Less than what they are worth but enough to keep them here... as it is with 99% of jobs in the world.

I wouldn't go that far, Maltby was a 50 goal scorer in the minors.
-
From what I've read about him he only fights people who are smaller than he is.... Sounds more like a Lemieux style fighter.

Can't renegotiate under the CBA
-
Ok, Heres the bottom line: The Blackhawks if they sign 5 players at 600,000 or less only have 2,000,000 in space to sign Nemmi or another goalie. Their fans What Threeorfour but... that in my mind would be the nail in the Chicago coffin for any chance going deep into the playoffs. This bloated contract maybe the best thing the sharks have ever done as a franchise. Tampa bay 2.0 here they come.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=327374 TSN confirmed they matched... So.. 113k to sign 7 players... They cant send Huet down to the minors or KHL till the beginning of the season... they can go over by 10% so they have to sgin 8 players for league min to not be over cap.

They will have to take a lot of salary back to get rid of soup.

@#2 He played 82 games, games in which Kronwall missed and half of the other team missed, he constantly played against top lines on a depleted team, the fact that he was -12 is really a misleading stat for his play last year. @#3 So? He was never brought here to play the offensive defensemen role. When the team was healthy in the playoffs he 6 points in 12 games and was +6. If you look at his stats hes a solid playoff performer.

Meech brings so much to the table i thought it would be unfair to the wings to have to part with someone as good as Maltby, but ill throw in a 7th round draft pick in a year to be named later. If they want to get really deep, ill throw in the right to Larson and grigorenko for Perry and Hiller
-
Meech for Bobby Ryan, Getzlaf and their next 5 first round picks.
-
Love to have Mitchell on the wings

Ok I guess Stevkrause missed the first part of my post: If Smith WINS a roster spot. I'd rather the wings ice the best possible team out of camp, then to give a spot to someone based on draft order/age.

Ok, heres the skinny on that: While they can do that, they can't do it till the beginning of the season, meaning that he will count against their cap... so until that point they still only have 3.6 million to play with. So if they match the offer it will eat up their remaining cap space heres how it looks 2010-11 Chicago Blackhawks PLAYER BONUS CAP HIT FORWARDS Jonathan Toews — $6,300,000 Patrick Kane — $6,300,000 Marian Hossa — $5,275,000 Patrick Sharp — $3,900,000 Dave Bolland — $3,375,000 Tomas Kopecky — $1,200,000 Marty Reasoner — $1,150,000 Troy Brouwer — $1,025,000 Viktor Stalberg ($65,000) $850,000 DEFENSEMEN Brian Campbell — $7,142,875 Duncan Keith — $5,538,462 * Niklas Hjalmarsson — $3,500,000 Brent Seabrook — $3,500,000 John Scott — $512,500 GOALTENDERS Cristobal Huet — $5,625,000 * Antti Niemi — $2,500,000 BUYOUTS NONE LOST VIA REENTRY WAIVERS NONE CARRY-OVER BONUS PENALTY $4,157,753 CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS ROSTER SIZE 16 SALARY CAP $59,400,000 PAYROLL $61,851,590 BONUSES $65,000 CAP SPACE $-2,386,590 they can go over by 10% meaning they have 3.6 to sign 6 players meaning all players will need to sign contracts at .6 million.

Maybe if this is how the wings look at the beginning of the season and Smith wins a roster spot Lids-Raffi Kronwall-Big E Stuart-Smith It would be a lot better than putting Big E out here with the rookie smith, and Stuarts shut down physical play will offset Smith's more offensive minded play.
-
Still not impossible, but it does look a lot harder now.
-
With how much players are being over paid this off season, I wouldn't be surprised if someone offered him a fat contract.
-
I say sign Kader and Helm and see how the team is in Feb, and if we have the space left make a play for Mikko Koivu, I know its a long shot, but Id love to have him playing for the wings, and hes a UFA at the end of next season... Just saying.
-
I fear how much Boll gets after what Boogard got..
-
Hudler laughs at you lack of faith.
-
And Im a Hudler slappy too.
-
Id argue that by skill hes a top six forward... over Bert..
-
Millers shooting % is higher... fights count for nothing, as they don't win games the PK is almost a wash, Id prefer it to be boiled down to PK goals against per minute. More blocked shots does count for something though. Hits... well TOI differences could make up the difference but they still both have a lot.

Defensive forward meaning player who plays the best in the defensive role (IE 3/4th line) so that takes out Flip, Dats, Z, Cleary. Helm has great speed but, I still think Miller is better, Eaves is better offensively.. but if you watched last year, it was close but i think Miller did a better job. Abby... I really can't say hes not been in the NHL long enough to judge how good he truly is. If I were to say the best forward bar none for defensive play it would be Z or D no question. I should have clarified my point that I was talking about the bottom 6 players. Well lets look at the stats Miller had a better +/- 3 less points more gwg, and only played 1 more game than Eaves.
-
Because, I am tired of people trashing miller that he doesn't bring anything we don't already have... having 3 players that can kill a penalty isnt enough, and hes probably our best defensive forward on the team... he doesnt play a flashy high powered offensive game or fight, so he doesn't get noticed like Flip or some enforcer. Hes a solid forth liner, and I think the wings are a better team with him.
