I don't doubt people would like to get away from Therrien... but I don't want any of the Penguins. No offense to some of their better players, but I like the people we have. We have copious amounts of potential, amazing proven players, some elite veterans... there's no better combination of talent in the NHL than what we possess. Flat out.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Helm to come back to the bench in the 3rd. I really hope that it's not serious and the trainers give him the all clear. Kopecky is already out with a knee injury, let's not add Helm to that list. He's got so much go in him. Let's keep it going boys! They're starting to look a little desperate and a little shaky.

Freep even admitted the Pens probably would have won anyway due to Fleury's fantastic goal keeping. However, if a penalty is a penalty... where were the MULTITUDE of hooking/holding/interference calls that were all over the neutral zone on both sides? I understand just letting the boys play the game, but I don't think anyone outside of the Penguins bench could believe the two "goaltender interference" calls. That's the same play that every team has made all season without penalty. It's frustrating to play 82 games in the regular season, play into the Stanley Cup Finals - and NOW they determine that the way the entire league has played - has been wrong. Oh... and the double minor that should have been served by Pittsburgh in Game 3 was a penalty - but yet it wasn't. s*** happens. The great teams are separated from the rest by the line of adversity they have to overcome. Which is exactly why I have faith the Red Wings will cap off this season by hoisting Lord Stanley for their vivacious fan base.

I've got my alcohol in my 98 Cup champions stein, my jersey (which is over a t-shirt - and it's freakin' HOT) and I'm feelin' good about this next period. Penguins will come out wanting blood, they're desperate and they're nervous. Especially if anything serious happened to Gonchar or Malone. But I see them both back, if in any shape or form it's physically possible. There's too much on the line. Unless Malone's jaw is hanging down like a zombie and Gonchar's kneecap is in his big toe - they'll be there.

We're playing way too fancy. We just need to step back and play Red Wings hockey. We need to get traffic in front of the net, and we need to not be afraid to fight back. We're letting ourselves be pushed around too much. When there's a Penguin in the offensive zone, and Sammy keeps his distance while Pavs dives in, puts the body on and gets the puck headed out. Everyone needs to contribute. Or we need to clone Darren Helm and run 3 lines of Helm and one of Pavs/Cleary/Flip with Hudler rotating

We've got 40 more minutes, I have faith... but depending on the 2nd period, I will not lie - it might dwindle. I've been fairly pessimistic today in part to my husband driving my car to work and parking it in a garage that wound up flooding. So I've got water damage on the floor of my car - it's being checked out by our dealer. The reason this bothers me? My husband totaled the front end of the SAME CAR last year during the WCF against Anaheim and we lost. So hearing that made my superstition meter perk up a few. Hate mail can be sent I'll give the address. Just be sure it's addressed to someone OTHER than me.
