I agree, most media outside of the Detroit market doesn't want to give us any credit. They can keep it in my opinion, because their credit or lack thereof given to Detroit DOES NOT determine their destiny, and it CANNOT stop them from etching their names on the cup for the 4th time in the last 11 years. The only thing that allows or disallows that is the way we play, and right now we're making them look pretty stupid. Let them talk, because it doesn't amount to s*** in the long run. We're taking care of business, if they miss crediting the best story in the playoffs right now then thats their own loss.

Well he did pick us to win the 1st round, but last year he picked against us up until WCF and then he picked us against the Ducks and we all know how that went. Either way, I think our goalie voodoo is stronger than the Melrose Mullet, if we lose it's our fault.

Well, I hate to let you down in a moment of positive energy, but I'm a Red Wings fan first, I don't watch basketball, and well I'll be watching baseball today and.....I'm sure I'm getting flamed for this one *shields himself from incoming airborne beer glasses* ...... LETS GO TRIBE!!!!!!

Heh, Sakic was always one of the few I could tolerate back in the hayday of the rivalry, not to mention he had one of the best wrist shots of his generation, but thats neither here nor there. These guys are just like us they like to actually get out of there hotel and do stuff when they're out of town so it doesn't really suprise me, but the fact that they weren't heckled did. I played some roulette with Jordin Tootoo a couple weeks back when at the beginning of round one at the MGM, so if you're out chances are you'll spot some players around town for sure.

Tough break for them, they outhit Dallas like crazy, yet it looked like Dallas had all of the energy, they just looked plain beaten. Aside from Pronger burning in hell and Burke being the leader of all douchebags who lives inside Cambpell's circle of protection I really don't have a problem with these guys. I would have loved to play them again and send them packing for a sense of gratification on Bert and Schnieds..... in a perfect world. To answer the question how does Schnieds feel now, well he lives in SoCal so the primo golf courses aren't too far away, I'm sure he'll be fine.

Drew Sharp on Osgood's Regulation Goal Last Night
#19forPresident! replied to Firehawk's topic in General
Fair enough, he's in broadcasting it's his job to "come up" with material to fill a show, but to him I say..... Were ifs and buts candy and nuts we'd all have a merry ******* Christmas. :xmas: We got a W, I don't ask any questions after that point. -
Well it's clear you weren't at either of those games, I was at game one and having been to several years of playoff games at the Joe I can comfortably say it was one of the loudest I've experienced. Not trying to be insulting, but you're wrong, there's no sense in getting pissed based on a T.V. broadcast, it's absolutely nothing compared to being there.

If we lose this series, will Holland be fired?

I agree. It's not a rule violation, regardless of people's opinion on the appropriateness. Any edge without breaking a rule is fair game especially in the playoffs, so if I was Brent Sutter I'd have one of my heavy hitters send a message to Avery personally, and if that didn't have any effect I'd be on their end of the ice doing the same exact thing to Lundqvist.

Wow, thanks for that link, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time I mean really, I could stumble into I-75 and catch an 18 wheeler to the face, by some miracle survive in the worst of all comas in recorded history, and I would STILL have more functional brain cells than that piece of work.

I was at the game and the hit looked pretty intense, but it happened so fast I didn't get nearly as good of a look at it as people at home who got to see the replay, anyone DVR the came that can upload the hit to youtube?

Well for the people talking about empty seats on T.V. take my word for it, I was sitting there and when it wasn't near the beginning or end of a period (when tons of people head to the completely inadequate bathroom facilities to beat the intermission crowd) the seats were 95% full at least. On top of that the crowd was electric in there, I've been to my share of Wings playoff games and this one definitely ranked up there in intensity. Here's to 15 more wins in the next 2 months.

A couple things stick out in that memory. 1) as mentioned earlier, NHL on ESPN music was the greatest thing ever 2) I remember watching this game in high school, I was at my buddy's house and when Yzerman caught the post we freaked out so bad that his mom busted in and thought we were throwing down 3)Also as mentioned earlier, if the rules of today were enforced that game would have been unplayable rofl Good times, good times.

I wish I saw this sooner, I would have found out what kind of gum he chows down on, all game, every game. Seriously he shoves more gum in his face then a bench full of little leaguers, I would have brought a case of it for him to sign
-
Yep that was me, thanks again for the pen. I was gonna have him sign my hat because the black sharpie wouldn't show up on the puck, but luckily you had your silver one and my buddy spotted you.

Saw this on ESPN.com and couldn't help but laugh. Apparently yesterday we resigned Stevie for one more year, time to bring down that banner! http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/teams/transactions?team=det For the late comers: ESPN had listed in the Red Wings Transactions for March 25th 2008: " Signed center Steve Yzerman to a one year contract." They have since corrected the error, but I was in high hopes that since ESPN is so in tune with the NHL that it must have been true....... alas Berry Melrose's mullet steps on the heart of Wing's fandom yet again

So I made it to open practice today, I didn't get close to the players on the bench side because there were a ton of kids from youth groups who I figured would cherish the experience a lot more, plus I just appreciated being able to see what our guys do behind the scenes since there are hardly any open Wings practices. I sat about 3 rows behind the penalty boxes on the opposite side, I was able to see great and enjoyed the practice and the guy's antics. I didn't get the opportunity to have anything signed as I mentioned earlier I wasn't on the bench side, but they did skate around and throw pucks over the glass to everyone........ Side note related to this.....There was a gentleman in front of me who couldn't have been a day under 45 and he was literally sprawling out in full extension to grab pucks from wherever he could......... Even after getting 3 pucks this guy evidently wasn't satisfied, so he tried to get more everytime they were thrown, which was pretty sickening to me.....and when I saw him try to take one from a young teenager I just wondered what the hell he was thinking..... but thats another story. During the practice the guys took a break to stretch at center ice, D-Mac was at dead center in the middle of the Wings logo, and as they were sitting there someone yelled "Welcome back Mac!!" and everyone gave a standing O, and players smacked their sticks on the ice, it was a good moment. Also during the same break Babs took got a mic and thanked the fans over the PA for coming and said the Wings wouldn't be where they are today without us. Then Nick took the mic and reiterated the same, after that he said to stop by Cheli's Chili saying they had a special going on and he passed the mic to Chris to explain. Chris said "stop by today, Lidstrom will be taking pictures and signing autographs!" which was of course a jab at the captain. The irony in this was that me and my buddies had already planned to go to Cheli's after the practice anyway, and we picked up on Lidstrom being there as a joke. The cool thing was that when we did go to Cheli's, while Lidstrom wasn't there Chelios himself did show up about 2 minutes after we sat at the bar. He chit chatted with the manager for a bit and then started signing for people at the end of the bar. So after a minute or two I took one of the practice pucks thrown out and borrowed a sharpie silver paint pen a guy at the bar next to me happened to have and got it signed. It was a great day for a Wings fan, I got to see them practice, they showed their appreciation and I even lucked out and ended up getting a puck signed personally without having to hound the guy and chase him down (which sadly some people did even as he was trying to get in his car and drive away an hour later)........... All in all I couldn't have planned it any better.

Therein lies the problem, Yashin is notorious for being a lazy prima donna. I agree, he's a freaking stack of potential, but he's already shown he doesn't have the will to realize it.
-
I could have said a million things here, but this sums up exactly how I feel. This league would be such better place if we could just stick Campbell, Pronger, and Bettman in the same damn barrel and send them over the falls.
-
Goddamn rediculous. He deserves every bit of Simon's suspension, but of course he's one of the league's golden boys who can do no wrong.
-
good thing he's lazy and sucks

Well you might as well ask how old people are, because for me and I'm sure alot of people, especially the other locals its been for life.

is there any respect amongst players these days?
#19forPresident! replied to DenJ91's topic in General
There are some guys left with respect, but they're all on the IR because they were cheap shotted by the ones without any. -
Heck yeah, I don't think anybody would hassle you for that, if they did I would be very surprised and think a short explanation would take care of it. Of course I will attest that they kick you right the hell out after the game is over, I barely get a chance to collect my thoughts and remember where I parked before Joe the Isle Jockey comes and asks me to leave.
