Detroit to offer Hossa long term deal

youre an idiot. Hed be getting an average of 4 million over a decade, meaning hed get 6 or so million this season and for the next few, and then it would go down over time to average 4 million.

lower the cap hit, the greater the chance of ntc.

why not grab some playoff style defensemen?

Why? Let me see, if we pick these guys up, we'd have to give up someone who would probably be on the PK that one of those players would surely draw on a nightly basis, why not just spot every team a goal and skip the middle man?
  4.    I couldn't have said it better myself Neil, or whoever everyone has elected to the wings will not fill the role of what we really need, its not Grit, we have Helm (who will be a wing next season) and Abs who will be great 3rd line guys for us. We need secondary scoring from somewhere, whether from the backend or the forward position. If we lose Hossa and Hudler who will replace the 110+ points that they produced in the reg season? Neil won't. With the decline of Homer, we really could be a one line team next year if we lose those 2 guys and don't replace them. And even if we split up Dats and Z we still kinda have to use players who aren't 100% suited as fill ins. Franzen-Z-Cleary Flip-Dats-? While they are good players, I would feel a lot better not having Cleary as a first line player all season, hes so much better on the first line when he proves he can keep up, which is for about 1/2 the season, but, hes like a lot of role players, hes hot for a month, and then cools down. So my point is this, grinders aren't a bad idea, but, we need balanced scoring to win.

    Pens salary next year

Well the thing is they are putting it into the idea that the cap could drop to as low as 50 million in the next couple years, which would put 55% of your team's salary on 4 people, which would mean you'd have to move someone with a large cap hit.

    So, Crosby has his cup..

Because Kwame had enough trouble last year without getting copyright law and Mike L on his ass?
  7. ya but they'd have to be willing to take almost as much salary back from us, and the questions is: Who do we have that they would want to take off our hands to make up for his salary?
  8. If the rumor that Hossa will take a Franzen like contract is true, we would be able to keep him easily.
  9. Ok, As if there are not enough threads, I decided to ask a questions: Whos going to be the hero today? My Prediction is Pavs

    PRONGER TRADED TO LA

Id say that in the short term its a downgrade, but, in the long term, this is a great move for Anaheim to keep their back end young and deep.

I trust Pavel to win the Cup, you should too

Ya, hes my hero too, when he has to watch that 'I never want to be in this photo again' commercial and realize hes not, hes in an away uniform, and against the bell tire sign, the tears he cries will be the sweetest of rewards
