yore right that he wouldn't rest a perfectly healthy Lids, but, I have a feeling that its probably more error on the side of caution in this case, had we lost game 4, i really think lids would have played last night, but, with things pretty much wrapped up, well, better to be 100% for saturday, then 80% for last night.

So the Pens would be soooo great without crosby or malkin, who are carrying them? They would be below 500 without one of them. So please, when you throw stones, you shouldnt live in a glass house, so to speak.

Im gunna repost this, because I think its a huge point and why the Pens fans shouldnt be as cocky and nonchalant about it as they are. The difference in GAA between the wings and pens is .5, now that doesn't seem impressive to the pens fan, but, lets use the regular season as a good sample size for what .5 GAA difference between 2 teams really means. This year the Pens had a 2.80 GAA which isn't great, but they made the playoffs and now the SCF. If you add .5 to that you get 3.30. Whats the significance of 3.30 gaa? Well its pretty simple, the team that had that this season currently has the #1 overall draft pick this year. .5 GAA is massive, its the difference between a playoff team and a nonplayoff team. Just some food for thought for the pens fans.

.5 gaa is HUGE. Want to know how huge, lets use the Regular season as a sample set, the Pens had a 2.8 GAA per game, know what team was only allowing .5 more? the Islanders. .5 in Hockey is the difference between a SCF team and a team that is in the draft lottery. Just so you know.

I agree, Malkin and Crosby are both great, Id give my left nut to see Ovie in a wings Jersey, and thats just 3 examples, but, I know some Pittsburgh fans who would back me up at this point Staal is over paid for what he does.

I guess I am biased against Staal at this point, but, I am also tired of hearing how every player from Pittsburgh is the greatest ever at what they do, but, seeing as you agree that 6 out of 7 are better, if only a little. It goes a long way towards proving my original point that VS are blowing how great every player on the Pens way out of proportion.

Id say the following forwards are at a higher level defensively from Detroit: Flip, Helm, Draper, Zetterberg, Dats, Hossa, Maltby, and Cleary. And by normal, i meant like the ones on Detroit who are on the ice for other purposes then just to shut down the other teams top players.

Id have to say it has more to do with your 2 superstars carrying your team, despite average Defense, inconsistent goaltending, and a lack of depth both at forward (the fact the Pens don't even roll 4 real lines points to this) and on the blue line.

My point is, hes really not even in the same league as Detroit's normal forwards, let alone the Wings best Defensive forwards. And yet VS make it sound like he was doing a great job against a Canes team that didn't really score, and not because of him, from what i could see.

Well, im just saying that VS is saying J. Staal is such a 'great' defensive forward.

Oh noes Jordan Staal is a good defensive player, with his -1 in a series where his team didnt lose 1 game
