Schneider and Bertuzzi make Ducks debut

Isn't the cap a per game cap? It can't be an average over the year. You can't have a 25 million team Oct to Jan and then fatten up to a $75 mill team for the playoff run. Can you??

    stay duck fans

Appreciate the invite, but I've followed hockey for a long time in multiple cities and have never seen as much hate, elitism, and ill will from a message board as I've seen on this one. I love hockey. Good, old time, hard hitting hockey with passionate fans. I'm a North East transplant, but I will follow the local team in whatever city I am living in. Remember, it's the same guys being traded around the league now. Very few franchise players any more. I'm all for rivalries and pitching one team against another based on history or geography. But so many on this board have turned homer-ism into hate for other teams, players, and fans. And it sullies the game. It really does. I wish that I lived somewhere that was so passionate about hockey that it could be call "Hockeytown". But I don't. So I'll follow hockey whereever I go, and I won't ridicule the fans. Or the players. Or the team. I just want to enjoy the sport for what it is. The most magnificent game in the world, with the most gifted athelites, and the most knowledgable and passionate fans a sport could have. Good luck. As demonstrated by your example, Wings fans are amongst some of the finest in the game, but there is so much hate mixed in with the passion for some of your bretheren. Hope to play you (the Wings) in the playoffs again next year!

Anaheim not exactly the new Hockeytown

So, they went to the beach on game day (knowing fans would be going to the game by now) and interviewed a chick sun tanning and elementary school children. The only thing that this demonstrates is how biased the Canadian Media is. Remember that a lot of SoCal are transplants. Like me from the North East. And my hockey buddy from Montreal. We (the transplants) do the heavy lifting. And the natives (native Californians) are learning. I've met some pretty passionate locals. It takes time to build history and an entrenched fan base.

    Chelios not shaking hands . . .

Okay, that part about respecting Wings fans? You're making it hard.

    Chelios not shaking hands . . .

I posted here right after the Pronger hit and stated that I thought that it rated a 5 game suspension. No homer glasses here. Enough with the goon and classless talk and the California fans suck crap. I respect the Wings and their fans. I wished that I lived in a place called "hockeytown". I love hockey and would never disrespect the game or my team by not shaking hands.

    Chelios not shaking hands . . .

This is one of the funniest responses I have ever read. Just slightly twisted enough to say... "He's kidding... I think."

Why the Orange County Ducks wont win

If anyone wants a reason the Michigan Motor Wings won't win this series is it Giguere... ... sorry, I couldn't reisist with team name faux pas.

    Holmstrom Hit from Behind

How long to suspend Pronger for? I had to sleep on this. For the record, it's really hard to pull the Homer glasses off you head. I had to ask myself what if that was a Duck being head smashed into the boards? I actually had a flashback to the Ducks-Edmonton series when he was doing those dirty runs at our players. I think they were repressed memories! Deep sigh... I would support a suspension of at least 5 games. On one hand, I hope not. But the part of me that loves hockey more than I love my team, says 5 or more games. This makes me sad just saying it. Hmph.

    Holmstrom Hit from Behind

I haven't made it home from the game to see it on tivo, but with the limited photos I've seen... I say that Neids hit was a fairly clean shoulder hit. But Prongs forearms (not elbows) unacceptable high and on the back of the head. Not cool, Prongs! It appears suspension worthy to me.

What a crock of ... It

I believe that Nidermeyer thought it was under the leg of Hasek where he was jamming, not in Hasek's pads on top of his knee. It jarred loose and fell on Hasek's arm as Nieds push him into the net. That's why I feel Hasek did not have full possesion and control, because it fell out as he slid. I feel the call is more gray than most LGWs are willing to admit. But I'll admit, in a perfectly called game with perfect "Ref Vision" and instantaneous whisle speed, the best call would have been no goal. Good luck next game.

What a crock of ... It

You left out an important phrase "after making a stop". j. In the event that a goalkeeper has been pushed into the net together with the puck after making a stop, the goal will be disallowed. If applicable, appropriate penalties will be assessed "Making a stop" means that the goalie has control and possession of the puck. He did not. So the previous rule applies... i. In a rebound situation, or where a goalkeeper and offensive player(s) are simultaneously attempting to play a loose puck, whether inside or outside the crease, incidental contact with the goalkeeper will be permitted, and any goal that is scored as a result thereof will be allowed. We can argue with our Homer glasses on about which rule applies in this case, but the refs called it as Rule 78i applying, not 78j.

    good luck in game 2

Yes, seriously. This seems to be the hardest wait ever for a game as a ducks fan. I guess it's a tough wait when you're down 0-1 in a series, knowing how important game 2. Good luck. Let's hope for no injuries and good officiating (for a change). Go Ducks!

    Welcome Ducks Fans

Congrats on the win of SJ. I had wanted a Ducks matchup with Red Wings because I considered the Sharks to be slightly more talented than both of our teams. But now I'm worried. We all know that it takes more than talent to win the SC. It takes GUTS! And now the Wings have proven that they have it! Ruh Roh! My match up, IMHO... Offense: Offensive scoring: Wings Forwards playing defense: 1 line- Ducks, other 3 lines- Wings Defense: Defensive scoring: Ducks Defense playing defense: Even Goalie: close, slight edge to Hasek PP: Wings PK: Ducks X-Factor: Physicality- Ducks (I know you'll disagree) X Factor: Guts- Wings Where does this put us? No one wins in less than 6 games. Could go either way, but slight edge to Wings. Good luck and good hockey!!
