i just keep thinking that as long as we're winning games, it's okay because once he DOES break out, the opposition will be eff'd. i didn't get to see last game but from the highlights it looked like he had a lot of jump in his step and was getting chances but just wasn't quite finishing. i think he'll be fine. also, the fact that stewie has that many points is a really great thing. go stuart!

merh. it just sucks that homer will now have to be extra careful playing in front of hiller...hopefully it won't take him off his game too much. i fully expect at least one goal called off, though. maybe they'll call off a dastyuk goal. after they waved off hossa's he responded with two goals including the game-winner the following game. could work for pavel as well.

no one's saying he didn't get elbowed, but that's not what caused the injury. the only way you'd need a stretcher from an elbow is if it broke your neck, which it obviously didn't. and while an inadvertent elbow might be just as penalty-worthy as an accidental high-stick, there was clearly no intent to injure and indeed no injury as the injury was caused by the shot to the chest.

unreal. there was an inadvertant elbow from homer, but that was NOT what took W off the ice. it was the shot that injured him. and homer did not "skate by" and elbow him. that is the worst description of that play. he was tied up with another anaheim d-man unaware that W was even there (probably) and an elbow came up in the battle for position. jesus christ. see, again, i agree with you that if we played sixty minutes we probably would have won regardless of the call. but for me, that still in no way diminishes the fact that we scored and got screwed by the refs. yeah, you can argue that hossa should have had five goals in the first 50 minutes of the game and then none of this would have mattered. but it did matter. that goal, whether it comes at 1:20 of the first or 19:59 of the third is a legit goal that should be counted toward whatever the final score is. if hossa would have scored that goal at 1:20 of the first and it was waved off and we still lost 2-1, would you say we need to play better in the third instead of the first? obviously we want to score more goals, but we scored as many as they did, regardless of what time of the game they came at, and were denied ours. that's why i'm more pissed at the refs than i am the wings, though i agree wholeheartedly that the wings can and should play better than they did tonight. again, this argument is predicated on the assumption that hossa's goal didn't count. how would our half-effort have not cut it against the ducks? it would have been a tie game going into OT. granted, they are just as likely to win it at that point, but we'll never know. there's no reason to say that our effort tonight (lax though it was) would NOT (with emphasis) be enough to beat the ducks. we'll never know if it would have been enough to beat them because we tied it up and got screwed by a call. what if hossa's goal counts and we win it in OT? then this effort WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO BEAT THE DUCKS, contrary to what you're saying. however, we'll never get to know if that was or wasn't the case because of the BS officiating. he got an elbow, but that was not what injured him. it was the shot. they happened on the same play but it was clear from the replay that he was badly hurt after the shot and the elbow just happened to come at the end of the play, at which point he collapsed.

i agree that the ducks wanted it more for 2/3 of the game. we wanted it more in the third. and we scored. and got f***ed by the refs. now, granted, you can argue that we shouldn't have been down 2-1 at all. if hossa woudda if datsyuk woudda blah blah blah, but the fact is that we scored and the anaheim mightyrefs stole it. IMO, end of f***in story.

i realize that the regular season is different than the playoffs, but lilja played way better this regular season than he has any regular- or post-season to date. in previous years, his post-season performance was about on par with his regular season performance: a few hits, a few blocked shots, a lot of s***ty defense. this year, he was more physical and playing much, much better defensively. i have no reason to believe that this superior play wouldn't have translated into the playoffs.

i blame marchant for firing a fricking laser. ducks deserved this one. it's a long series. it's 1-1 right now with their top line playing out of this world--if hossa and dats can get going at ALL, the clear edge is to the wings. (of course, at this point, that seems like a fairly big if...but i have faith!)

FML. as much as i've dogged raffi for his suspect defensive play at times, we could really use his puck movement right about now. honestly, lebda hasn't been bad this series, but having raffi and lilja back would be sweeeet. obviously we could use lilja's size and raffi's point skills. we just need to grab one of two in anaheim and hope he's back for the tail end of the series.
