Getting sick of "Ovie's" goal celebration's

Exactly. The guy is a supreme talent, and he plays on his emotion, it's all he knows. But I think he'll find out when the Capitals start getting into serious playoff situations in the future that in big games emotions can be your worst enemy when you lack composure. Granted we're just talking goal celebrations here, but still it's a window allowing a view into how deeply seated emotion is in his game.

    Fedorov this season

Well I guess what should be considered is that Fedorov is still in the league for a reason, because he's one of the best hockey players in the world. Granted that is relatively speaking, within the league he is still a talent and probably more valuable than alot of guys his age, but he's nowhere near what he once was. Also, I don't think the consensus here is that Fedorov is "washed up" persay. If people here attach any negative connotation to him it's probably got a lot more to do with his attitude when he left Detroit and the way he went than a perceived lack of ability. Plus don't forget he's surrounded by a talented lineup over there in Washington, as Red Wings fans we know exactly what its like to watch how a couple of great players can collectively make the larger group of good ones all pick their game up a notch.

    Quincey

I agree, I always liked Quincey, he brought a good hard nosed edge to our lineup and played with lots of heart.

    Worried About Hudler

I've already adjusted myself to the idea of him playing in another uni. Not guaranteeing the farm that he's going to get a rich offer that management won't match, but if I were betting 5 bucks that the way I'd go.

why can't the NHL have a salary cap like baseball?

Because the baseball salary cap is a joke. If anything baseball needs desperately to adopt hockey's salary cap system. Baseballs system isn't even a cap at all, it's "spend as much as you want and we'll call some of it taxes" not a salary. They're still using money to gain the advantage, not their talent, and that defeats the purpose of a cap in the first place. Personally I enjoy watching us beat teams into the ground when we're on the same financial playing field. It's easy to buy playoff appearances, just ask the Steinbrenners. Earning them on the other hand actually means something. Ken Holland and company are what makes us so good, not Mr. I's bank account.

    Lilja Hit

I do think it was penalty worthy..... Misconduct worthy? Suspension worthy?........ I can't say, because the only angle VS would show was up Backes' nostril as he was careening towards the camera.

    Pronger

Come on DuckGuy! You aren't exactly fresh meat around here so I think you get why there is not much Pronger tolerance, I mean you have to understand most of us have seen his BS first hand since he was a noobie, he only spent 2 years in Hartford and then his next 9 with a Blues team that at the time was a talented division rival. We have plenty of not so pleasant memories.....like the time he went for Yzerman's knee, which he fortunately missed..... I mean that's like going for Gretzky's knee.....Well in MY book it's worse, but you get the idea..... And trying to test the glass in Anaheim with Homer's face ..... It's not just limited to to Red Wings either.... There's the time he was suspended for cross checking Pat Peake in the throat in 95'..... Or slashing Jeremy Roenick in the helmet...... Or his elbow from behind on Selanne in 01' playoffs..... Or stomping on Ryan Kesler's leg with his skate..... Or headshotting Dean McAmmond in the 07' Finals..... Or Yada yada, the list of incidents where he has tried to "nullify" key players from accomplishing their key roles goes on indefinitely, fortunately for me there's not enough word space here to complete it lol...... Having said that, I know he's on your team, and I respect your support for them..... BUT.... If you were a guy who was blessed with his kind of size and physical prowess and you used it to try and pull "career enders" on other guys, much less legendary players, then there should be no surprise when you earn the title of goon.....And that's the polite term for him, I'm sure we all have our favorites we save for our living rooms...... Frankly it still disgusts me to know his name is on the Stanley Cup, I usually root for the team that beats us in the playoffs but he was the reason I didn't in 07'

Corey "the fairy" Perry suspended four games

Claude Giroux - 5'11 / 180lbs Corey Perry - 6'3 / 202lbs Given this information, which one of these men do you think would be more likely to need to use his elbow to effectively drop the other to the ice? Well the correct answer would be neither if they were born adequately equipped by the lord with a proper and functional pair of balls, but clearly one of them wasn't. I've never liked Perry, and this reminds me why. I can just hear him all over again in the 07' playoffs....."Hey Pavel tell Samuelsson he's gonna get it! You're gonna get it too!"......... What a chach

LOL check out this GEM of a Topic....

They're not a bad team, they beat us A LOT during the regular season last year and that was just before we won a cup. Now is calling them "elite" a bit of a stretch? In my opinion, yes. I believe appearances, not to mention success in the playoffs is a requirement before you're considered "elite". Having said that, good for their fans, they're allowed to root for their team and get complacent, a lot of older Red Wings fans know just what it's like to watch your team suck and slowly gain that young talent that will lead you to the promise land where you expect to be the best year in and year out. These guys are allowed to have something to cheer for too, let them go ahead and root against us and have playoff dreams, they've been cellar dwellers for a long time. Besides, even if they find success in the postseason, it won't change the fact that I will always support Detroit the same way, and that's whats important. It's all about competition, let the fans cheer that's our job, just remember it's what happens on the ice that matters. People CAN actually be civil to rival fans when they understand that concept, even if most Chicago fans idea of fun at a game is insulting / assaulting those opposing fans.

    Toledo Storm Patches

Well you might still be able to get STORM patches somewhere, but the team itself no longer exists. There is no longer an ECHL team in Toledo, however beginning in the 2009-2010 season the Toledo Walleye are going to be the new resident franchise.....Their logo might actually suit your needs better Toledo Walleye Logo

Pens fans trying to knock redwings outa Allstar....

As a fan I don't care about having our guys' names in the all star game, but if my vote would help get their names on the Stanley Cup again I would actually bother doing it.....Oh wait one of these things actually stands for something and the other is based on totally irrelevant opinions.

Larionov has a special place in hockey history

Larionov was his own player. I know everyone always calls him the "Russian Wayne Gretzky" but I think that may do him a disservice. While certainly Wayne Gretzky was the greatest the game has known, Larionov was still his own player and a damned good one deserving of his own identity. You could look at that guy at any given time and see the wheels turning in his head, he really was the professor, that and he played when hockey was still "rough" and wasn't afraid to stick up for his guys. Loved Larri, easily one of my all time favorite Wings.

Price of Jerseys at the JLA?

I believe CCM replicas were $130, not sure about RBK replicas, but RBK on ice w/ a fight strap are $300, or $350 w/ a stanley cup patch.

looking for advice about hockey town

Also, be warned there is massive construction on the interstates downtown right now, scheduled to go on for another year at least. So I don't know if you use a navvy system but that might be able to help you avoid it, because there's really no easy way downtown coming from the south without going way up and around or taking some interesting detours. Now if you're coming over the top of the lake via Ontario and go through the tunnel or over the bridge that would be different. But they're building a new bridge form Detroit to Windsor and I know it's detour city for me when I come up from Ohio to games. And like someone else said avoid dark alleys...... seriously. It can get pretty shady in the dark corners of motown. As in, if you get into an accident, don't wait for cops to show up because they most likey won't unless someone's been shot. edit: failure to grammar

Silver pot at end of Rainbow journey for Mac

Accomplishing things in the face of adversity like addiction and other personal problems takes a strong will, a lot of guys would have given up and been bagging crap at wal mart by now. But he went out there and worked his way back financially, mentally, and on the ice. Nothing but respect for that kind of effort.
