wings looked great. expect a better period from the avs in the second. but if we keep playing like this, we'll be fine. i was expecting a low scoring game. maybe it'll end 3-2 or so--maybe the first period of the series isn't a good indicator. either way....GO WINGS!
-
god, wings. THIS IS HOW YOU PLAY. 12 periods of play like this and we're in the third round. GO FRANZEN!
-
how about every the announcers mention the active boards?
-
agreed. no "luck" at all on hank's goal. plus, if theodore freezes that puck, no goal. *shrug*
-
it's just luck. the wings aren't actually good.
-
see?
-
merh. we'll get it back.
-
what ever happened to magoo or mcgeauh or however you spell his name?
-
i just noticed that both the wings and the avs have 17 goals for and 12 goals against in 6 games. i guess there's not a ton to discuss here, but i thought that points to how contested this series is going to be.

absolutely the right play. i didn't see a great replay of it, and i couldn't tell how much the d-man was on federov. but, like others have said, that's easily a slam dunk for feds. part of me wonders if everyone--including federov--was expecting AO to shoot the puck. could be that the defense was just too tight on him, but part of me wonders if federov wasn't expecting the pass, assuming that ovechkin was going to shoot. with how for our of his crease biron was, a shot from the slot is going to have a hard time getting in. most likely it's either an easy save for biron or AO tried to pick a corner and shoots the puck wide. if anyone's going to be regretting that play, it should be federov for not getting his stick on the puck. AO made the right play. and i don't think that we're saying that just because he's ovechkin...ANYone should have passed the puck in that situation. if he shoots and doesn't score, everyone's pissed because he had federov with an open net and didn't pass it. *shrug* that's the breaks, but i think AO made the right play.

...watch us get beat by the stars. not that i'm hoping for that, but it would be awfully ironic. bye, ducks.

bro, you got snow yesterday? i'm in mid-michigan---generally snow's last resort before giving up for the summer. sorry for your luck, pal...

so i'm chiming in a bit late here...didn't watch the game, just some highlights, and i have to go do homework. (f*** school.) but i just watched the hightlights of the dal-anh game...and though dallas won, i saw the first dallas goal waved off for "goal tender interference." it made me think. so we think that the refs love the ducks. i agree. the duck fans disagree because they get more penalties than anyone else, so how could the refs possibly be giving favor to them? well you could make the argument that they commit three times the penalties of other teams but only get called for 1.5 times the penalties calls. that's a side point. my point is, they called off a stars goal because someone was "in the crease." no one was. it made me think of of barry trotz being so pissed off because homer's skates were like two inches in the crease during one of our goals early in the series. he can use the precedent of that fateful goal during our big losing streak against the ducks when homer had like half a blade in the blue and the goal was waved off. but i think this could be a counter-argument. i mean, the point is, the ducks (and maybe not just the ducks--maybe it's just overall inconsistent officiating--but in my homer-rosy-glasses-i-hate-the-ducks view, it's them) get goals waved off for goalie interference even when, in this case, a dallas player is NO WHERE NEAR THE BLUE PAINT. so maybe homer's non-goal, the one that the preds are referencing, should have been a goal, and the refs just like to give the ducks no-goal calls because somehow the michilen man (i spelled that wrong; i don't care) can't stop everything, and the almighty, all holy, and all infallible, j.s. giggy actually might not be that amazing of a goal tender and f*** up once in a while. i'm drunk and i'm ranting. GO WINGS IN GAME FIVE!!!! :chug: edit: kelsey.

last night, in the final minutes we needed a clutch goal. i'd think that zetterberg would be the best candidate for that clutch goal...he's probably the most clutch guy on our team. (not based on any statisical analysis, just my feelings.) problem is, it took ozzie like four times to get to the bench because our whole team couldn't settle the puck down in the offensive zone for s***. we couldn't even get INTO the zone. if you think it's z's responsibility to recover the puck from the defensive zone, get it past the blueline, set it up, pass to himself, and score a goal, then yeah, you could say it's his fault. but considering that he's still probably the most guarded guy on our team (you could make an argument with datsyuk) i'd say that's a pretty tall order. yeah, i want to see more out of him. i think he's got it inside. but you can't blame this loss on him. he's got half of our game-winners this post season. i have a feeling *crosses fingers* we'll see a big game out of him tomorrow.

go wings in the 4rd!!!!

i can't remember how many times this series i've said "oh, val, so close!" it seems like he's always ALMOST about to make the great play. he gets past two guys and then barely can't outscate the third one. the puck JUST bounces off his stick, JUST misses the net, JUST gets deflected on the way to datsyuk with a wide open net. it's frustrating. i'm really hoping he can break out soon. it's good to see hudler getting a little something going. val's got the tools. i agree with those who think that it's more of a mental thing, an issue of confidence. i've seen him make enough great place, and almost make many more, to know that he can get to that next level. whether he will or not is a big question mark. but i think it's guys like him that can tip the series in our favor. flipper gets a goal or two, starts heating up, then they can't only focus on hank and pavel. val doesn't need to a point-per-game player all the time, but he has to make the other team think he can be. c'mon val, make us proud! go wings!
-
nice. very funny. haha...i'm expecting a 2-1 or maybe a 3-2 win tonight. i'm pulling for flipper and rex to break out--goal and an assist each.
-
so i know it's fasionable to rag on the refs. i can see the call to kronner. but no call on dumont. no call on weber for a late slash after sammy was playing the puck BEFORE the whistle. oh well. at least our PK seem pretty on.
-
hell yes lilja.
-
man, val just can't seem to make it happen lately...
-
three tiny words: datsyuk to zetterberg.
-
oh, manny. he's so emo. it's that i-want-to-get-down-on-myself-and-die s*** that cost us the playoffs against the oilers. and i think it just cost him a career in broadcasting.
