them to carry a fighter is because its their one dire need, I will stop arguing with you.

    Changes in the offseason

Not this season, but in the future, yes, as I said, I believe he can be a solid 3rd liner and even 2nd liner one day (Not saying for sure he will ever be anything, but the wings have developed him this long, he deserves his shot). As for the goon, when a player have as many fights in one season as points, in my book that player is probably a goon.

    Changes in the offseason

Mursak has 2nd/3rd line potential and you're asking me why he should have to compete with a guy you yourself fashioned as a guy who would sit more often than he played? Huh, this question almost answers itself, but since you asked me here it is: Because the Wings don't lose a guy with his upside because some guy on the internet wants a pugilist on skates so he can watch two grown men beat the hell out of each other for his entertainment.

    Changes in the offseason

Well with Mursak coming up, I would say Detroit is pretty much set for DEPTH FORWARDS (caps lock is the cruise control of cool on the internet). Edit, spelling.

Alex Auld would be a pretty good back up who could start 30 games and keep the wings in it.

17 points in 160 games is offensive upside? By that logic Miller is the next Gretzky.
