I don't think the Wings' bottom 6 spots are in play, too many people already in them and more coming up. If the Wings get a forward it needs to be a 2nd line winger. If theres a guy with hands and an eye for the net that can also play gritty sure, I would be all for it, but a 4th liner isnt going to solve the wings issue of no real scoring depth.

I hope he adds a second liner, because as it stands this team has no scoring depth.

I read it more that the core will stay as is, but that doesn't preclude that an addition will be made.

Right now Detroit is low on scoring wingers and defensive defenders, so that would be what I would want them to pursue. I wonder if anyone will take Hudler, and the Wings' first for a higher pick, because Sven Baertschi looks like an interesting pick.

I would give Hudler the ultimatum, work hard in the first few games of next season or watch from the presser until he can be traded, or his contract is up. When he isn't floating he has the talent to be a difference maker, but again he actually has to be not floating. As I have said in other threads the wings need to sure up the second line (either getting a center and moving Flip to wing, or getting a good winger) and keeping D and Z together, and getting a good defenseman like Wiz or Joni Pik to give the wings a lot of options for D pairings and a bit more leeway for Lids (who will be coming back, but will play less minutes).

A coin flip series ended in a coin flip. I think if they played 700 games against each other it would have ended 350 wins each or in that ball park, these two teams stack up really well against each other. And heres my question: What if the Wings only have 4-5 days off between games? not over a week? Would they have come out stronger?

Brad Richards, Brooks Laich, Alex Tanguay, Michael Ryder (if he takes a nice hair cut), James Wisniewski, Joni Pitkanen, Alex Auld. This is the list of players I could see fitting into the wings nicely and adding something they lack. Obviously not all of them, but, 1-2 could really help in my mind.

QFT Also they only roll 3 lines, it would be easier to not scratch him and just have him sit while a 4th liner plays in his stead, that way if you go down you can still put him in.

I really hope they make some type of big splash, I am so tired of them playing it safe and not getting anywhere. The last two years they didn't have much cap space, but with a 5 million increase possible, some retirements, Lids possibly taking a minor pay cut, they could make a large move like they did 08/09, even if it doesn't work it will at least add some entertainment value.

Maybe he can help Teemu make his transition, show him were to improve his game for N America.

I understand what you're saying and I really don't think Holland will make a drastic move. My hope though is he takes some risks this offseason because staying the course the last two years haven't gotten the wings too far. The three years the wings made deep runs were years they made some type of move in the offseason and at the deadline, and purely from the entertainment side of things it adds excitement.

Don't know which game you were watching... but whenever I saw Abdelkader he was hitting people instead of making a play at the puck. If the Wings were a dump and chase team that would be ok, but puck possession teams play the puck then the body.

/Disagree if anyone needs to sit, its Abs, Hudler actually had some chances, Ab just kinda was running around, he played the body instead of the puck on the GWG and couldnt keep his stick down.

Well, time to call out Filppula, hes disappeared again, only 2 points since in the last 13 games and is a -1. For what his role on the team is this is unacceptable and is hurting the team because he needs to be scoring because as we all know Zetterberg and Datsyuk can't score all the points for the Wings if they expect to go anywhere in the post season.
