I can see it if he means like as compared to players like Z or Dats, who werent supposed to be making as much as they are, but, due to talent+work ethic they are elite players. Whereas Kane is a natural talent, a first rounder, and didnt have to work as hard to get his big contract.

If (HUGE IF) they ship out Huet for a budget goalie, and with their defense not being the best in the league, I don't see how they can do well in the playoffs. Pittsburgh beat the Wings not only because of a good group of young forwards, they beat the Wings because Flower was able to make the big saves game 6 and 7. I see them having a lot more in common with Tampa than with Pittsburgh.
