Not to try and piss you off and make you think that I am another stupid Ducks fan who knows nothing about hockey, and when I say things here I try to say them with as much respect as possible because I know I am a guest, but I just want to give a counter view of how the Ducks fans could look at this situation. The Ducks that you saw last night were not the Ducks that I have seen play this season. They were terrible on the PK and on the PP (credit the Wings). They skated pretty well 5 on 5 but this was definitely not their best effort. I also think that their 8 day layoff might have been a small factor and they might not have had legs tonight either. As I said our PP is too predictable and everyone who has watched hockey before knew that Pronger was going to shoot from the point. I agree that the Wings showed hustle in sliding in front of him but sometimes hustle can cost you a mistake i.e. Francois Beauchemin sliding to block a puck and having it ricochet off of him and into the back of the net. My only point here is that neither of us saw our teams play to their full potential and tonight I think Detroit wanted it more. I think this is going to be a long series and it could very well likely come down to game 7. Here's to a good game 2

The problem with the Ducks PP is that it is too predictable. Everyone in the universe knows that it is either going to be Pronger on the point or Teemu on the left circle (or right if you are looking from the goalie's perspective). The Red Wings did a great job of putting bodies in the way of those two and as a result made the PP difficult for us. The best chance we got on the PP we put off the crossbar. With positional goalies like Dom and Jiggy though you make life interesting when you put bodies in front of them i.e. the Holmstrom goal. I agree but here is why I also think that there were a lot of calls against the Wings. I think the refs are trying to stop the holding and hooking penalties as much as possible and as a result are calling terrible penalties like some of the ones tonight. I could be wrong and I am trying to be as unbiased as possible when I say this but I think the Ducks penalties that weren't called were more along the lines of interference and things like that. Unfortunately most of the Wings penalties were for holding and that is why they were called. I am in no way saying I think that is the way it should be. That is just my opinion on why it could have been that way.

No doubt that this series is going to be frustrating for both sides as both these teams battle it out. I think it will be interesting to see how the teams adjust and how the goalies react. I would expect to see more traffic in front of Hasek to try and create some bounces and rebounds that he can't pick up. I thought it was a good shot by Kunitz. I don't know what Dom's normal goals are but I figured if one like that got by him it was a decent shot. He played a great game though and did what it took to get a win.

Frustration is probably what you would be feeling if the goals that decided the game were scored in that way. I agree that the game was won on special teams tonight but if you think that Detroit didn't play to the level they are capable of on 5-5, I am going to say the Ducks didn't play anywhere near the level they have on the PK or the PP. I will give some credit to the wings though since they made some nice plays but I also have watched the Ducks all season and know their PK is much better than it showed tonight. As far as penalties go I will admit that the refs made some questionable calls against the Wings and missed some against the Ducks but the also missed some against the Wings as well. I am not going to say that the refs were the determining factor in the game tonight but the bad calls went both ways. I think both teams showed heart tonight and Detroit's was just a little bit bigger tonight. Game 2 is going to be just as close and just as tough.

The way he said it makes it seem like there was no way that he was seriously trying to trash talk. I think if it was a real attempt, it would have been laced with expletives (much like the posts I read on this site). I thought it was hilarious. I'm pretty there was no other trash talk on the ice either. That was the only incident. Oh and when he threw out the f-bomb, he was yelling at the ref for not calling the high stick he had just received behind the net.

I will not be one of those people that says that if game 2 goes that way. It's done and over with and there is no sense in looking back and saying "what if?" To be fair, if the Ducks had scored two goals like that, would there or would there not be people all over this board saying that those goals were flukes and that the Red Wings should have won? I agree with Giguere in saying that you create those types of chances but I don't have to like it if those kinds of chances go in.

I don't like excuses either. I think it was pretty balanced and the Wings did what it took to win the game. It will be fun series. I do think it's funny that you guys are predicting a sweep though.

I think it was a pretty even game and the bounces did go the Red Wings way. There is no doubt about that. Your defense played great and so did your goalie but it came down to a couple of bounces that found the back of the net for you guys.

We played a good game and your goalie stood on his head. I have no reason to be discouraged. Strangely enough I think the Ducks will still come to the rink on Sunday and play. I think at practice tomorrow we are going to work on putting the puck in the other net and not our own.

Fun game to watch. Frustrating as all get out but fun. It looks like the bounces are going to be what wins the series. I think the first star of the game for you guys Francois Beauchemin. He had both goals.

When the Sharks and Kings aren't playing, then the Ducks have fans

Duckette it's good to see you over here as well. I don't really take the kind of posts too seriously because they are a couple thousand miles removed and this guy is getting his information from queens fans so of course they are going to say bad things about us. Our crowd has moments when they get loud and sometimes they just sit there but that is all that a lot of people know how to do. A lot of people are just being converted to hockey and are used to sitting at Angels game that are much slower and don't involve the crowd as much as hockey does. Give the fans time and they will be loud and they know how to be loud in certain situations as well. Why compare Anaheim to Detroit? It's just a waste of breath. No one would say the Ponda is louder than JLA. -
This is going to be a great series. I am so excited for Friday. I apologize for any Ducks fans that come over here and don't give any respect and run their mouths about how the Ducks are going to win it in 3. Any Ducks fan will tell you that we wanted San Jose to win so we didn't have to face you guys. I for one have tremendous respect for the Red Wings organization and am looking forward to this series. I am actually making my first ever trip to Michigan for the 4th of July week. I am excited!

We can all have our opinions about who is going to win it in how many games and how one team is way better than the other. I think this is going to be an evenly matched series and I think whoever comes out has a great shot at winning the cup. I have not watched enough Wings games this year to make any statements like "the Ducks are way faster and more physical" so I am not going to. I am going to say that both teams are going to have to play at the top of their games in order to win. That being said, here's to a great series. Go Ducks!
